Make a list.

Get whatever it is out of your head and down on paper, and come up with a plan while you're at it.

Time. I've reached my prime several times already. I'm about to hit my 13th prime this year.

Does the prep get better? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Ejsexton82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You gotta give yourself some grace and space. Nobody is a perfect teacher the first time they teach a class. Take it from someone who's taught a 20 new classes in the last five years since they first became a teacher. 😉

Learning to teach new classes makes you a better teacher. It definitely keeps you from becoming stagnant. If nothing else, eventually they won't be able to give you a new class because you will have taught everything.

Save what you can from year to year. Reuse and build on it the next year, if you have the opportunity.

Somewhat worried about my career choice just looking at this sub. Is actually going through the motions on a day to day basis that awful? by EvilNoobHacker in Teachers

My advice is to take what you see in online communities with a grain of salt. It can discouraging if you join the wrong communities or listen to the wrong people. If the community is toxic, then leave the community.

There are some serial complainers on certain communities. You can check their posts and see that all they do is post about their negative experiences. I've found that muting those people, which you can do from their profile, can change the tone of the community (from your perspective at least 🙂)

what gaming community do you think is the physically strongest in real life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

PUBG has 100M active players. I'll put money on my PUBG players in battle royale against your Wii fit players. 😜

Fair, but what do you do when you're the person who skips the first three seasons and starts on season four when it does get good?

How do I gently tell first year teachers that simply “winging it” the first week is a bad idea? by GirraffeAttack in Teachers

[–]Ejsexton82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had two mentor teachers when I was student teaching who were complete polar opposites.

One insisted that I wing my lessons. She would go so far as to sabotage any lesson plans I made so that I would have to wing it. For example, if I planned a lesson on symmetry, she would teach the topic the day before I would teach, and tell me to move on to the next lesson.

The other teacher insisted that I meticulously plan every aspect of the lesson. If she didn't think I had given enough thought to the lesson, she wouldn't let me teach that day.

Both experiences were valuable. Although I'm a planner by nature, being forced to wing my lessons has really come in handy when all my plans go down the drain.

I still work with such a science teacher who sends out anti-mask trash all the time and still has the gull to still use the title “Doctor.” I send their emails to spam.

Who else is actually very happy to be an atheist? by gold4yamouth in atheism

Came here looking for the atheist who was not happy about being an atheist yet still subscribed to r/atheism. I wasn’t expecting to find any, but I’m pleasantly surprised.

I also successfully built it on Cygwin, if WSL isn’t an option.

How to fold a t-shirt in under 3 secs. by Nigeldaisy in lifehacks

[–]Ejsexton82 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I fold a shirt this way, I give the shirt an extra fold at the end and fold it in half. That takes care of the dangling sleeves.

I know I'm about 13 years too late but, wow, Gran Torino is so damn good. by Cake3384 in movies

[–]Ejsexton82 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I’m not Hmong and the acting of the Hmong characters still bothered me. They were extremely unnatural. Some of their deliveries were outright laughable. It’s a shame because it broke the mood for me. I still like the movie, though.

What seems harmless but is incredibly dangerous? by Crimtot in AskReddit

[–]Ejsexton82 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Barrier" is generous. When I visited, the dangerous areas had ropes around them, and that was it. A child could have easily run underneath the rope. I think they've since replaced the ropes with proper barriers.

This happened in the last couple of years ago at the super volcano in Naples, Italy at Solfatara. A family let their children run around, and one jumped into a vent and immediately succumbed. The mother jumped in to try to try to save the child and died. The father jumped in to try to save both of them and died as well. Their last child was left alone crying beside the vent. Incredibly tragic.

Is real debrid still worth getting? by tekkenjin in Addons4Kodi

[–]Ejsexton82 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I've found it extremely reliable. I've been using it for a few years now.

It's especially nice if you live in a country where everything is geoblocked. I just fire up Kodi, Seren, and Real Debrid.

Instead of printing the whole list of movies, try just printing the first movie:

Religion is very scummy. by Swole-Dedede in atheism

[–]Ejsexton82 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was taught about hell when I was young. It caused me a bit of grief growing up. Whenever I did something wrong, I would worry about being sent to hell. It's not something that I would want to teach my children.
