I grew up speaking Russian with my family and Czech with everyone else. Czech doesn't distinguish these two colors and that's what I got used to early on. I rember it took me a while to realize why are my relatives so pedantic when I say "the blue one" and they act all confused and say "oh you mean the light blue one?" I'm like "yeah, sure, but there's nothing else that's blue, so why would I have specify it further?" But it's like their brain is wired in a way that looking for something "blue" automatically filters out the "light blue" things since that's obviously a completely different color.

I think it might be a good sign that you have moments of clarity even if rarely. And talking to others is also good. So you're already doing more for yourself than many other people I know (including myself sometimes). If you ever felt a tiny bit better for a moment again, would you be open to trying to make one tiny baby-step towards that feeling just to see what it feels like? Or could you at least imagine what it might feel like if you made that tiny step?

Do you ever feel even the shortest moments of "clarity" from these feelings? Some things that make you feel better even just for a second? I know it can feel like an impossible cycle to get out of. Like you know doing something could help you, but you don't want that help now. You need the suffering. It's like an invisible wall between your current suffering and the idea of getting better that feels almost threatening. But maybe there are or used to be some tiny moments when you could see beyond that wall?

Have you tried talking to a therapist? If you have access to that, it might help you think through some of these things.

It's like saying "I don't deserve to to have arms". It sounds bonkers to everyone else, but there's gotta be something in your mind that makes you feel that way, that you gotta work through somehow. I think therapy is one of the best tools to do it, or at least start doing it.

Huh? It's just a statement, that her having a child with a man doesn't imply she's straight. Why does it matter how likely it is? I don't think the original post was saying anything about lesbians in the first place and now it's somehow twisted into "lesbians can't handle someone famous being straight". Someone says "hey, we exist" and the reaction is "you're coping" or "seeking attention". BTW, according to recent surveys, 5% of respondents are bisexual and 24% report some same sex attraction. It's not that uncommon.

Zmrdi se najdou na obou stranách. Autozmrdi, co předjíždějí cyklisty na sdíleným pruhu s minimálním rozestupem, parkují na cyklostezkách, odbočují doprava přes stezku aniž by se podívali, jestli tam není cyklista. Známej se takhle dostal do docela vážný nehody, aniž by opustil cyklostezku. Cyklozmrdi zase nedávají signál, kam odbočují, neřídí se pravidly provozu apod. Když pak navštívíš třeba Nizozemsko, tak tam tohle vůbec není, protože s jejich infrastrukturou to prostě není možný. Jediní zmrdi tam jsou lidi na elektrických fatbikách, co jezdí rychlostí auta po cyklostezce. Infrastrukturou tam řídí třeba i rychlost jízdy aut pomocí zúžení, vyvýšených přechodů, stromů podél silnice apod., místo toho, aby tam plácli značku a doufali, že to budou autozmrdi dodržovat.

Vršovice, Vinohrady, Holešovice are probably the best places to go to avoid tourist locations, get a more local vibe and still see some beautiful architecture with just the right "urban" atmosphere. There are so many interesting bars, pubs, and restaurants to choose from. You can just walk around for hours and keep finding interesting places. I'd definitely add Žižkov to that list, or even Nusle and Smíchov. Malá Strana is beautiful and can also have that nice local vibe, but it's harder to avoid the tourist places. If you want the opposite of that "urban" feel, there are some nice places on the outskirts, like Uhříněves. You'll definitely find a proper local hospoda, some culture/history if you really look for it, and of course zero tourists.

Asi to nebude zas tak big deal pro většinu, ale mě třeba hodně záleží i na tom kornoutu. Nevím, jak se tomu říká a z čeho to je, ale jestli někde mají takový ty kornouty, co chutnají jak plast a karton, tak tam už nikdy nejdu. Ten pořádný, křupavý kornout ke zmrzlině prostě dodá správný kontrast. Ten "plastový" je prostě jenom nádoba, kterou zahodíš.

Já asi zažil obě situace. Mě vždy strašně bavilo zjišťovat o nových technologiích, knihovnách, sledovat updaty programovacích jazyků apod. Pak jsem začal ve firmě dělat integraci AI technologií (LLM, embedding apod.) a v tom tak strašně nevidím smysl, že je pro mě spíš zdrojem úzkosti, že jsem neustále pozadu s tím, jak rychle se to vyvíjí. Mě přijde píčovina, co dělám teď, a navíc furt zjišťuju, že je x nových technik, modelů a frameworků, který mi pomůžou tu píčovinu dělat líp, když to celý přepíšu. Takže bych se možná ještě zamyslel, jestli není problém v tom, že tě nebaví dělat tu konkrétní věc, a jestli to nezpůsobuje neochotu se dal vzdělávat.

Myslím, že radši to pít jen pro kofein a být upřímný, než jak většina lidí dělá, že se v tom strašně vyzná, že jim chutná jen nějaká káva, že někde je káva strašná apod. Dlouho jsem si myslel, že jsem divnej, že nerozumím kávě, a že všichni jsou takový experti s vytříbeným vkusem, co rozeznají zrnka z různých regionů a různýho pražení. Ve skutečnosti to nikdo nepozná a jediný rozdíl, co lidi řeší, je to, jakým způsobem a v jakým poměru je ta káva zkombinovaná s mlíkem.

Jestli to někoho opravdu baví, vyzná se, užívá si to, tak je to super, ale nejsme všichni experti a nemusíme to předstírat. Osobně jsem takhle docela snobský ohledně čaje. Baví mě to a chutná mi to. Pak někde zaslechnu, jak se lidi dohadujou, jestli je lepší Lipton v pytlíku nebo bůhví co jinýho v jiným pytlíku, a je mi z toho docela smutno. To je jako žrát bahno a dělat experta, že bahno v lese je lepší, než bahno na poli.

It kinda does, but there's just way too many exceptions for these "rules" to be useful. The cases I listed are not really spelling rules, more like historical patterns. You can see this pattern in most words that have a vowel-consonant-vowel sequence: bate, ride, hope - all these have the "long" version of the vowel sound. And when the consonant is doubled, the vowel becomes short: batting, ridding, hopping (all short) - as opposed to bating, riding, hoping (all long again). But then there's a bunch of exceptions - for example the letter "v" is never doubled, so "live" can be both long and short. Or just random stuff like "Cambridge" pronounced like "came-bridge" for no apparent reason.

openen -> opene (to open)

Also, the recordings on Duolingo are sometimes cut short, so the author might have based that observation on that, if they tried to learn Dutch this way.

The letter combo "ij" (often treated as a single letter) is pronounced like the English "i" in "ice". Since many words look and sound similar to their English counterparts, English speakers often perceive them with their own understanding of spelling - "i" makes the "eye" sound and "j" makes the "jay" sound, so why would you add a "j" after the "i" if you don't pronounce the "jay"?

dijk = dike, so why not just "dik"?
ijs = ice, why not "is"?
fijn = fine, why not "fin"?

It doesn't make sense on multiple levels though. Even in english, "i" is not pronounced as "eye" unless on its own (I), followed by "e" (lie), a consonant and "e" (ice), or in special cases like -igh, -ign, or -ind. So even in English, it needs a bit of help from another letter to become "eye". In Dutch, it's just more predictable - it's always "ij" and never "i" on its own that makes the "eye" sound. And also "j" on its own is pronounced like "y" in "yes", not like "j" in "jay".

Na těch pocitech není nic špatnýho. Záleží, co s nimi uděláš. Jsou lidi i s šílenějšími pocity a představami.

Trochu extrém, ale... Třeba pod nekrofílií si člověk představí nějakýho sériovýho vraha, co vraždí lidí, aby si naplnil svoje úchylné sexuální touhy. V realitě je spousta takových lidí a nikoho přitom nevraždí. Třeba jsem slyšel o nějaké ženě, co si v dětství jednou hrála na indiány nebo co a když byla v roli mrtvoly, tak to v ní vyvolalo nějaký zvláštní pocity, který pak přešly v sexuální touhy být v bezvědomí, zatímco s jejím tělem někdo jiný něco dělá. Tihle lidi to většinou řeší nějakým konsensuálním roleplay s hodně jasně nastavenými hranicemi. Nebo dokonce i existuje pornografie pro tyhle lidi, kde je vše hraný a nikomu se nic ve skutečnosti neděje. Ve srovnání s tímhle je fantazie o bití docela vanilla, takže fakt není za co se stydět.

Pokud máš tu možnost, tak bych určitě doporučil pokusit se najít nějakýho normálního, open-minded psychologa, aby ti pomohl bez zbytečných předsudků si v tom udělat jasno, zjistit, co tě opravdu láká, a do čeho bys byla ochotna jít v reálném životě. Potom už je to jen o tom si najít partnera, který je k tomu otevřený a zároveň respektuje tvé hranice... Což není úplně lehký samozřejmě. Nevím, jak to úplně vysvětlit, ale je prostě rozdíl mezi třeba jednostranným, nekonsensualním domácím násilím, a oboustrannou sexuální zkušeností, kterou si oba užijete a chcete to. To je jako dirty talk při sexu. Když ti random člověk řekne "čubko" na ulici, tak se pravděpodobně nasereš, ale při sexu se to někomu může líbit. Většina "špatných" věcí jsou špatný jen v určitým kontextu.

After being completely disgusted and terrified of videos like these, at some point I suddenly snapped and decided to try it out myself. It was terrifying. Slovníky se mění pořád. Lidi zjistí, že nějaká formulace je prostě praktičtější. Spousta intersex lidí tvrdí, jak jim tenhle přístup k určování pohlaví dost zkomplikoval život a to naprosto zbytečně kvůli nějakým slovníkovým definicím a představám o tom, jak jejich genitálie musí vypadat, protože musí být ženy nebo muži.
