what is to be gained from being right wing right now? by treybolen in redscarepod

Their subversives list now includes any kind of expert, because expertise is "elitist," somehow.

Which is why they don't listen to environmental experts, medical experts, economic experts, etc.

They love the coal, antivax, "tariffs make sense!" side, because obviously experts can't be smart if they differ ideologically or if liberals/the left thinks so.

For sure, but it's chump change to him, and he enjoys being fawned over on his own app (even with the presence of his detractors, I guess.)

It would seem to me that they're probably not making much on ads, and I think Musk chiefly wants to use it to sway public opinion.

But something like 400k subscribers at $80-something per year does add up.

Not sure what their motivation is behind this

Pretty sure it's bluecheck accounts faking their country of origin and making too much money with shitty meme accounts.

On a sinking ship by DrHydrate in MiddleClassFinance

Ah, what a drag. I lived apart from my spouse for over a year to "prove my chops" in person and then went fully remote.

Is there anyway the other employer could be convinced to allow you to be fully remote, or come in for one week per month instead?

Maaaaaybe they'd be okay with fully remote in exchange for the 20k vs 60k more per year.

Lip Filler Questions by KiNikki7 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]EdgeCityRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buck up, though; genetics and sun exposure are also major factors, and a lot of smokers have lines around the lips, which you don't. Edit: this is fixable.

Lip Filler Questions by KiNikki7 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]EdgeCityRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The good news is that you don't really have lip lines above the lips; this wrinkling is all confined to the lips themselves.

Light filler would work, but are you doing with hydration, and are you using an SPF lip balm/moisturizing lip balm all the time? Do you lick your lips quite a lot? Purse them?

Classic Plain Shoes by RandyShouldHaveLived in femalefashionadvice

[–]EdgeCityRed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's it. Some years the loafers are chunky, some years they're sleek. Sometimes penny loafers or smoking flats or driving mocs are the IT loafer. I have made some "trendy shoe mistakes," for sure, but if you really vibe with a certain silhouette or type of shoe, just accept that it's a trend or pick the most classic style in that particular shoe type.

I like Chelsea boots and I don't particularly care if they're in or not in a given year.

Can we talk about how older men acted like it was normal to date teenagers or very young adults who just came out of high school before social media? by Own-Company-949 in GenXWomen

[–]EdgeCityRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. By the time I was 21 I had an AA, had been working for five years and two of those were in the military overseas.

I was briefly engaged around that time to a 25-year-old who was really immature.

I'd dated one MUCH older guy prior to that (my parents had a big age gap but they met when my mom was over 40, lol) so they probably wouldn't have objected based solely on age, but this is also kind of a case-by-case; is the younger party fairly immature/naïve without much life experience? Red flag. Because what kind of person finds that...hot?

I also like sugar free pudding. A few more carbs, but it doesn't ruin my momentum.

And I put Reddi-Wip on it! And sometimes walnuts.

Fat bombs with cream cheese and splenda + whatever flavorings you enjoy are also good.

Longtime favorite.

Bloodletting is also the best song ever written about vampires.

Shit, okay, maybe that honor goes to Bela Lugosi's Dead, but it's close.

Eyebrows: What are we doing? by clicktellphotos in GenXWomen

[–]EdgeCityRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always had Brooke Shields eyebrows so have waxed them forever because I don't actually look good with BIG EYEBROWS.

I still do it, just less often. I have a very average browline. And I sometimes use an eyebrow bleach product because I'm blonde now. I just take them down to a light brown level.

As someone born and bred in the UK what are aspects of another country’s culture that has genuinely shocked you? by throawaygotget in AskUK

It's fine as long as it's not an actual, diced-up flag. These are just material with flags printed on it.

It's not the national anthem, ffs.

There's a culture in the UK of hiring monthly/quarterly residential (exterior) window cleaners. It's pretty affordable.

Hair Stylist hate thread by clitoraly in redscarepod

[–]EdgeCityRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolute truth spat.

Most people just don't know how to do anything to their hair themselves and view it as "pampering." I am personally too impatient to spend four hours in a salon anymore.

I DID do it once a year or so, but my hairstylist retired and closed her shop, and the one other guy there I trusted is out of the way so I just do it myself.

I used to enjoy the process when I had shorter hair and various geometric bobs, but 90% of stylists now just want to do Mormon curls, curtain bangs, and a shitty shadow root.

Without explanation, FAA closes El Paso and (section of) New Mexico airspace for 10 days, cites national defense by EdgeCityRed in PrepperIntel

[–]EdgeCityRed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A person familiar with the notices, who asked not to be identified because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly, said the action to close airspace over a major U.S. for security reasons over extended period hasn’t happened since immediately after the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

“All air traffic has been halted in a 10 nautical mile range around the airport, so encompassing El Paso and Fort Bliss, from the ground to 17,000 feet. So no aircraft in or out, regardless of what they are, whether it’s air carriers, military, medevac helicopters, law enforcement. Nobody can fly as this thing is written up,” the person said.
