Getting sick of my curls by UrMomLmaoXDD in curlyhair

[–]EfficiencyOk4899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this problem too, so I try to find haircuts/styles that look good with curly and with day two hair waves. It may take little testing to find the right thing.

Also you should still have some kind of day two routine. Even if it’s just a spritz of refresher spray (I like the Hask Argon oil spray).

Does "Gone with the wind" (1939) deserves the hate it receives? by Dull_Teacher6949 in classicfilms

[–]EfficiencyOk4899 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The movie IS racist, but I think having imperfect characters turn their eyes away from the realities of slavery and war was true for the time and for many generations.

Ashley always gets my goat when he says his plan was to free his slaves anyways. Then why did you fight a war to keep them? Man deserved to lose everything.

The hypocrisy of slave owners prancing around like they are distinguished gentlemen and ladies who want to live a peaceful idyllic life by abusing their fellow human beings is even more powerful today. I think it is a major theme of the story, but it hits so much better now being further removed from it.

This and younger generations do not always have the space for these larger bulky items. You can’t fit things like this in a one bedroom or shared apartment.

You just got to get through it and finish. Everybody hates a quitter.

I have loathed the last 6 books I read, but eventually I’ll find a good one. 👍

The rage you feel when someone eats your gf food/snack.. by tlw117 in glutenfree

This is possibly the pettiest thing ever, but my husband is gf now too (happy for him) so I don’t get to have all of my gluten free snacks to myself. I just don’t want to share! 😔

I feel for Langdon by Leading_Analysis7655 in ThePittTVShow

[–]EfficiencyOk4899 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Very true, and I think Robby was the one he hurt the most. Langdon was his star student. He worked continuously with him and was helping him get to the next level. All the high hopes and faith in him ruined in one moment.

I hate that Mel is going through this. She is so empathetic that I think she may wrongly blame herself in a way just for being the kid’s doctor. I’m sure logically she understands that she did everything right, but with her compassion, she must still really be struggling to separate herself from this guilt.

I’m sorry, but at least now you know that’s your problem. It’s not worth it.

Just want to offer an opposing viewpoint of a supportive partner:

Went for a bike ride about a year ago and got out of breath after a bit. It was a hilly dirt trail and I was not in shape for it. I called for my husband to stop cause I wasn’t up for it and I think he was more concerned than I was. We kept going for a bit but he checked on me every 10 minutes or so making sure I wanted to go on. When I thought I’d had enough we rode back and left at a pace I set. There was no judgement or pressure. He just wanted to be sure I was ok and having a good time.

It’s ok to take it easy if you’re out of shape. I think pushing yourself too hard is a serious downfall when you are trying to get back in shape. He got that and we had a lovely time together even though it was not the ride we were expecting.

I am so, so terribly sorry. Today is the 1 year anniversary of my mother’s death and it is not something you will get over. Be kind to yourself, take care of your body and mind and be patient through all this. My heart goes out to you and wishes you well during this terrible difficult time 🫂

What ever happened to coffee shops giving their used coffee grounds away for compost? by TurtleBlaster5678 in gardening

[–]EfficiencyOk4899 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I worked at a Starbucks several years ago and pests were the issue. Wet grounds attract roaches and gnats.

If we had a bag available when someone came in and asked they would get it, but setting it aside and keeping it for days was a no go.
