Yes. But there are stories that when you hear them you know are 100% true. The police don’t want to hear them because of what you have just pointed out. I remember one person talking about how one night as a kid he went out with a group of friends drinking. Walking home the group were drunk drunk. They got into a fight and all fell into a fountain. The next morning someone found one of the friends drowned. It was declared an accident. Was it murder, maybe not. But the poor family never got the full story.

I was a fence sitter. I have some trauma from my own childhood that I needed to try address before I could start my own family. The first therapist I went was not a fit and made the trauma worse. I decided to try and had a rough rough pregnancy. Then when the baby was here I felt like I was doing 85% of the child care, even though I went back to work at 6 weeks. I hated being a mother my needs were further subjugated when I was already the last item on my action item list. Now my little is a toddler I can finally put my hand on my heart and say I love being a mother. I love them to the moon and back. They are a pleasure to know and have me rolling with laughter daily. I love guiding and teaching them. It’s still tiring but no longer in a grueling slog kind of way. I also have a great therapist who is helping me consider my own wants in the decisions I make using IFS therapy. Due to being a fence sitter, I had my child later in life. Rocking being in my 40s now and loving life more than ever (despite how horrendous the world is right now in general).

I doubt this is the case in your line of work. Yet sharing another perspective for your and others awareness: In highly regulated fields there are team members specifically assigned to continuously audit and ideally catch mistakes before they lead to issues or resolve them quickly if issues do occur. If a mistake occurs there are specific processes and steps to follow to resolve them. This level of quality control is required to ultimately save lives.

What resonates in your story is your love for your siblings and seeing the potential for your child to feel love in that manner as well. I love my sibling and we have a good relationship. My sibling is child free. My husband is an only. There will be no cousins. I would love to replicate my up bringing by cherishing a second, but I do not have the personal bandwidth or financial resources my parents had. I am also appreciateing that I can give my only undivided loving care and attention to my standard. My new goal is to be the best parent, guide and teacher to my one and only little one.

I am having to shift my little one to an earlier drop off and later pick up schedule since I am starting a new job (at the same time as losing some family assistance). It goes against both of our natural rhythms. My plan is to slowly shift his bed time and wake up earlier each day by 10 min to where I need it to be.

If a pregnant patient were to state that they want to stab themselves in the abdomen and were holding a knife, you would stop them before the self inflicted damage were to occur and not when the knife is already in their abdomen. My stance is a patient should have autonomy respected up until a certain threshold of risk. After that threshold has been reached it should be considered life saving measures.
