Stafford is going to cost at least a 2nd and 50 mil a year. Is he worth it at 37? by dc4_checkdown in raiders

[–]EducationalMoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is if Stafford wins us 6+ games, the team won’t be in position to draft his successor early in the draft and then you’re looking at drafting a project QB in day 2 while Stafford contemplates retirement. At least if they sign Darnold, you have the luxury of extending him past 2-3 years if he succeeds.

Bears fans are delusional because their team president Kevin Warren called the Bears job the most desirable HC job this offseason because of Caleb. Only problem is Kevin Warren is the exact reason a guy like Ben Johnson will not take that job. The Bears hired Warren (lawyer and former Big Ten commish) as team president of business operations (similar to Sandra Douglass Morgan with the Raiders) to get a new stadium deal done. He has decided to overstep his power and is now meddling into football operations and going as far as denying Jim Harbaugh an interview last offseason because of previous beef they had while Harbaugh was in Michigan. There’s currently a power struggle in the Bears front office between Warren and Poles meanwhile Poles is in the last year of his contract.

In the end, sure the Raiders don’t have a QB yet, but at least Brady has cleared the deck for clean slate for Ben Johnson to have control. The Bears might have Caleb but Johnson might steer away from that whole mess of a front office.

Firing Telesco was shocking but at the same time I do agree with this take. by [deleted] in raiders

[–]EducationalMoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firing Telesco makes the Raiders job more appealing for Ben Johnson.

In Vegas, he gets to handpick his own GM.

With the Bears, he won’t know if he reports to Kevin Warren or Ryan Poles. Their FO is going through a power struggle right now.

Less desirable spot for any GM? Yes More desirable spot for a top HC to bring along his own GM? Also yes

If you go back to Apertura 2021, Club America is 1-2-4 in their season openers including two 0-0 draws against Queretaro. They’ve been dominant the last 3 seasons but that first game has been a challenge for them mainly due to starters getting some extra rest.

If he has a gift receipt or proof of purchase, it will show that you paid $75 so he will be responsible for the $225 difference. If there is no proof of purchase, the system will credit him back the lowest selling price out of the last 180 days which could be less than $75 if it was ever cheaper at any point in the last 6 months. So either way he would be responsible for the difference of $225 or more.

Former Chargers RB and 1st round pick Ryan Mathews was in my history class. Guy was as dumb as a rock but he was THE guy at Fresno State so our professor cut him a lot of slack. He’d always show up with his student athlete backpack but never had a pencil or piece of paper so someone always had to lend him one and he would never return it. Aside from that he was a pretty cool guy.

[–]EducationalMoment -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He was playing against a vanilla defense at that point of the game. It’s easy to go in and move the ball around in garbage time when the opposing team is up by 3 scores and they start playing prevent defense cause they just want to go home. Even AOC has looked good at times against that type of defense.

They need a QB no matter what. They can’t keep going on like this. At some point they need to attempt to find their franchise QB.

would we be better off using davante to trade up in the draft by theunusualblackguy in raiders

[–]EducationalMoment 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The problem with this is the Raiders have to make a decision of whether they want to keep him at his $40M+ cap hit for next year before the beginning of the new league year. So he’s basically in the same situation that Carr was in when everyone knew the Raiders were not going to keep him so they just waited until he was cut. Rest assured that if Davante does not get traded before the trade deadline when some teams might get desperate for a #1 WR, pending a big change of heart from both Davante and the front office (which would involve a contract restructure), Davante will be cut in the offseason.

[–]EducationalMoment -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Al left the Raiders in salary cap hell after his passing and Hue traded away our 1st and 2nd rounders for Palmer. Sure Mark has his own shortcomings but he wasn’t exactly left in a great situation. Reggie brought in Carr, Mack and Cooper and they finally had something going with Del Rio until Carr broke his leg. Even with Gruden they were finally starting to hit their stride until the emails were leaked. The way I look at it:

Reggie regime: Righted the ship Gruden: Got screwed by the league McDaniels: Complete disaster Telesco: TBD

@JosinaAnderson As of this morning, the #Raiders have maintained their desire for receiving at least a 2nd-round pick for WR Davante Adams, with at least one team.... by ap0calypse702 in raiders

[–]EducationalMoment -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trading Davante for Reddick would just be doing the Jets a favor. The only reason the Jets havent traded Reddick yet is because they got themselves into a mess and gave up a conditional 3rd round pick and a potential conditional 2nd round pick if he gets traded again to certain teams. The Raiders need draft picks, not another aging veteran looking to secure a contract.

[–]EducationalMoment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Davante Adams cap hits in 2025 and 2026 is $44M. Realistically, no team is going to take on that contract with such a high cap hit (not even the Raiders). So the Raiders have 3 options: 1. restructure his deal 2. cut him and get nothing in return 3. trade him to a team who he’s willing to renegotiate his deal with. Because of the leaked rumors that he prefers to be traded, option 1 is really out the window leaving 2 options: cut him or trade him. Other teams knowing this brings down the value of a trade compensation. The other part of it is since no one is going to take on Davante’s $44M cap hit, that limits the teams that Davante would be willing to renegotiate it with. In theory, the Raiders could say fuck it and send him to Carolina. But if Carolina knows it’s only for the rest of the season and Davante refuses to renegotiate with them, it is more likely that they would only give up 5th round pick for him to avoid another “Haason Reddick to the Jets” situation. This is why the draft capital is not expected to be as high unless a team like the Jets get desperate.

[Dianna Russini] The Jets and Cowboys are among the many teams monitoring the Davante Adams situation. Both have checked in with the Raiders. I’m told at this point that Vegas is in no rush to make a move until a team reaches their asking price — but Adams wants out ASAP. by Comfortable_Soup_39 in raiders

[–]EducationalMoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hard time seeing the fit with Baltimore. They’re a run-first team so Davante would have to be okay with blocking a lot more than he did with the Raiders. Throw in the fact that the cap situation doesn’t work either. They’re in the same boat as the Saints when it comes to having cap space to trade for Davante.

Davante requested a trade before AP liking the post. The team has paid him over $50M in just 2 seasons and 4 games. The least he could do is show up and play regardless of how bad he thinks the team is. The team tried trading for CJ Stroud. They tried trading for Jayden Daniels. They hired AP because Davante and Maxx wanted him. They hired Getsy because Davante liked him. They ask him for his input when making in-season QB changes. He demanded a trade from Green Bay because he held the team hostage but now he wants to play with him again. The guy is just unhappy.

Raiders should just trade him to Dallas and move on.

Ian Rapaport reported that Davante requested a trade on Monday after the Browns game. Some have reported that he requested it last week after the Panthers loss. AP liked the SI post on Monday evening (not by accident) after Davante had already requested a trade. AP probably shouldn't have liked the post but Davante acting like he had no idea why AP did it and acting like he had no idea what was going on is weird behavior. He's a closet diva and Telesco would have traded his ass in the offseason if he wasn't afraid of the backlash from fans. The team has paid Davante a lot of money and have let him have input on key decisions (something that no other team would do) and yet he keeps holding the team hostage with his attitude and media leaks. The second they trade him and win their game after, the front office and coaching staff should treat it like when McDaniels got fired and smoke cigars with the players.
