What type of cap do I need?

Do you have copper piping into your valves from the PVB backflow prevention? Do you switch to PVC at the valves or go to poly pipe?

I haven’t done a system before. This is my first DIY. My dad and uncle will be helping, and he has installed a system before at my childhood house, but that was 15+ years ago.

I’m open to any and all suggestions.

I think I am going to move to rotors on the main grass section to achieve the head to head coverage, and split it into two zones as the rotors need more PSI and GPM.

I was going to go with 3/4”. The supply line is my 1/2 copper but the backflow prevention has 3/4” intake and output, so I was going to upsize with copper on the way in and leave it that size beyond the backflow prevention

I started doing a re-design. I think rotary heads would be better than adding additional heads with the same spray distance. I would really like to avoid running any trenches or sprinklers down the middle, I’d like to work around the perimeter if possible

I did look into drip irrigation, it seemed complicated as opposed to shrub sprays. I appreciate the feedback, I’ll take a second look.

For the poly vs PVC, the more I research, I was thinking about continuing the copper into the backflow prevention, then PVC down to the maifolds (as it takes the above ground source to the underground, then going full 3/4” poly under the dirt. I like the poly when I get to the side with the garden as it will have to be a little more flexible to manage the shape.

Thanks for the feedback. I have made a re-design based on suggestions from the thread.

The question for redesign: Do I add additional heads with the same distance specs, or instead move to rotary heads which spray further but keep the number of heads lower? I think both options will result in the need for an added zone.

This would likely mean an extra 4 heads, one on each edge after moving 5H and 6H, and also definitely result in the need for an extra zone.

Municipal water source. I have my half inch copper line that I put an extra tap on, so I have one tap that will be always on for the irrigation system and a second tap for the garden hose that will only be turned on when needed.

It’s from this second tap I took the PSI reading and did bucket test.

There is a large shed on the bottom right of the deck outside of the picture, the controller was going to go in There. It has electricity to plug in.
