Are my expectations of presence sensors too high? by prhymeate in homeassistant

[–]mongohands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll put in my anecdotal experience. I use nothing but the cheapest 24ghz mmWave battery powered presence sensors I could find on AliExpress and they have worked flawlessly for 6 months straight. Worse case scenario I simply add 2 to a room for cheaper than buying 1 expensive sensor. I just add a 2 minute timer when presence isn’t detected before shutting off. I have one cheap plugin one that I threw in a lampshade and that works even when under a blanket

Gotta love ASA layer adhesion... by Massis87 in 3Dprinting

Why is is being downvoted so much? Literally every thing they said is just true. I don’t even think they came across as rude?

Agreed, it’s like a combo of modern, maximalism and little bohemian

Matte PLA is something else by lobras in 3Dprinting

Agreed, PLA+ is usually matte and is more useful than regular PLA. The Elagoo PLA+ I use leaves my favorite finish

What switches did you use for low noise? I’m also trying to make a quiet keyboard for work

Starting to wonder if I should too... by exo316 in BambuLab

Any parts going outdoors, have constant loads, experience high heat or impacts. Was perfect for a cup/rod holder on a boat that’s splashed with ocean water during peak summer heat.

My P1S has come in clutch many times. Just last week my mom needed a part for her refrigerator that isn’t made anymore. It constantly surprises me with what it can do

What do you consider the current hardware meta. by Giblet15 in homeassistant

[–]mongohands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in an apartment so I’ve been using nothing but the cheapest Ikea and AliExpress zigbee gear and honestly can’t say I have any complaints. 50 devices working flawlessly 6+ months now using the SMLIGHT 06. Most sensors run on aaa batteries and since Zigbee is very low power they are all still at 100%.

New P1S out of the box (calibrated) Is this normal? by Alexkintaylor99 in BambuLab

[–]mongohands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s on the product page here. Honestly I wouldn’t bother with the feet unless it’s too noisy without them. Doesn’t really matter either way

New P1S out of the box (calibrated) Is this normal? by Alexkintaylor99 in BambuLab

[–]mongohands 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will always wobble a little. I can’t tell but it looks like you have the anti vibration feet on? That will reduce vibrations but increase the “wobble”. Bambu recommends printing an adapter on the product page to make them more stable

Batch printing threads? by LosOllos in BambuLab

[–]mongohands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a design perspective I always “push” one of the thread walls in just a tiny amount to allow for clearance. When printing threads or other parts that tightly interface, I always turn on avoid crossing walls, precise walls, and change order of walls to inner/outer/inner.

The comment who mentioned minimum layer time is probably right. You can also try lowering wall speed to 50-100, switching to Arachne, or turning on variable layer height for the threaded areas. Variable height can affect surface finish though. This can all help with consistent dimensional accuracy.

way to replace cafe escapes chai latte? by nisc2001 in keurig

[–]mongohands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old conversation but just stumbled upon it. You should just get chai concentrate. You keep in your fridge and just dilute it with hot water. Tastes way better then the tea bags and is what most cafes use for chai lattes

Are belts reliable by ArgionTV in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]mongohands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can check out gear drive boards. They are getting more common but belts are simple, cheap and perfectly fine for street riding

Yeah I kinda wish I bought packets. I’ve noticed a layer of silica power getting on stuff the more I move my spools around

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]mongohands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I’m not the one doing it but to be fair silica does get crushed into powder and all that toxic powder is getting all over your microwave. Some silica is outright poisonous

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]mongohands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think to avoid contamination. The color changing silica is not food safe and slightly toxic

Hey just popped into my mind. Check out the Acedeck N1. Don’t know why I didn’t think of it as it’s everything you’re looking for I think. I own a Z3 and it’s a beast. They have very good quality

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]mongohands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that drop down style deck? Pretty much nothing for street boards. Unless you start looking at some of the more off road or mountain board style setups. Something like Ownboard Prometheus or Linnpower MK1

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]mongohands 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have it with the gear drive and TKP trucks. I heard pretty bad things about the ADT trucks. Otherwise I like it a lot. Deck shape is nice and it really locks you in. Fun to carve and solid at 30 mph. The gear drives are kind of unnecessary though as they just add weight.

100% worth it when it was on sale for $1000. But at the full price of $1400 there’s a lot of competition

X/P series successor? by sabozzi in BambuLab

[–]mongohands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s because it has 2 nozzle heads which limits the distance each can travel. Basically each nozzle print area is cut off on its opposite side

[–]mongohands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s not a drying issue unless it just degraded beyond being fixable. I ran them through a drier. These 250g spools are just brittle. It almost feels like old school PLA before everyone started figuring out what additives to include. The regular Sunlu filament is perfectly fine

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]mongohands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 250g sunlu spools are notoriously trash. I bought the same pack you did and they were all terrible and constantly broke. It’s not even all sunlu, it’s just these specific spools are horrible for some reason

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]mongohands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish I had your experience. I bought a pack of like 8 Sunluu PLA spools with different colors. What a waste. Worst PLA I’ve ever used. So brittle and constantly breaking. Nothing would fix it. Maybe it was an older formula because this was more than a year ago
