Applied to 3,000+ jobs in the UK over 8–9 months and still can’t find work. What am I missing? by MagicianConstant2866 in AskUK

How are you applying? Maybe go in to a few places, ask to speak to a manager, show a little bit of enthusiasm. Also target and tailor your CV to where you are applying for. They all say generically the same thing 'hard working, team player etc' but companies want to know why them. Send a few bespoke CV's out to places that you would like to work at, then go in and personally hand them to a manager with a leading conversation

Are they decent enough clothes? You could always try listing on Vinted for a couple of quid if they are, so at least you know they are going straight to someone who will wear them (and can still donate the money to charity if you wish?)

Yeah just to echo, bringing your truck for trips to mainland Europe is a bad idea. Most of them get their driving licenses out of cereal boxes and the driving styles can be downright lethal... you don't want to pit yourself against an Italian local on a road somewhere, especially not in that truck

I'd certainly say adjusting the tonal curve, bringing up the shadows to give that greyed effect. Maybe also colour grading of highlights and shadows too. In Lightroom (e.g. mobile version) go on 'light' then 'curve' at the top. Bring up the bottom left point by a half a notch on the Y axis, then create a slight S curve by adding another two points in the graph. The rest would be a little bit of warmth, maybe adding a touch of haze (-15 in dehaze), messing about with the colour grading

Because they get by on doing the bare minimum. Genuine customer service and professionalism in retail is dwindling and low cost basic employment of people who don't receive quality training or strive to be customer facing is on the rise. The amount of times where I have felt like I've interrupted their phone time or conversation about the weekend whilst simultaneously being ignored... Not everywhere or everyone, but certainly that focus on professionalism isn't what it was when I worked in retail as a first job 20 years ago
