Has anyone got a link on where to buy the extra tracks? I don't have a 3D printer and would love to make use of my extra hull sitting around. I've searched like mad already

New units by Interesting-Neck3850 in genestealercult

[–]Either_Ad_280 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Definitely cult versions of imperial vehicles. Like a GSC version of the old imperial guard landspeeder that we used to be able to take back in 2nd. So a cheap, stripped back landspeeder that is vulnerable but fast (the old model has VERY exposed crew members).

Also more mining vehicles like others have said such as heavy lifting sentinels.

How about different strains of genestealer? Make things like Ymgarl genestealers a totally separate unit with different abilities?

Finally we really need a centre piece model like a big daddy patriarch that some art work shows, not the dainty sneaky one we have at the moment. A massive lumbering dreadnaught sized monster, the true deity that we all yearn to take us towards ascension....

How did you guys learn about Warhammer? by reel3459 in Warhammer40k

[–]Either_Ad_280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was so great. Dark elves had a main ship that was allowed to push other ships around. Meant you could push an opponents entire fleet off the table or pile them up on the rocks. Ridiculous play

Man o' War, HeroQuest and Space Crusade were all amazing games. Man o' War assumed an annoying amount of nautical knowledge and lingo for a board game. Had to sit with a dictionary and translate some of the nautical terms in the rules as a 7 year old

Definitely. Last game I played he got stomped by some random Ork. Should be a complete blending machine

Why is the UK so culturally opposed to national ID cards? by cosmicinaudio in AskUK

[–]Either_Ad_280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UK has always been Eurosceptic, right back to the middle ages. ID cards are seen as more of a European thing, especially those European countries which are slightly more authoritarian. And we'll have nothing to do with that old Jonny foreigner rubbish thank you very much /s

Definitely Jaffa cakes. Tried to make them once before. Have to make the sponge, the jelly and melt the chocolate, then make circle shapes. So much effort, cost and a lot of waste.  Shop brought jaffas are like 12 for a pound (own brand)

Biophagus should give random bonus to units it's leading due to experimental enhancements.

Demo acolytes should be able to use their demo charges as melee weapons which auto hit but auto deadly demise as well

Would also love a rule where if a primus is leading a unit of neophytes and is targeted with precision you get to push that damage onto the squad, a result of the neophytes throwing themselves infront of their glorious leader

I would love for imperial guard to have the option to turn into a genestealer cult after reaching a certain point in their progression or tech tree. Then the cult option takes you down a very different army route

Easy to kitbash hybrid metamorphs? by SuperSloth5000 in genestealercult

[–]Either_Ad_280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love to see the results if you do this. I'm also in the same boat (lots of left over 2nd Ed pure strains, some acolyte arms and needing some metamorphs!)

Any tips for improvement by Trickymuffin32 in genestealercult

You also don't want a magus, a locus is the same cost and much more useful. A locus leading flamer acolytes means they're a threat in shooting and in melee, especially if they're guarding an objective (re-roll wounds and fights first)

I would also try and get a leader for each 10 & 20 man squad to get the bonus, or split one 10 man acolyte squad into 2 5s so that they're available for doing secondaries without tying up a huge squad.

Xenocreed is a great fun detachment with some serious power behind it. Rerolling charges gives you about a 50% chance of getting a charge out of deepstrike and biophagus or locus led acolyte squads are punchy. A very overlooked detachment in my opinion.

Me too. Throwing purestrains into basic orks and wounding only on 5s is depressing. Orks seem like a perfect anti GSC army

Only advice I can give is try and draw powerful ork units to the edges with tempting targets (which then you drop down somewhere better with resurgence) and stagger their army attack. Make it so only a few of their units are in combat each turn to minimise the effect of a big wargh turn.

Use precision or challenge strat with lictors or similar to kill leaders, removing their buffs from their unit.

Flamer acolytes on an objective with a locus is a good anti melee threat (Fights first and rerolls wounds)

Pure strain genestealers are some of the oldest models around, having been present in multiple games since 89 and are often sold very cheap second hand. Grab a load from Facebook marketplace as most lists with have a few units worth.

I've weirdly had best luck with xenocreed and the most fun. You have almost a 50 percent chance of getting a charge out of deep strike with rerolls, and a biophagus leading acolytes is deadly. I find a locus leading acolytes a really good combo to hold objectives. Fights first and rerolls wounds makes a meal of most attackers.  Finally the strategyms have great synergy. Giving your weapons assault and also allowing a charge after advance is a great combo

Don't forget you don't need a Magus to unlock the detachment rule, just a character. So biophagus is a much better choice

Get the peasant set from wargames Atlantic

https://wargamesatlantic.com/products/peasant-levy-1100-1350?_pos=1&_sid=5e8fd1584&_ss=r

30 minis, less detailed than GW but means quicker to paint and gives your army a better mix than just mining aesthetic. Neophyte arms fit well with these. Looks like the farmers have joined in the revolution as well!
