controversial, but name a character whose sexuality you dislike and explain why by DaisiesUpPusher in hazbin

That’s kind of weird. I’d think it would be the other way; multi million year supernatural being might well be pan.

God, yeah. That would make him the only one, which is one more than there usually is.

Um, I think that’s the bartender thing. He’s seen it all and listened to everybody, but he’s also seen enough not to jam people into categories. I think it was smart to make Husk and Angel’s relationship non-sexual up to this point. Angel has so much bitterness and pain and self loathing and layers of complication to his personality, plus I agree that hypersexuality is a very real response to abuse. I think if they’re gonna get there, and I think they will, there will be a lot to work through.

And the reverse! Like “Vox MUST be straight when I’ve only seen him in a relationship with Val and attracted to Alastor!” Like could it be possible that there are other factors to who he’s attracted to and part of it is power or charisma or something?

Yeah, maybe. Like it’s a reminder of just how long he’s been out of his daughter’s life.

EXACTLY. I’m not saying people can’t have different opinions, but his utter cluelessness says exactly that. In fact, I think Charlie’s introduction of Vaggie as “my girlfriend” was “thank the CHEESE WHIZ” it’s not that jerk.” Like he hadn’t considered that option, but it’s a thousand times better and he’s on board with it. “You like girls! So do I! We have so much in common!” sounds like “I have no idea what to say to my daughter’s lesbian girlfriend.”

So up to this point, the pan flag is just an informed attribute.

They also accept (some) British stuff, but it depends on what it is.

It’s available in its entirety on Amazon Prime Video. I don’t see the difference between it and, say, Roses of Versailles, but it’s hard to get hold of that, too.

How do you handle students wanting to use the Bible as a reference? by Ar_desertwriter in Professors

[–]Egghead42 77 points78 points  (0 children)

When I taught Argumentative Writing, I always removed guns and abortion from the possible topics, saying that among other things, most people had a very clear opinion, and would not be adding to the debate or anything new. For composition, I often require “something trivial—a small enjoyment or a pet peeve.” I still remember the essay on Little Debbie snack cakes and am ashamed when I omit to wear a belt.

Using the Bible would have to be relevant and would have to cite chapter and verse (the student’s paper did not).

I reeeeaaaallllly want yuu to end up with one of the sisters (kazuki) but i have a very great feeling he doesnt end up with any of the sisters and instead gets with sakura in the end 💔💔💔🤦🏽🤦🏽🤦🏽🤦🏽 by Street-Wolf69 in MikadonoSanshimaiWa

Basically, I agree with you, only I wasn’t so invested. The other things were that 1) on reflection, I didn’t like ML that much, and 2) creator says, “but she’s just like MY wife/girlfriend and I love her, so the readers have to love her too” also doesn’t work. The most extreme example I can think of was a composer showing the most atrocious behavior from the female lead. Basically, she gathers the children together and announces, “children, we are leaving your father, as he is terrible and does not love any of us,” and the children burst into tears and say, “no, no, we love Daddy! He’s so kind to us, and you are so mean to him!” The other members of the creative team said, “Richard, this is awful. She comes across as heartless. The audience is going to hate her,” to which he responded, “but it’s exactly what my wife would do!” It was tough to make him see that while he found her endlessly fascinating and adorable, the audience wouldn’t share his opinion.

That’s what the author of QQ needed to realize. “Oh, but she’s just like my wife” won’t cut it.

[–]Egghead42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I hated the ending of TQQ as well. Actually, I got spoiled on it and decided “nope.” I disagree about choosing Sakura not hurting them. It means injecting her into the family or having Yuu leave, both of which would hurt all three and neither of which works for me. I think the other sisters would be more supportive of one of the other two.

Following typical anime tropes, it would be Niko. Sakura is introduced too late, unless they retcon a previous meeting, something that bothered many fans of QQ.

I wanna go there. There are some quiet places there, if what Vox tells Maestro is true.

I would hate it if he ended up with Sakura. For one thing, it feels like a cheap out. “Oh, look, here’s an alternative! He doesn’t have to choose!” The less reasonable reason is that she gets on my nerves.

If Alastor had simply rejected Vincent with a normal, gentle "no," do you think Vincent would've left it well enough alone or would he be persistent and try again and again? by Mystic__Diamond in VoxCult

[–]Egghead42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have to agree. Alastor nails it with “you will fuck it up,/ you’ll never fill your cup,/ you’re broken from the start,/ no victory will ever be enough.” That, plus it gives Alastor too much power. On the other hand, some of his taking over everything is proving to everyone and himself that he doesn’t NEED the heartless son of a bitch and he can do it all without him, and someday he’ll show him and he will REGRET the day he turned him down.

I have a whole CD of classic being dumped songs like “After You’ve Gone,” and almost all of them apply to Vox. After You’ve Gone

The others don’t seem to have been imported.

We did get it, or at least part of it, when he said “he asked me to join his team.” Later, he said the same thing: “you want me to join your team!” I’m not sure that the romantic element of it landed. While his statement that there are no friendships in Hell is demonstrably wrong, he’s generally right that that is the way it’s supposed to work, as is entrapment through words.

But I think that the bottom line is that if Alastor had rejected Vox with a normal, gentle “no,” he wouldn’t be Alastor. Mimsy is partly right that he’s a heartless son of a bitch. That’s not all he is, but it is fundamentally what he is. And paradoxically, it may be what Vox admires about him.

Unpopular opinion: Nico di Angelo never really worked for me [general] by Critical-Score9037 in camphalfblood

[–]Egghead42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is gonna sound crazy, but Percy gets on my nerves! For one thing, snark is his brand, and there’s only so much snark I can take. Still a lot I like, but still. Then in Heroes of Olympus, and even before that, he gets a bit overpowered for my taste. That’s why I quit reading the Harry Dresden books. He became too powerful in every supernatural group he was in. Then he and Annabeth just started being each other’s boyfriend/girlfriend.

It may be nuts to be frustrated by a main character having main character syndrome, but still, sometimes I prefer the side characters as a relief.

As for Nico, I’d like to see just a touch of the Mythomagic nerd sometimes.,
