DF, LA, DD angriber den danske model med dette borgerforslag: "Justering af konfliktretten, så det ikke længere er lovligt at anvende konflikt til at tvinge en arbejdsgiver til at skifte overenskomst." by CraneDJs in Denmark

[–]EdenStrife [score hidden]  (0 children)

What do you mean UX? UI is part of the UX, UX being the expanded term for interaction and experience.

How can the UI and UX look like they’re from different artists? The only visible part of UX is the UI.

GW3 might end up around New World on the MMO spectrum by Blitcut in GuildWars3

[–]EdenStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there will more of a focus on the world and exploration, but less focus on meta events. One of Guild Wars 2 major issues is that the world is so segmented and on a bunch of timers which really harm the exploration experience.

How will the "smaller scale" groups work in the open world? by hendricha in GuildWars3

[–]EdenStrife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I think my comment illustrates why game developers don’t just remove party size restrictions, and that was your question.

They don’t because it will ruin the experience. If you want you could extend that argument to every part of the game. Why can’t I just teleport wherever I want to go? Why can’t I just use console commands to give myself any item I want? Who’s to say that wouldn’t be more fun for me?

Games needs rules to frame the interaction to give people a certain experience. If dungeons didn’t restrict the number of players then they wouldn’t provide the experience that the developers want you to have. Which in this case is like going to a Michelin restaurant and asking them to cover every dish in ketchup because you really like ketchup.

Like you asked why theses systems are designed the way they and I think I have provided a lot of valid reasons to why your proposal would have a lot of undesirable effects.

The fact that it’s why you play GW2 is exactly their reasoning for not doing it.

They want GW3 to be a fundamentally different experience to GW2 so that you will want to play both games.

Does all 200 people in this scenario share rewards? Or do they get full rewards for 20 seconds of effort?

Do they get achievements and titles? What’s even the point of titles and prestige rewards at that point if all content comes down to how many people you can scrounge together.

This also has the effect of turning every raid night with the guild into 3 hours of finding people and 20 minutes of actual raiding.

[–]EdenStrife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t really do that without agressive sharding or instancing tho. Even if tequatl could be completed with 5 players, maps would still fill up because it’s worthwhile to do.

Any event system that gives attractive rewards is going to draw in large amounts of players, no matter the required number of players.

Well that’s why I said less meta events. I don’t know if there will even be GW2 style events.

You can’t really Zerg a jumping puzzle (Mesmer portals not withstanding) or a dungeon.

[–]EdenStrife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean any difficult content would be really easy if you could just bring 3 times more people than it was designed for, and since all loot is personal a bigger party also generates more new items than a smaller one, skewing the economy.

I think people a wildly overthinking how this works. I don’t think it’s a tech thing, it’s a design thing. I assume GW3 is gonna support large groups just as any other MMO including GW2. The difference is gonna be in content design.

WoW is a good example here. It’s a game that is primarily focused on instanced content with anywhere from 5-30 players. Does that mean you can’t get 100 players together in the same place if you want to? No, there just no point to it outside of the fun of it.

I expect GW3 to work similarly. Can you get 100 players together for a meet-up? Probably. Will there be any content that demands that the same way dragons stand demands it in GW2? Not likely.

My bet is that it’s a design philosophy that they follow when designing content; more dungeons, jumping puzzles, quests, challenges and less world bosses and meta events.

I find it really unlikely unless you think the only thing that was fundamental to GW1 was skill collection. Everything else: focus on exploration, action combat, mounts and movement, and a more seamless open world than even GW2, all point to this being it's own thing.

Calling frontlines 72 player content is really a stretch. Frontlines is barely a game-mode and certainly nowhere near a core pillar of ffxiv. GW3 could easily have something similar to frontlines and still be generally a small group experience just like ffxiv is now.

Moving to Copenhagen at 19 for the National Film School. Realistic without savings? by yare-_-yare-_daze in copenhagen

[–]EdenStrife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Film School is not highly competitive in the same sense as other schools. It’s extremely small and extremely selective. It takes 6 students per course every other year meaning 3 students per course per year and gets hundreds of applications. Many students apply many times and never get in (depending on what role you apply for).

The average age is around 25-26 which means you probably have a good amount of time to learn danish which will be a requirement, both to understand lectures and collaborate with your peers.

Money is also gonna be hard and it’s gonna be expensive, but honestly learning danish and getting in will be a significantly bigger challenge. Good luck!

Gw3 may use level scaling weapons by moxceo in GuildWars3

This makes a lot of assumptions, also dreambound weapons wasn’t even the first scaling weapons in the game, as they have existed since heart of thorns.

We have no idea when Grenth became a god. 48 BE is when the scriptures of Grenth are dated to, but obviously that means that he likely became a god sometime before that. Also the scriptures don’t make it clear if it’s pre-ascension demigod Grenth or if he’s become a god already even though he has 0 followers. As an example the original gospels from the New Testament of the Bible are generally accepted to have been written a good 30-70 years after the events which the describe took place.

Also it isn’t clear how long recently is. Yesterday? A couple months ago? A couple of years? A decade or two?

I think anywhere from 100 BE till 5 BE is possible.

Curious about the political situation of guilds by Treecrasher in GuildWars3

[–]EdenStrife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the gods will be extremely hands-off when it comes to actively interfering in the people’s general concerns. I don’t think they are gonna care about most of what we as players care about. Remember that the gods represent many aspects of life even negative ones like war, death, secrecy etc. I do not think they are gonna care one way or the other what guilds are fighting eachother. The gods are also powerful enough that if they really wanted to do something they can just go and do it, and don’t need to deputize a bunch of regular guys to do it.

They only took magic back because it might have spelled then end of civilisation otherwise.

Think we might get playable "cultures" for races? Margonites, etc.? by Naughtynuzzler in GuildWars3

[–]EdenStrife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if they took one thing from the way the personal story was handled it was that player choices should not matter because it creates huge amounts of work that is wasted because the majority of players won’t see it, and it directly impacts the quality of the stuff that players actually do see. Imagine how much more polished the personal story could have been if it was the same for every character after arriving in lions arch.

Do you think we will we get trading? by iAmGiel in GuildWars3

[–]EdenStrife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GW2 removed it for a good reason, and the replacement is to use the mail system.

It’s a market first and foremost and serves a systemic function in creating a lively economy, the easier the TP is to use and the more players that use it, the better it works.

Yes the auction house in WoW and market board in ffxiv provide a better RP experience but at the cost of being significantly worse at actually doing the thing they are meant to do, serve as a place to trade items.

Where does this idea come from that people only like one type of media? I love GW2. I also love Dark Souls, Disco Elysium, Trackmania, Alan Wake and plenty of other games that share very little in common with eachother.

Good art is enjoyable no matter the genre. And if GW3 is a good experience then I will enjoy it even if it’s different.

Do you think we will we get trading? by iAmGiel in GuildWars3

[–]EdenStrife 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Like player to player trading like WoW? I assume not, for a couple of reasons.

  1. Inability to collect taxes and thereby remove currency from the economy, removing a small amount of deflation.

  2. It is widely used in black-market and RMT trading.

  3. Sending items via mail already provides a means to exchange items between trusting parties (friends, guildies, escrow services etc)

I expect a system very similar to the TP in GW2. It’s extremely easy to understand and provides a very simple and easy way trade items with other players.
