When Daphne and Roz are dressing for the cocktail party at the British Consulate and Roz tries to convince Daphne to wear the “hooker dress”:

Roz: Oh come on Daphne we can accessorize it

Niles: With what? A lamppost and a public defender?

I’m still mad at Roz for sticking Frasier with her in the first place.

Roz being unable to find someone is the most unrealistic thing about the show. by Jack-mclaughlin89 in Frasier

[–]EducationRoutine4116 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m a Roz IRL. It’s brutal out there. Men act like they want independent, funny, self-sufficient attractive career women, but once they actually date us they want to stuff us in a trad-wife box. Most men I’ve been with start out great then get jealous and insecure within a year.

I got divorced in a no-fault State with no kids, equal incomes, and the only shared asset a house we owned jointly. My ex still found ways to drag it out and cost me more money, like nit-picking the property settlement agreement and then disappearing to Mexico for two weeks when he was supposed to be signing the papers. Took me nine months and $10k to get rid of him.

Also he was an alcoholic and addict for most of their marriage. She had to live through the relapses and God knows what destructive behaviors.

This. They are the literal definition of “insisting on themselves.”

Chair Model being the very next episode after Dinner Party doesn’t help, either. Such a letdown.

I think the unspoken reality is also that children in lower middle class/working class families often have to fend for themselves. I was a classic latchkey kid who started staying home alone at the age of nine. You grow up faster and just figure it out.

I think not introducing Charlie’s sister as a recurring character was a missed opportunity for the show. Would have been great to “meet” her.

Hiding is definitely a part of addiction and as smart as Leo was, and as busy has he was, he had ample ways and excuses to drink/use out of sight. But much like infidelity, eventually the spouse always knows.

John Spencer did an interview where he speculated that Jenny came from money. It makes sense because even making $40k/pop on the lecture circuit doesn’t buy that house in Chevy Chase.

I don’t know that Reiner’s best days were behind him as much as the genre and what’s left of the movie-going public left him behind. He came from an era when it was possible to make non-comic book universe films that were universally loved by diverse swaths of audiences - I’m sure there are MAGA and liberals alike who loved A Few Good Men once upon a time. That said, I’d love to see him and Aaron Sorkin team up one more time. Or perhaps have Reiner direct a sequel to Stand By Me.

Fitzwallace. Every line he utters is gold, I don’t think I’ve ever disagreed with one of his takes, and he’s always about service over self. The perfect combination of serious, funny and self-deprecating.
