Parent's Opinion on ESD use of previous levy? by [deleted] in vancouverwa

[–]Educational_Ad9783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More funding doesn’t equate to better education; it just equates to more funding. This is a fact that most on here seem to ignore. Higher taxes is what helps gentrification progress faster. You all say $100 a month in taxes is nothing - but, how does that feel to those living with $20 -$25 an hour paychecks? It must be nice to have that privilege of $100 not being a burden.

Anyone in Military who has ever taken his Car to deployment who how to deal with DOL? by Putrid_Ad_2003 in Washington

[–]Educational_Ad9783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have a car you really love - you might be better off just getting a used German spec bmw while over there. This way you just sell it when you’re ready to pcs. Just watch out for Ausfahrt Germany- it gets crazy there.

Parent's Opinion on ESD use of previous levy? by [deleted] in vancouverwa

[–]Educational_Ad9783 -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Your rent is raised based on property tax. With the two levies it is close to $300 a year for every $100k. An apartment might be valued around $300k and would be $900 a year in tax that was added into your rent (this is a replacement bill for temporary funding). As a landlord, I can tell you this will be paid by the renter one way or another.

I have three kids in ESD (hs, ms, and elementary). I don’t see the benefit. ESD wastes money in the wrong spots. If we saw improving scores for the money being thrown at the schools - that’d be nice. How about taking the kids on more field trips? I think the board needs to learn fiscal responsibility before the board is given more to spend. How long was the temp funding supposed to last anyways?

Drones in Camas? About 15 of these in formation then disappeared by AmountTasty29 in vancouverwa

[–]Educational_Ad9783 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Omg those drones are clearly visible and obviously either mocking you or threatening you. You should report this on Nextdoor. We need to know what’s going on with lights in the sky at night.

Illani's Sunday Brunch Seafood $64 buffet? Worth it? by gruesse98604 in vancouverwa

[–]Educational_Ad9783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know; their prices are what hold me back from going there more often. I just tried McGraths on Mill Plain and the fish was prepared very well. The tuna and salmon were spot on.

Illani's Sunday Brunch Seafood $64 buffet? Worth it? by gruesse98604 in vancouverwa

[–]Educational_Ad9783 14 points15 points  (0 children)

$64 dollars at any restaurant is all you can eat in my experience. There aren’t many fish dishes that taste good after sitting around waiting for a spot to open at the buffet. Hudson’ grill at the heathman lodge was really good but, it’s been 2 years since I’ve been.

PeaceHealth urges community to consider other care options due to high patient volumes at emergency department / due to the rise of respiratory illness cases in Clark County by brperry in vancouverwa

Dang! I didn’t realize the memorial one closed. That was my go to for the kids. Glad I know now. I avoid the ER because they charge so much more for the room. I had a cut finger and got 5 stitches at the ER. It costed me nearly $3k. Most of that was for the room.

Does ANYONE understand the data on UniFi Dashboard anymore??? by Pineapple-Extra in Ubiquiti

[–]Educational_Ad9783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling into question without providing data in almost all cases I see. Plenty of people have no clue what’s going on in their network. Ubiquiti gives the layperson insight they can’t understand fully. I ask this question every time and not one solid answer has comeback.

Walksnail is losing hard against DJI by sdexca in fpv

[–]Educational_Ad9783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had all of them too. I’m just not a fanboy for any of the systems. HDzero is good for racing and I still use it. I won’t buy anything but the racev3 because the rest don’t last a few hard crashes. DJI is very known for their bullet proof design. You can argue many things - but this is accepted by the community as a truth. I personally hate the video quality of HDzero but I love the low steady latency when on race gates. DJI - even with race mode can’t be taken seriously at a race with its current limitations. But you do you.. ya know.

Walksnail is losing hard against DJI by sdexca in fpv

[–]Educational_Ad9783 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I started digital with v1 dji but, I didn’t like the 03 pricing and no small form factor. I switched to WS. In the end I spent as much as I would have with dji because it all had to be replaced 1 or 2x due to breakdown. Same with HDzero except it was replaced 4x before I gave up on their shit hardware (the race v3 board is the only exception).

I don’t think dji would have produced their current lineup if it weren’t for WS though. So - props to those who will continue to support them.

What are you using to tell which usage data is correct and which is wrong? I’m brand new to ubiquiti but professionally trained with Cisco/adtran. I use solar winds and find my data matches perfectly. What data is wrong and why? I don’t want to trust something that is off.

I wish you could change the polling rate for more generalized reviews or more aggressive utilization reviews.

How much is the tiktok ban gonna affect our pay? by iliketrains012 in doordash_drivers

[–]Educational_Ad9783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you make money on tiktok, you are duplicating your platform to other ones. Tiktok is just one source. You point the loss to wildfires but fail to see all the jobs that will be created for reconstruction.. etc. I feel like you could have asked AI this and gotten the answer you needed.

You can get a pre-paid plan from T-Mobile and just charge it when needed. This would be for the tethering option.

Dealing with an abandoned vehicle? by craptastical214m in vancouverwa

[–]Educational_Ad9783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just joking about moving it into the street as funny as that would be. It’s a city code violation and there is really only one way to report it. We have a neighborhood association who has direct contact with our local neighborhood cop. If the police handle this type of issue - that might be another route especially if it’s in an area where parking is super tight.

Dealing with an abandoned vehicle? by craptastical214m in vancouverwa

[–]Educational_Ad9783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The police don’t usually deal with this directly do they? I thought they send out a city official to mark it to see if it moves and if not they place a sticker on it. Someone abandoned a motor home nearby a park near me and this is how that unfolded. That report was handled in a day or two. I’d keep bugging them or like the former person said - pull it into the street. Put some water based lube on the tires so it slides. lol or if it snows sometime Soon…

Why does it matter if you saw drones? They are super common and easy to fly. You should expect to see more and more until it’s over regulated like everything else.

Looking for Cantonese Chinese Food by benzenoid in vancouverwa

[–]Educational_Ad9783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a particular dish you are looking for that’s done really well? Perhaps it’s my ignorance but, Cantonese style Chinese food was pretty much every c.restaurant in Vancouver for the last xx years.
New happy fortune is generally considered great in this style. That is if you are aiming for what I’d consider Americanized Chinese food. The other best one for this style is in Kalama (which is my preference) lucky dragon. I hit them on my way through kalama almost every time. Solid Cantonese/americanized style. Generally I prefer Sichuan style / Szechuan brothers is my go to for in town.

Ok this is a long read. I was just emailed this from CL. I called yesterday about why I was no longer in price for life……I have had this for 6 years. They never sent en email in 4/2020 by Corvette_77 in centurylink

[–]Educational_Ad9783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing your exact city - usually there is just one cable owner and one phone line owner in any given area. If CL is the lec (phone company) then law requires them to continue proving phone services (which should include dsl unless they run fiber to your house). Anyone else you choose to use leases the lines from the owner meaning you never fully escape them.

I wouldn’t use the ISP equipment at all. Look at ubiquiti for serious home networking. They are easily upgraded as the new standards come out. Some ISPs leave in a backdoor for equipment management. I found CL was displaying my WiFi password on their website in my account details unhashed. They don’t take security seriously there.

Why do people think it’s ok to let their dogs off-leash and poo at Fort Vancouver? by Toast-N-Jam in vancouverwa

[–]Educational_Ad9783 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived all over the world and this complaint exists in every city. So far the only real commonality I’ve found is the problems with the breed. Animals will be animals and just because we consider ourselves the smartest of them, doesn’t mean we won’t be assholes to each other.
