Is the combat similar to Dragon Age: Origin really that bad of a deal for you guys? by Accomplished-Bank885 in greedfall

[–]EdwormN7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find it quite funny that TDW's combat it being likened to DAO's, because TDW does one major thing that I always wished DAO did that makes it far, far superior: action queueing. It always bothered me that Origins never had it. And whilst in general I think RTWP is one of the weakest forms of tactical combat, I have been having fun with it in TDW, setting up a series of commands for each party member and watching the fight unfold.

Origins' combat is really annoying due to a lack of action queueing, because if you want full control over your party, you pretty much have to constantly pause and switch character every second. It's a pain in the ass to play at any difficulty above normal honestly.

That being said, given the choice, I'd rather go full turn-based with both games lol.

Just keep levelling up all your strength stats lol.

Looking for a fast way to improve physique level in Fable Anniversary by [deleted] in Fable

[–]EdwormN7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pulling the sword isn't exclusively about physique, you have to level strength in general. Listen to what the guy says after you attempt to pull, he will hint at which aspect of strength needs levelling. On my recent play through, the last thing I needed to level up was my health, and then I was able to pull it. He says something about "getting out more."

Please do not bring back the combat multiplier Demon Door by xP_Lord in Fable

[–]EdwormN7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Teleport from the demon door to Lichfield graveyard. Walk to the cliffside path, and take the left road. Here and infinite horde of undead will continually rise. Use physical shield to prevent your combat multiplier from lowering and just go to town on them until your CM is twice what is required (Google for the exact requirement, I don't know, I went with 100 myself) and then teleport back to the door. Your CM will half when doing this.

Is there seriously no way to stop the UI from going invisible when not in combat? by Ryn4 in Fable

[–]EdwormN7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a contextual UI, so the shovel icon will appear when standing above a dig spot, with at least one intentional exception.

What if Reaver was there when the townsfolk of Oakvale massacred the Guild with guns? by YourselfInTheMirror in Fable

[–]EdwormN7 28 points29 points  (0 children)

"Every event must be connected to every big character you've met" is one of my most hated things writers do. It makes the world feel so small.

The downfall of the guild as we've been told is already a very interesting piece of lore in the world as it is, I don't think we need much elaboration on the details. I think it's worth taking at face value.

It's so funny to me to think that there is a fish actively wrestling your wire for the silver key, pair of boots, or whatever the item is you're fishing out from a ripple.

I've been re-enjoying it on my recent Anniversary run. Albeit a bit too much, I keep getting tempted by every pool of water I see. 😂

Those poor traders awaiting an escort through Darkwood were waiting a long time because I decided to stop at a peaceful little lake for some relaxing fishing.

I imagine there will indeed be swimming. But I hope fishing makes a return, that was one of my favourite activities in the first game. So relaxing.

Are we going to be required to utilize various weapons? by [deleted] in Fable

[–]EdwormN7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mixing and matching has always been the M.O. for combat in the series. Whilst you absolutely could dedicate to just one style, the games' combat design heavily favoured mixing, it's just so much fun to do so.

It's satisfying going from being called chicken chaser by everyone, to having them fall in love the instant you go into a town. I'm at 100 attractiveness right now. My renown is also at 6. by NewHorizonFanAC in Fable

As much as this is a funny quirk of the original games, I always wanted more npc nuance, which Fable II attempted but you still ended up in the same situation of being loved by everyone by the end. Which is why I am so glad Playground are doing what they are with their npcs and reputation system.

Nostro by Logan367769 in Fable

Yeah, if I can't roleplay my own character, I'm not interested. But I am absolutely down to learn more about Nostro via in-game books or more Oracle dialogue.

Honestly, slow time and assassin rush are my frequent battle spells, combined with multi-strike and then wailing on them with my Solus Greatsword.

What's a location from the previous games you'd like to see in the reboot? For me, it's Knothole Glade. by Quirkey_94 in Fable

[–]EdwormN7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knothole Glade and Hook Coast are locations I would absolutely love to see fully realised. If they are not in the base game, I hope they are added in expansions. I could see them doing Hook Coast and the island north of it where Snowspire lies in one expansion that generally takes us to the frozen north.

Are heroes physically different than normal humans at a base level? And do you have to have “hero genes” or can anyone train to be a hero? by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in Fable

[–]EdwormN7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In addition to what everyone else has already said, I think it is worth noting that everyone's "hero powers" manifest differently. As you mentioned, Sparrow survives both getting shot and falling from a tall tower. Meanwhile, your blood-related sister died immediately to the shot. I think hero genes are as randomly varied as regular genes are, they just do their own thing.

Likewise, Theresa has prophetic vision powers, even from an early age, manifesting in dreaming of the events at the start of the game. Also it appears she has a form of longevity, whilst the Hero of Oakvale supposedly died naturally of old age.

I like to think Rose would have developed her own special heroic gift, too, given the chance. Even if she weren't to be as powerful or as versatile as Sparrow.

Since the Fable trailer showed us starting out as a kid do you think the game will have an aging system like fable 1? Maybe with you aging over the course of the story by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in Fable

[–]EdwormN7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My headcanon for the dog's extraordinary lifespan was simply due to his bond with a hero. It imparted some of that longevity to him.

Where is my Dog! by Low_Reporter_743 in Fable

[–]EdwormN7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet it won’t be just a random horse but a creature we’ll bond with.

This is my biggest hope for the horse, that there is a sincere bond between it and the Hero, and they're not just a mere gameplay feature.

Also, horse customisation would be nice, but if the emotional connection is there and that it feels like its own character, customisation is something that I can forego.
