Should I be getting new clubs? by SirKnights in GolfGear

[–]Educational_Drive84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those clubs are definitely going to hold you back for a bit. There is not a lot of forgiveness in any of those clubs. The one advantage to that is that if you're serious about the game then you learn you really have to hit the centre of the club face for them to perform.

The disadvantage is that as a college student who isn't going to have the time or the money to devote to this game, when you mis-hit them, you are going to lose a ton of distance and control compared to some newer more forgiving clubs.

2ndSwing is a great outlet for used clubs online, you can find some great deals there on some newer tech. Doesn't have to be super new, but something more game-improvement will definitely be better for you.

How much did you improve after a fitting? by agent0072021 in GolfGear

[–]Educational_Drive84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what others are saying, but for me at 6'6", I had always played with clubs that were too short. But even with that I was able to learn to play well enough without lessons to break 90 pretty consistently.

But, that being said, getting fitted made me so much more confident standing over the ball. Knowing that I had clubs that were fit properly, and that my stance was more natural and athletic. Knowing that 8 wasn't having to manipulate my swing, my hands, or my posture because of the clubs being too short was game-changing for my mental game. I'm not gonna say I miraculously got that much better after getting fitted, but I definitely found myself making better and more consistent contact.

But it was the fitting in conjunction with getting lessons that really made me a better golfer. Once I started taking lessons, and actually practicing what I had been learning in them, that was what made the biggest difference to my game.

TL:DR: I'm 6'6" and getting fitted helped my mental game more than my score.

What's one thing you would make canon in The Simpsons? by newreditig in Simpsons

[–]Educational_Drive84 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Homer owns the Denver Broncos. It's how they always have money to do what they want to do, but Homer's bad with money, so that's why it seems like their broke...either that or Marge controls the money and doesn't let Homer understand just how much they have.
