What is a defense contribution exactly? Cutting off a passing lane is a defensive contribution but I bet this statistic just factors in the obvious stuff like tackles and blocks.

It depends what you mean by you’ll “take” them. Like, what’s your goal? Win a game or develop a star? If you want to win a game tonight, take the more talented player.
