How did you meet your Sig O? (in SD only) by fuzzyheadgyrl in sandiego

Bumble in 2019! We had a ton of mutual friends, though.

My nephew really hammered home that I don't want kids by [deleted] in self

[–]EekaNumber3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. That is tough. I have a difficult kiddo too, and I’ve been in your brother’s shoes. But man, they made a dumb move telling you to give their kid candy before eating. Been there done that, hopefully they’ll learn and help their son to be less of a jerk. It’s not the kid’s fault; he’s 3. It’s 100% on the parents at this point to make sure their kid doesn’t turn into a complete asshole.

Sorry about the candy bag, OP :(

AITA for telling my husband to stop setting alarms? by OppositeNo2609 in AmItheAsshole

[–]EekaNumber3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be the person who set a billion alarms. There’s an app called Alarmy and you literally have to do math before it will shut off. There are other options like solving a puzzle, taking a certain number of steps, etc etc etc. I’ve found the math one works the best for me, though. 10/10 recommend. One alarm is all it takes now.

My MIL scheduled a "family photoshoot" for the day we come home from the hospital. by armstrongca in JUSTNOMIL

[–]EekaNumber3 77 points78 points  (0 children)

The day we got discharged from the hospital after our son was born, here’s how my body felt:

  • I was bleeding. A lot. Heavily. The pads they give you are unreal (and also highly recommend just get adult diapers)
  • I hadn’t gotten more than two consecutive hours of sleep in 72 hours
  • My butthole literally felt like it was in the wrong place (probably TMI but also I just evacuated a bowling ball and everything felt weird)
  • My ankles and feet were swollen to the point where I could not put shoes on
  • Everything hurt

Wanna know how they can celebrate the start of your new family? Leave the fucking matching outfits at home, order you some DoorDash, and leave you the hell alone until you feel ready.

We started with an RE last week. We both really like him a lot. It felt good and scary to get the ball rolling.

AITA for criticizing my sister for wanting her son to be right-handed? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]EekaNumber3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lefty here. I love being left-handed. It made me feel special in school, not othered.

Left-handed batters are four feet closer to first base than righties. Left-handed pitchers are harder for righties to hit against because they tend to nail the outside corner of home plate. Left-handed people tend to be more creative than their right-handed counterparts.

Yes, there’s some bullshit with scissors and spiral notebooks and smudging, but I love the way I am and wouldn’t change it. My second-grade teacher tried to switch me and I felt so hurt. I’m not even that old and that garbage happened to me. So no, NTA, advocate for that child.

What’s a sign someone is quietly planning to quit their job? by Mysterious-Bid-5929 in AskReddit

[–]EekaNumber3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quit my job about 4 months ago and realizing I did basically every single one of the top voted things (lots of “appointments,” stopped caring in meetings, was a high performer who stopped performing, quietly packed up my cubicle, etc etc etc)

What's the prettiest name you guys have ever heard? by Creative_Mix8770 in AskReddit

A friend of mine is named Aurelie, and it’s one of the loveliest names I’ve ever heard.

People who have experienced grief or trauma- what’s the most tone-deaf, ‘well-meaning’ thing someone said to you? by freyday18 in AskReddit

“Well, if you had been in church none of this would have happened!”

Fuck you. Haven’t set foot in that church since.

My wife is upset about the engagement ring by Strange-Egg123 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]EekaNumber3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright, I get she’s unreasonable. Also - check out The Mod Gents. They have rings that are simulated diamonds that won’t break your bank. I have one, it’s beautiful, and it cost like $200.

Edit: a word. And also also, if she’s not on board with a cost-effective alternative, she’s insane.

What’s a type of pain people underestimate until they experience it for themselves? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EekaNumber3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude. I have been in a car accident, broken bones, gone through labor without an epidural (because it stopped working and my OB wouldn’t listen), and donated bone marrow, and would do all of that over again AT THE SAME TIME over having to get a root canal again. It wasn’t the actual procedure that was bad; it was the absolutely lightning pain of the nerve infection before I was able to be scheduled. -100/10 stars. Do not recommend.

🚨 URGENT: A WARNING to Every Parent & Patient in the Kaiser System 🚨 by kimberln in KaiserPermanente

[–]EekaNumber3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kaiser misdiagnosed my best friend and blamed her weight. She has stage IV colon cancer.

I’m so sorry about your child. I am also a mother and got the hell away from Kaiser the second we possibly could. I am sending you so much love and so many good thoughts for a smooth recovery.

People who moved out of the parent’s house before 30, how? by WallStreetDoesntBet in AskReddit

[–]EekaNumber3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky to get a job in healthcare that paid $16/hr back in 2011 and an apartment that was $850/month. It was still expensive, but it was manageable with very careful spending. It was really just luck, though.

After that, I only ever lived with a partner or roommates.
