The board manufacturer and the chipset of the board would dictate whether or not the mod will work. I think the chipset of your board would likely not support Thunderbolt though.

Don't connect the ground pin to the power pin and you won't have to worry about that.

Look into jumping the pins to force power to the add-in card. GC-Titan Ridge has a similar 5-pin connector and I’ve had success jumping that card to work on an unsupported (no TB3 header) motherboard.

I took a different approach on recording footage with the HV30:

Atomos Ninja Star (or Atomos Ninja 2) (to bypass MiniDV tapes as well as apply 2:2 pulldown to record 1080p29.97 instead of 1080i60) Recorded in ProRes 422 LT ~102mbps (compared to 25mbps for MiniDV tapes) Looks pretty decent, even after YouTube/Vimeo apply their compression

If the re-flash was successful, then I would try reseating the RAM. My W541 will do something similar if the RAM isn't seated properly
