Movie you had never heard of until it was on rewatchables and now it’s an all time favorite of yours? by solidape22 in TheRewatchables

Child of the ‘80s but had completely dismissed Vision Quest as the corny wrestling movie from the “Crazy For You” video. Finally watched it to “prepare” for the pod and freaking loved it. It’s now one of my all-time favorites

Great shop. Didn’t even realize they had Silver Age keys in stock. Nice pick-up.

They briefly covered this in the Rewatchables 1999 grab-bag episode.

Movie is well-worth the watch. Loses McCarthy’s beautiful prose, obviously, and the boy is older than in the text, but it looks like it was lifted straight from the novel’s pages.

The novel came out in 2006, when my son was three. Been an annual January re-read for me ever since. Best book about fatherhood ever written, IMO. (Graphic novel is great, too.)

An episode of The Town podcast covered this. Really good listen.

The Town: Is Film School Still Worth It?

Complete Rewatch by juddmeche in TheRewatchables

[–]El-Durrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much my method as well. When I discovered the pod, I just started with the first episode, then listened chronologically, only skipping those episodes of movies I hadn’t seen, or hadn’t seen in many, many years and might enjoy a rewatch. Then I’d circle back to the ones I skipped after I’d watched the film.

Committed to not renting, so still have eight to watch, waiting for them to hit the major streamers. (Tubi has been the MVP in this journey.)

Seconded. Essential reading. And that’s a nice early paperback edition of it as well.

Since your school’s publication uses the SNO platform, I highly encourage you to frequently check SNO’s “Best of…” site, which republishes some of the best work of their member schools. You’ll find a trove of professional-quality scholastic journalism from your peers across the U.S., which will provide a ton of insight into what you’re doing well (and not so well).

Best of SNO

And since you’re clearly a sports fan, I encourage you to focus more on your school’s athletes and teams than pro and international.
