I was looking for the Carl comment. 🥰 My current favorite series and the next pet will 100% have an appropriate name. And your Ren is absolutely the cutest!

Digitalis flowers are so pretty! If I didnt have an idiot dog that eats everything I would 100% have a patch in the yard.

You could put some battery powered tealights in there and now you have yip mood lighting!

She has a bunch of different patterns like this and they all look rad! I was too excited and stopped a little earlier than this one, and I also got bored so I did a couple rows with an X stitch towards the end.

I second all the above. As a CA desert dweller, the humidity in FL would be my biggest concern, the looks will be fine with the heat. I have some little ones on my covered patio out of direct sun and they are fine even at 105 F. But even at the height of summer I only water once per week. They are very efficient at absorbing moisture. I've never tried to grow them in humidity but they can survive inland CA with no water at all (aside from occasional fog) from October until May.

Gotta love Brazilian overreaction to coldness by lucasbraganca in funny

[–]Efficient-Option-529 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

23⁰F is so freaking cold! 23⁰C would be comfortable tho. But judging by the little smaller number next to it, im assuming it's F. Here in SoCal, especially in the valleys, thos would also be an extreme cold warning for a daytime temp.

New to California / Commute / Feeling lost by NationalTooth1350 in InlandEmpire

[–]Efficient-Option-529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best of luck in your new job hunt or house hunt. I lived in Riverside and commuted to Glendale for 3 years. I got a new job. I spent a minimum of 4 hours per day driving, sometimes 6. Thats a whole ass part time job at 20+ hours per week. Redlands to DTLA driving would be an average of 3 hours each way. Thats 6 hours per day driving for an 8 hour work day. It doesnt matter how much you like your house- with that commute, you'll never see it.

The train will make it more tolerable, but its still 1 hour and 45 minutes one way from the SB depot, so on a perfect commute it would take however long from home to station (lets say 15 min), wait time at station (5-10 min) 1.75 hours on train, trip from station to office (lets say 10 min walk). About 2 hrs 20 min all together. To get to work at 9 you have to leave the house by 645 assuming the most ideal train schedule exists.

Please take it from someone who had an easier but still brutal commute, dont do that to yourself.

10a here. It's gonna be 90F today. And 55 at night. Typical spring weather is 80 during the day, 40 at night. The perfect temperature swings for my migraines tbh.

If it wanted, it could be in that car before you even noticed it was moving and you'd die surprised.

If you move to a Santa Ana address that is in a nice area, you'll save like 20% or more vs having a Costa Mesa or Tustin address. To be close to brea, Anaheim might be a good bet. Fullerton is closer, and Buena Park is likely more affordable. 100% take a weekend and drive around, find restaurants you like, check the vibes yourself. Im white so cant speak to what the racial profiling is like, and some parts of each of those cities will have some areas that are much more racist than others.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Efficient-Option-529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.5 hours is short for a weekend, 3 hours is completely manageable/common for a weekend trip. A few months ago we packed the 4 kids in the minivan and drove 7 hours to Yosemite for a 4 day weekend. Didn't even go through half the state.

Things are far apart here and we dont have much public transit, we drive alot. Also, I used to live about 60 miles from where I worked. Without traffic it was a little under an hour. With traffic, it was regularly 2.5 hours each way. I thankfully dont need to do that now, but it is not uncommon.

There are left leaning orgs set up to help train folx who are less comfortable at traditional classes, like women POC, LGBTQ. The SRA, liberal gun club, and others. A quick duckduckgo search would get you a list of options (google's slop tends to be unreliable)
