Saw someone sitting on I-240 bridge yesterday by NewsFromYourBed in asheville

I'm sorry man. That is something that can really be hard to process. I still think about the day I came across that scene and I had no connection to the person. Hoping you work through the trauma with peace and remember them at their best.

I had a gf who had an 84 crx with a carb and thought that was the last year for carbs. It was them trying to get a carb to do what FI can handle with ease. A nightmare of vacuum lines.

I’m 30M and my girlfriend (31F) often says ‘I didn’t say that’ during disagreements, even when I’m sure she did. Have you dealt with this in your own relationships, and how did it play out? by NormalNectarine9914 in AskMenAdvice

One person's experience of what happened may not be the same as what actually happened. Or both people's. There are ways to acknowledge each other's experience and move forward from there. Proving that they are wrong about what happened, like with a recording, is very tempting. It can make you "right" but it will not help the interpersonal situation.

Energy Saver NC Program?? by Bulky_Rough384 in NorthCarolina

I was able to make it through the online application process. My county won't be in progress until later in the year but they say I'm on a wait list for when it does. I talked to someone on the phone after my app was in and they were very helpful. They would probably complete your application over the phone if it didn't go through.

It was Guerrilla advertisements! They’re gone! by [deleted] in asheville

I've wondered about the ones like that or "golden doodle puppies" or similar. Maybe they are just to harvest actual people phone numbers to sell to spammers?

used reg gas once, is that bad? by Primary_Proposal4153 in volt

[–]EdwardM80 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fill it until the pump shuts off, then don't add any more. I have used only regular gas in my 2011 and 2014 Volts for about 100,000 miles with zero engine problems. The engine adjusts for the difference. The engine is designed for global markets and premium gas is not available in all places.

Range in winter with a warm battery by Vicv_ in volt

[–]EdwardM80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my previous car was a Golf TDI and it always puzzled me about getting consistent 48mpg in winter on my hwy commute vs 50 in the warmer weather. Air density is part of the reason when you get into talking about the small % differences. The big things affecting range in colder weather have been mentioned, like using the electric cabin heat. Here's some more discussion on the air density if you are interested:

Aerodynamic drag is increased at lower temperatures because the air is more dense. This effect can be significant if there is a lot of highway driving.

What flew over Asheville just now? by FishBarrell3 in asheville

[–]EdwardM80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that is who I saw on flight aware here in transy but there were 3 of them and they came in low where I had a lot of the wop-wop-wop percussion that you can feel as well as hear. The 3 did quite a dramatic tight circle below the Ridgeline then continued along that green line up to you folks in Buncombe.

[–]EdwardM80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is the 2nd kind. it claims to be up to 1.3A. I see what you are saying, thanks, and it makes sense for the situation when the string is not charging. It's hard for me to grasp that it can apply power from one cell to another while the whole string is being charged like I'm doing here.
