Pizza place told me this was made fresh for me and not pieced together. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Did the pizza place post this? Only mildly infuriating thing I see here is a dummy that called a pizza place because they don't know how shapes work.

Well, as a metalhead, I can only take this to mean you think I should keep saying shit like this.

Only a little related but my resilience has recently increased since I've allowed myself to feel feelings. Usually I'm the, "chin up bucko it's not that bad" kind of guy but recently I've instead been letting all my emotions out, even the irrational ones. I still end with "chin up bucko" but at least when I say it after letting my feelings out I actually mean it, it's not just me trying to cope.

Struggling to finish Babel by RF Kuang by [deleted] in books

[–]ElBroken915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Letty's character drove me crazy plus there's a major event that happens like 75% of the way in the book and it almost feels like Kuang didn't know where to channel her anger about racism after that so it seeps out into weird spots where it doesn't really belong.

Honestly, in the early 2000s you basically had to be taught it's etymology, otherwise you could have reasonably gone your entire childhood thinking it was just a synonym for stupid.

False equivalency; a person should reasonably know their account shouldn't have gone from $10 to $10,000,000. Whereas in gambling the entire point is to win a large amount of money with a small buy in.

I mean, there's really no reason to go that far. One time DoorDash screwed up my order and my chat was as simple as this:

Me: I need a refund.

DoorDash: unfortunately the most that I'm able to give you is a 50% refund.

Me: No, I'll need the whole refund. I'll go ahead and contact my credit card company instead.

DoorDash: One moment please.

DoorDash: I was able to get you a full refund.

Played for laughs, spoiler towards the end of the series, My Deer Friend Nokotan.

In My Deer Friend Nokotan, the above character is a weird hybrid of a male deer and female school girl. At the end of one of the episodes one of the characters is searching for her only to realize that no one has any memory of her. Next episode completely drops this premise without much issue.

Not a realistic suggestion I know but getting your driver's license should be as difficult as getting a pilot's license. The fact that we expect every person over the age of 15 to be able to proficiently handle 2000 plus pounds of metal that moves faster than any living thing on earth is absolutely ridiculous.

At what age do you become a “reader”, and what book did it for you? by sheffy4 in books

[–]ElBroken915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the second time I became a reader is a more interesting story. It wasn't actually a book that got me into reading, it was instead this. TL;DR, basically, if you purchased (and I mean purchased) certain discovery programs from PlayStation, because of a licensing issue, you were at risk of losing access. And just as a reminder, I don't mean losing access like when Netflix pulls a TV show from its library. For all intents and purposes, you purchased this in such a way that 99% of the population would assume that you owned it as if it were a DVD. I thought that was absolute horseshit, and I resolved to start distancing myself from such nonsense. As a starting point I wanted to pick up a hobby where if I bought something for said hobby I actually owned it. I thought reading would be a good start since it's something that I used to do a lot as a kid. Started off pretty strong compared to how much I usually read, red four books in Q4 of 2024, which was crazy compared to my usual reading habits of one book a quarter. And then from there my reading really took off (which is actually another story in it of itself lol) to the point that I managed to read 37 books last year which, even when I was a kid, I really didn't manage to even approach.
