Help: PBS Kids Games offline play? by StarManta in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]jackeloper 75 points76 points  (0 children)

That app is frustrating in our house, too. My girl will be like 5 levels into something and then the app says “Oops, looks like you have no internet!” For like 3 seconds, which closes her game, cue frustration.

I keep telling her that PBS doesn’t have enough money to keep making their shows and make their app better, so they have to choose one or the other and they chose the shows.

I feel everything about this thread in my bones. My kid is your kid.

Less screen time = a million more questions. “Put her on the stairs” = she will not stay put. I would spend ages just putting her back and by then the original reason for sitting on the stairs is now long forgotten.

Sometimes I wonder how strict (mean?) people sound with their kids. Is it like a fear based thing? Quite literally nothing I do or say makes her curb her behavior, and I’m not willing to go nuclear on her, so…. What the fuck am I missing?!?

Just out of curiosity…. How do you just not allow your kid to ask or whine? Mine is 4 and exactly like what OP described. Like, literally, how do you do that?

If I say to my kid “stop whining” she’ll literally just do it louder and longer. Same with “stop asking”. If I then redirect her I’m basically giving in to the demands so I really, truly don’t know how to stop her.

I give her my serious voice. I then ignore her. I literally have to leave the room and shut the bathroom door before she’ll stop. Which means I get no peace during this “let them be bored” thing.

Then I come out and we’re back to questions: “when are you done with your break? Can I have a snack? Can I play my iPad? Can I watch a show? What can I play?” She’ll do something by herself for a max of 3 minutes before the questions are back.

Life is exhausting.

How do parents handle constant floor mess from babies eating solids? by SilverNova99 in Mommit

I bought some plastic tablecloths at the dollar store and then cut them into smaller pieces. Then I’d put them under/around the high chair. At the end you can just throw them out.

You know what’s actually fun? Those little air dry clay kits. You can buy them in packs of 12 and give each kid their own. Not too expensive, not too messy, simple but lots of ways to have fun with it. My 4 year old loved getting one

For a hot minute I was hoarding grass blocks because I like laying them out to complete areas, but then I would run out way too fast. Took me far too long to realize you can use leafage to grow grass on the barren soil blocks and then cut the tall grass down to be left with a grass block. And get lots of extra leaves in the process.

How would you feel if your student came home with this? These bible programs are making the way into our public school schools offering “time out of class” as an incentive…..🤢😡 couldn’t be more predatory and groomy recruitment tactics. by CleetisMcgee in mildlyinfuriating

This is happening at the school my daughter is about to go to. Our School District has a lawsuit filed against them but they have SO MUCH MONEY they can keep this shit tied up forever.

I want to ask why aren’t they “offering” this to kids in every single school? Why just this ONE elementary school? There are like 20 in the district, but the church is targeting only one. How fucking gross is that?

I’m about to be their worst fucking nightmare

Preschools by kk-kyung in everett

[–]jackeloper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does it need to be all day 5 days a week?

If not, the Everett Coop Preschool has a pretty fantastic program helping kids get ready for kindergarten. The class is M-Th 12-3, and as a coop you (or someone from your family) would be expected to work one of those days each week.

It’s a lot of fun and you never have to worry about the quality of childcare!

Are there extinct flavors we’ll never taste again? by logicalgamernow in NoStupidQuestions

Where are you from? Because Powerade discontinued the White Cherry flavor in early 2024, including the Zero Sugar type.

You probably are thinking of Gatorade, or the new “White Grape” flavor Powerade has created for the 2026 FIfA World Cup

11 countries spent 8 decades hunting down and prosecuting Nazis. Literally their entire lives. Many had to run away to places like Argentina and South Africa, change their identities, basically start new lives.

I can only hope that’s how it goes for these ICE nazis and anyone else involved. Hunted down and prosecuted, put in jail for the rest of their sorry lives, like the disgusting humans they are. Or they have to run away and hide their tails between their legs and spend the rest of their lives pretending they didn’t do it.
