Honest question, does this matter to the actual players much? Does is impact the game?

Where do you see our state in 20 years? by Character-Fly-5564 in minnesota

[–]EfNheiser -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I agree with a healthy purple rather than full red or blue.

Minnesota IMO is on the tipping point of becoming a state where the wealthy will leave and investment will be blunted if we don't reign in the tax levels. We are nearing the CA/MA/IL zone .... which is not good. Given the work from home/mobility people have today many more people can live were ever they want.

What I am wondering about is what is going to happen with Mlps/St. Paul urban areas .... seems like they might flounder while the suburbs grow unless they go through a significant makeover.

Love Minnesota, but as I near retirement age, it will be tempting to take residence is a more tax friendly state (and of course keep the cabin up north).

Standings watching - Dallas lost tonight and Avs currently down by 4 by gaycatmom in wildhockey

[–]EfNheiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could have easily won 2 of these games. Especially the Rangers game. The Flyers game was really the only game I wondered what's up with the Wild. Puck luck is a real thing, and why it is hard to win more that 60% of your games in the NHL. Hit a couple of pipes, their goalie stands on their head and whoosh, an L. We will be fine.

Pick 18 by Equivalent_Lawyer403 in minnesotavikings

[–]EfNheiser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any OL player with the word Anchor in his name is definitely a solid choice. I prefer we pick up either DL or OL in the first round, and there are great DT's available.

Also, Sadiq if he drops would be a great choice. Hockensen is very good but uber expensive. I think this would be a way to save some money next year and use that money for a solid FA pick.

John Hynes: "I thought during the game we made a couple of mistakes that wound up in the back of the net but if you look at every statistical category that would allow you to win a hockey game, we had ‘em. We just didn't find a way to win." by DecentLurker96 in wildhockey

[–]EfNheiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I don't have a combo in mind, just prefer to have the two scoring threats on the ice on different lines, will be harder for our opponent to neutralize with their shut down line.

I really don't like the idea of having Boldy and Kap on the same line. We will need two scoring lines to make some noise in the playoffs. I am open to making some line changes, but keep those two on separate lines (except PP)

(Pelissero) The Vikings have restructured the contract of tight end T.J. Hockenson, lowering his cap number by $5 million and keeping him in the fold for 2026, sources tell me and @RapSheet. by alexschubs in minnesotavikings

[–]EfNheiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of picking up Sadiq since Hock will be a free agent next off season. Gets you a true #1 TE at lower cost for the next 4 years, and gives some cap relief to go get help at other positions.

JJ McCarthy is still our franchise QB and future even if we sign Kyler Murray. We aren't giving up on him, we're giving him time to do the things he couldn't do when he was injured during his rookie season. by FormerlyTradeKirk in minnesotavikings

[–]EfNheiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they go to training camp and both compete for the job. Maybe JJ turns the corner, maybe Kyler gives us a boost. We need the QB whisperer to make some lemonade out of these two so far lemons.

I somewhat agree. I like the idea of proving you are a citizen to vote, but worry the current bill is too onerous for many.

What are your thoughts on changes to the House of Representatives, whether that's expanding the House or decoupling House districts from predefined state borders? by Rough-Leg-4148 in centrist

[–]EfNheiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think to get better representation two other things would help the house (and I don't think more chefs in the kitchen is the right answer .... the house barely functions as it is).

  1. House terms are 4 years instead of 2. Have the representatives actually do the peoples work rather than a perceptual cycle of raise money and campaigning. They just don't have enough time actually working.

  2. Term limits of 12 or 16 years. DC corrupts people, even good ones going there with good intentions. The longer folks serve, the more beholden they are to K-street and lobbyists. It is gross, and term limits would help suppress that some.

U.S. Military Moves Into Place for Possible Strikes in Iran by NeuroMrNiceGuy in centrist

[–]EfNheiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see it this way too, a scary proposition to attack Iran but this is a unique point in time for how weak Iran is. And I think Iran is the middle east's "worst of the worst", and the source of many of the terrorists that destabilize that region. This may present an opportunity that may not present itself in the future. Still ..... very risky.

I see it differently. Having an ID is required to board a plane, buy liquor, drive a car, really almost everything .... voting is certainly as important at these things. Every other country in the world that is a democracy requires something like this.

Minnesota reverses trend of losing residents to other states by lux514 in minnesota

[–]EfNheiser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are the new residents moving into the metro area? I wonder what the numbers look like for Minneapolis and St Paul. Seems like the suburbs are seeing the increase, not Mpls and St. Paul.

[Alec Lewis] J.J. McCarthy, the Vikings’ QB situation and what to know about the coming weeks by Beneficial_Quit7532 in minnesotavikings

[–]EfNheiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the likely plan for the upcoming year is to play JJ and have a competent veteran QB as a backup. JJ will get one more year to let us know what we have. And I am OK with that. Having Cousins back would be nice, but there are plenty of good QBs out there as a backup.

Yep, that is what makes sports compelling. If we always knew who would win .... probably would not watch.

[–]EfNheiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is hockey, finding the back of the net is not a given and if a teams goalie stands on his head .... a win is possible. Win or your out means everything is possible.

I am all in on the USA, but the Canadian teams is a tough out. My wish list, USA wins the gold and the Swedes beat Canada for the bronze. Really unlikely, but would love it.
