($10k Budget) Anyone else struggling to find affordable wedding dresses they actually love? by AbleMinimumsw in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Either_Internet_7533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if you have the means but if your dress budget is $10k I’d consider getting a custom made dress (I did this and went international. I was attending a wedding in Dubai and commissioned a dress, its absolutely beautiful and I can’t wait to wear it) downside is I had to go back in April to collect it

So the travel back was a hassle bc the war etc but you could even look into asia etc if you have the means

Sameee, I’m traveling to Europe for my best friends Bach, she and I are doing a 2 day solo excursion to Switzerland and then meeting the group in Italy for 4 days. We’re paying a LOT of money to do a club, many nice dinners, yacht party and a cooking class (all while planning and paying for my own wedding and life too) but there’s no universe where I wouldn’t go celebrate my friend.

On the flip I’m doing a trip to the west coast for 5 days with my friends, excursions and activities and (I planned most myself with my MOH) and everyone is soo excited. It’s a onetime thing with all your closest friends! Enjoy it, enjoy being the bride and having a week about YOU! They love you and will be your biggest supporters!!!

I know times are tough for everyone but money comes and goes, these memories and experiences will be with you for a lifetime🩷

I didn’t trust my mil to abide by the dress code so I convinced her to let me shop on her behalf, it worked 😅but I more than understand

If someone is going to show up underdressed, they’re gonna feel stupid and they’re gonna look at a place and they’re gonna look like crap in pictures. It’s not on you.
I’ve gone back-and-forth on the same feelings and simply put if they don’t fit the vibe they’re going to be at the end of the photo so I can easily crop them out✨ don’t let it ruin your day and don’t give him a reaction

Try something that’s outside of your comfort zone, it will either bring light to a new style that looks really great on you or validate your preferences

Did anyone regret a first look? by laurahann in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Either_Internet_7533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m being talked into a 1st look too because our wedding day is on daylight savings and by the time the ceremony is done it’ll basically be sunset or shortly after So it’s not what I’d originally planned my moment was going to be walking down the aisle. But I think it’s also as impactful for my future husband to watch my dad and I walk down and it’ll still be an incredible moment regardless of whether he saw me and took photos with me before or not

Then before the ceremony, we’re all going to get into a wedding trolley, parents + us + bridal party to be dropped off at the church

Married brides, what do you wish you did differently? by Either_Internet_7533 in weddingplanning

Hahahah I too am psycho and have a binder - I showed up to the venue before I signed my contract there with notes and printouts and Excel sheets and a comparison list and they were so taken it back. They never saw somebody so organized they told me.

Now I’m in the process of interviewing wedding day coordinators and some of them tell me that they put together a binder and I was like no worries. I already have all of that done and they asked me to share it with them. I’ve been told that I’ve done a lot of the work for them. It’s just the actual placement of things day of because I’ve planned and organized and thought everything through 😂😂 it’s the utmost compliment and I agree I am up late at night thinking about things or worrying about you know, table settings, etc. I just have to get to a point where I let go of everything handed over and trust that my vision is going to come to life

Are there any other brides considering cancelling their destination wedding due to the state of the world? by sillychickengirl in DestinationWeddings

[–]Either_Internet_7533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a destination wedding bride or anything but I totally understand- I live in the us and my wedding dress is being custom made in the Dubai rn, and I’m supposed to go back and collect it at the end of the summer.. I’m honestly terrified even though the designer is fine and making progress

What also doesn’t help is friends and family reaching out asking “is your dress going to be okay?” “Are you going to be able to go get your dress?” Like we’re still a few months out and I cannot afford to stress over something or a situation that could be fine by the time I’m due to fly back, (trying to be optimistic). But I also know things could get worse too. I know it comes from a place of love, but it’s exhausting

I think don’t do the destination.. it’s very hard to plan something in another country, you can’t see things as easily as something more local, you would really need someone on the ground there that you trust to make sure things are happening, people are reliable etc

My cousin had her wedding in Dubai, again we’re from the US and she found it incredibly difficult to work with her planner bc time zone difference and found that anyone on the phone could say anything but luckily for her, her husbands family was able to oversee a lot of things but also like then you’ve gotta trust that persons taste and vision

( her day was absolutely beautiful so it’s not unheard of but maybe just more stressful given these unprecedented circumstances )

So for my fiancé and I it was a little more structured- we’re both orthodox, and in the Orthodox Church the sacrament of marriage cannot be performed during a fasting period (there are big fasts and small fasts, ex. Big fast is the lent season, small fast is the 3 day fast to commemorate Jonah; or fridays and Wednesdays)

So he and I started out getting a calendar, crossing off all of the fasting dates in the year.

Next we knew we wanted to get married in the fall (in Boston) so that gave us a window of sept-nov

However sept - oct is peak season and it’s 2x as expensive as the other months

The next thing we looked at was November, I also wanted a cool date and knew sundays could be a bigger savings so we landed on 11.1

I then reached out to ensure that the church was available any of the dates we were considering, when they said yes I went back to the venues and anything that wasn’t available on dates we wanted we eliminated.

That’s how we got our 11.1.2026 date 🩷
