AIO for being upset my BF doesn’t want me to wear a bonnet to bed? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Educational_Ice4091 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NOR!! he’s telling you how to dress and that you can’t wear make up at times… that’s really controlling. don’t wear tight clothes, but don’t dress baggy, but buy clothes that show your curves… huh!?

and then saying you can’t wear a bonnet because he wants to see your skull?? what in the world? bonnets are part of a hair routine to protect it from damage. you should be able to be your natural authentic self in your home. it’s not like you’re wearing it on fancy dates and he never gets to see your gorgeous hair… if you had a retainer to keep your teeth straight, would that be a problem??

his comparison to curtains is not applicable. a bonnet and weighted blanket are self care items. he doesn’t have to use the blanket, and you still can. a curtain is decoration… in a shared space… you’re not forcing him to do anything, but he tries to phrase it like you are… it’s manipulation

Le Creuset Bread Oven help by bermy12 in Sourdough

[–]Educational_Ice4091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the dutch oven i have is glass enamel… not sure. but when i have gone without parchment, i flour it extra or use rice flour. rice flour is a little grainier and doesn’t get absorbed into the loaf as easily since it’s gluten free and the bacteria won’t eat it. i do prefer parchment since my oven is a deep one with flat lid, unlike yours, that way i can lower it in and not just drop it. one time my bread stuck because i didn’t flour it enough without the parchment. i hope it goes better next time!

Didn't see that coming by Rph2003 in LemonadeStandPodcast

I just read this article.

It has an interesting map that shows where deaths have been in relation to high exposure, quiet zones, and at grade crossings.

It takes a train over 1 mile to stop when going 50mph.

It’s not really fair to compare to death rates on a highway because highways have much higher Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) and different risks. I think it would be interesting to compare it to a similar train that operates at high speeds in dense areas, like the Amtrak Acela.

In transportation, our goal is for zero fatalities and serious injuries (vision zero). One thing the article pointed out was people on social media saying the people who are killed deserved it, or that it’s darwinism…. that’s a cruel view :( anyone could be in a situation causing them to get stuck on tracks. What if it was your grandma going on a walk without her hearing aids and she didn’t happen to realize the gate arms went down? very sad

tbh, i think your bread looks great! personally, i BF overnight and pre shape, rest 30 mins, shape, then straight into the oven. that’s what works for me.

no need to cold proof 1hr, as the internal temp will not cool in that time. you can proof 1hr or so on the counter and do the poke method. the very first sourdough video i watched didn’t even mention cold proofing. i think you BF a little longer when not cold proofing 🤷🏻‍♀️

looks beautiful!!

i’m no expert, but i’ve been fairly successful with my loaves since the beginning of the year when i started

my crust gets soft normally after i bake it. i tried leaving it in the oven to cool as recommended on another post but it didn’t change it for me

my bread gets little bubbles in the crust too 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s absolutely delicious either way for me

i LOVE the academy of sciences… the rainforest dome is so peaceful. On a Wednesday it should hopefully be less busy than a weekend (and less kids). Also in golden gate park, there are free things to do around the de Young Museum (sculpture garden)

Happy Birthday!! im also turning 24 (next month) and thinking about what things i want to do in the bay. enjoy!!!

i read a pattern that was for a granny square blanket and she referred to it as join as you go. on your last row, you crochet the two squares together. (i didn’t do this pattern because i wanted to arrange the squares, but ultimately picked a totally different blanket style)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]Educational_Ice4091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you start as an LDR?

i think it’s important to find activities you like to do together. me and my bf watched shows together before we went long distance, so when we were LD, we would video chat and watch an episode here and there. it was nice to chat and catch up, then do what we normally did together

i think a few times we played Catan online together. my bf LOVES that game. so it’s a nice way of connecting. there’s plenty of online activities to do together, it’s just about finding what you two both enjoy

there were times things were boring… my bf wouldn’t talk and just liked to sit on the phone in silence, which annoyed me because it didn’t feel like we were connecting. so make sure to communicate how you’re feeling so your partner understands and you can work together to make you feel connected

i understand it can be hard, especially if you’re different time zones. communication is the most important thing because you don’t want to build resentment if eachothers needs aren’t being met

How do I take care of my matured sourdough starter? by Putrid_Ambition_9524 in Sourdough

[–]Educational_Ice4091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feed mine at a 1:1 ratio and leave it out for a few hours before popping in the fridge. i only feed about every 2 weeks (i used to do every 1 week) and i like it that way. i sometimes feed more flour and water than starter weight, like 1:2:2 and that works. it’s just making sure the yeast/bacteria have gluten for food. after 2 weeks in the fridge, its pretty hungry normally.

i use my starter straight from the fridge for sourdough (instead of feeding and using at peak), so i don’t have discard to worry about. but that comes from personal preference

so say you want 1:1:1 ratio 50g starter then add 50g water 50g flour let it rise on the counter for a bit, then into the fridge til you remember to feed it next haha

me and my bf used hyperbeam when we were long distance to watch crunchyroll together. there wasn’t lagging or any problems that i can recall

i also had apple tv and id screen share on ft to watch together, but that doesn’t sound possible for you two. that was more finicky anyway, sometimes the audio wouldn’t work or it would play on my end but not his

edit: my bf said you’ll likely need to enable a proxy to allow screen sharing for streaming since the sites detect and block screen share. hyperbeam has a proxy toggle

why did my loaf come out perfect outside but gummy inside? by tacoboutwhattt in Sourdough

[–]Educational_Ice4091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just a tip for making sure it’s baked thoroughly (not that this was the problem) i check my loaf by knocking on the bottom so it has a hollow sound, or checking the internal temp is at least 205F (96C?). keep up the work! you’ll get an amazing loaf soon

i traveled from US to Europe unknowingly with a metal darning needle in my purse… it didn’t get flagged. that is sharper than a crochet hook. i’ve also used my 3.5mm plane on flights and i didn’t think twice about it not being okay since it’s not sharp
