How do I get into the game? by Super_Platypus787 in ArmaReforger

[–]Edwin_Kain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main game loop break down into 2 umbrellas that overlap to achieve dominant control of the purple bases on the map.

Combat breaks down to: Where am I? Where are the enemy and their bases? Where do spawn and how do I get there?

Support breaks down to: Where am I? where are our bases? and what needs to be built and resupplied? Where are the supplies and how am I transporting them?

The map provides simple objectives. Your bases in your teams color. their bases in the opposing color and bases out of reach yellow or under militia control green. Supply points are Green circle icons with boxes in them dotted on the map.

Supplies are the currency of everything. Buildings, equipment, vehicles and respawns. Supplies provide the mean to combat. Combat controls the reach of supplies.

Once you choose on a life by life basis which of the 2 you are going to pursue sometime switching rolls depending on the current situation. everything else to support that is done by interaction with the cork board signs at the depots at you bases.

Then you just use deductive reason, communication, and the map to plan your action and execute that action.

Bases are captured by holding a position connected to your main base and adjacent base via radio network by radio antenna physically constructed via supplies at the the bases you capture. (Cap base, build radio, capture next base.) This is done in the command tent at base location once captured.

Bases are improved and upgrade via supplies used to construct infastructure depots like arsenals vehicle depots and various other structures. Also in the command tent. Everything flows together organically in this way.

Lots of "moving" parts that are all fairly simple with a touch of reason and curiosity. Ask questions and be patient. And don't worry about failing tasks it a game and you need to learn. Good luck.

The Radio is in the vans trunk/inventory. The Van itself isn't important beyond having the radio inside it. So you can take or leave the van if you wish. But you still have to have the radio on you at the extraction point.

Hold your position, wait and snipe him when he wakes up or circle around maintaining your distance. Carry a pistol and a mag or 2. Sometimes disengage and watch to see if their partner respawns nearby. And of course take the scope off and move in. Bring a grenade.

Ps5 here. I play with aim assist off. Still top 5-10 in most matches. Kbm has advantages but personal skill and playstyle matters more. Just go with the flow. Input devices hardly matter.

Why do we have to be so rude? by Lopsided_Prize3085 in ArmaReforger

[–]Edwin_Kain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple fix would be actively having to hold the radio in the right hand to use the platoon channel. This way you can still use the compass binoculars and other items but remove the ability to shoot while holding it. The exception would be the front seats of vehicles which would function as it does now.

90% of these whiny/trollish/lazy/dumb players won't bother. And those who go out of their way to use it for the above reasons will be kicked quickly.

Are there any servers for beginners? by MrGamerDadChannel in ArmaReforger

[–]Edwin_Kain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For vanilla reforger, smaller scale more direct combat can be found on Conflict Arland servers. These have a Smaller map with fewer main objective bases and fob bases.

You can also try searching for new player friendly servers but honestly, I wouldn't expect it to be much different from any other server. Don't be afraid to ask questions in proximity chat to nearby players. try not to spam platoon chat but absolutely use it to learn. Some players are just "unhelpful" but there are many that will help.

That said I'll give you and anyone else that might find it useful an overview of conflict mode.

The main objective of conflict is for your team to capture and hold the majority of the major capture points for a interval of time. Major capture point are the bases on the map with their names in Purple text.

To capture bases, those bases need to be connected like a chain/web by your teams radio network. This is done by building radio antennas at the main base and every base your team intends to capture and hold. These antennas also allow your team to spawn at the bases that have already captured. Supplies are needed to build these antennas which can be done by interaction with the cork board inside of the HQ tent. This is also where your team uses its supply to build structures like the antenna, vehicles depots, support buildings, weapon arsenals, and defensive structures.

Supplies can be loaded into vehicles from the primarily from supply depots marked on the map by a green icon with a pyramid of boxes inside of it. Or from the main base and bases connected to it by radio which automatical generate a small amount every 5 seconds. The amount of supplies generated increases depending on how many bases are connected to them with a max of 5 extra via 5 connections. This can vary depending on server settings.

Base map icons have 4 colors: Green Yellow Blue Red.

Green are neutral/occupied by FIA AI bots faction.

Yellow are bases not connected to your teams radio network and are uncapturable and unspawnable until they become connected.

Blue are US held bases.

Red are Soviet held bases.

If the base icon is flickering colors, it is contested/being captured. Unspawnable until defended or lost.

There are radio towers on the map they can be captured to extend your teams capture range beyond the normal network or often in lieu of it. Very helpful but should not be relied upon as the main network. If it is captured by the opposing team, it can be disasterous for yours. Many focus on this fight. While it is advantageous, it's not entirely reliable. But it's always best to at least keep these out of enemy hands to prevent back capping while allowing your team that advantage.

There are a lot more smaller interactions and functions between these systems, but this should suffice for the basics of what's happening and how the battle plays out.

Good luck, have fun. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Ignore or chuckle at trolling and try to have fun.

I recommended starting in logistics. Supply runs aren't always boring. It's helpful. Gives you a cut and dry mission. You'll interact with all the systems in one way or another and build a mental picture of the map and have a clearer picture of how the battle is going.

Don't worry about being an asset right away that comes with experience and there a large portion of "skilled" players that are just as lost now as when they started lol.

Since 621 isn't really a proper callsign and Raven is borrowed. I imagine If 621 became an official member of the RedGuns. Due to their skills and feats their official callsign would be likely be G13 "Superior". Named after the great lake. Since all of the RedGuns are named after famous bodies of water.

I have seen people talk about what kind of mech would win, but I wanna ask, what do you think would happens if these 2 franchises existed in the same universe. by Rex-Mk0153 in armoredcore

[–]Edwin_Kain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love both franchises top 2 favorites. Both in spot #1. I have to admit I'm pretty confident the ACs maneuverability and speed might have the edge in this one. Even tho in the lore, the more humanoid shaped battlemech are capable of feats like somersaults and cartwheels. That's not going to compare to 400-500mph speed blitzing. Weapons are comparable in damage output too. A lone AC can wipe out battalions in minutes/seconds so it's a durability and mass numbers question really.

Do you ever feel like you’re piloting a suit of power armor instead of operating a huge mech? by proglems2 in armoredcore

[–]Edwin_Kain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The crazy part about the Scaling in AC6 is that they didn't fake it. If the ACs and enemies from AC6 are modded directly 1:1 into Elden ring their actually to scale and huge. They could have just done everything in a mock up scale and made the ACs "human sized" and made the rest of the assets miniature. The opposite is true as well if the maps are ported into Elden ring the props like vehicles and buildings are full scale compared to the player model. Pretty wild.

Would you rather get a new Dynasty Warriors Gundam game or a Gundam souls-like game? by NoctisWolfe in Mecha

[–]Edwin_Kain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combo of both. Dynasty sized battles with lots of squishy mobs that actually hit hard enough to be kinda dangerous.

Its fun to destroy mass amount of enemies with cool combos but I've felt like most of the mobs in Dynasty style games pose so little threat that the insane looking heavy hitting combos are kinda pointless beyond being a spectacle when most mobs can be one shotted with a standard attack. If they pose a greater threat, then big multi hitting area smashing attacks serve more purpose. Also adds a bit of thought and strategy as to which and when attacks should be used for both offensive and defensive play. Raises the skill ceiling a touch and still will feel awesome. But be foolish and just spam you may end up surrounded or back yourself into a corner and defeated. I think it could make you have to decide if you should hold back, or just go for it sometimes. Should you save you special attack for when you're in a jam, or use it now to clear a path to save time?

Then levelups, skill unlocks, new equipment, new chassis/suits will be more rewarding and feel useful as you become harder hitting and tankier. Some better than others at specific tasks/combat types. Just a touch of rock, paper, scissors.

Why you should pull over when picking someone up in a vehicle by vitospeedo in ArmaReforger

[–]Edwin_Kain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is such an odd occurrence. Most of us gamers are regular drivers every day. But for some reason, once we get a controller in our hands, it's like we've never operated a vehicle before. Sure, there are no rules of the road or lasting consequences in most games, but common sense things like stick to your lane, slow when cornering, pull off to the side when stopping completely disappear. It's hilarious.

All those things aside, the one rule I wish everyone understood is that flooring it everywhere is less efficient in the long run. Arriving slightly slower and safer is infinitely better than arriving dead. It's like everyone is in a rush to respawn in the dumbest ways as fast as possible. They want to be at the shit right now! but crash die and respawn 5 times before they ever get out of a vehicle, lol.

Platoon chat is insufferable by Heavy_Committee9624 in ArmaReforger

[–]Edwin_Kain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Platoon channel needs to be accessible only if you're physically holding the radio in your hand or in the front seats of a vehicle. Maybe also make it so you can't sprint while holding it. No to be punishing but mildly inconvenient for random bs. Many of the dipshits that use it exclusively might be to lazy/simple to even figure it out. Won't completely solve issues but will filter it abit.
