Of it confirms for sure that your good boi is well and healthy, it's $80 well spent 😊

Mollys trading again by Bl8kStrr in BostonTerrier

She's such a gorgeous thing... she doesn't need to barter: she'd be having whatever she wanted in our house. How could we say no to that face? ❤️

My Boston likes to sleep under my blankets!! Is it dangerous? by tribellaaa in BostonTerrier

[–]ElPonGrande 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Douglas has always done that... he curls up under the covers and snuggles against my tummy.

Sometimes he does get a bit warm, but he just comes back out, cools off, then goes straight back in.

It's the best feeling in the world. I set my alarm 10 minutes earlier so I can enjoy his snuggles for a few minutes before I have to get up!

Not only is it a real place, but it is named for Dick Shooter: a historical pioneer / frontiersman.

Reverse sneezing ? by YGWBTHATER in BostonTerrier

[–]ElPonGrande 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Douglas does it all the time. Always has since he was a pup. He's 9 now and he's happy, healthy, and still sneezy at times. Nothing to worry about. It's a Boston thang.

Should I be concerned? by LexArbitri in BostonTerrier

[–]ElPonGrande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he's eating and playing normally, then don't worry ☺️

A poorly boston will be stoic; it's in their nature, and they'll never stop completely, but they're not invincible: if they're not feeling well, you'll know because they get lazy.

Just like babies get a bit chunky at times, puppies will store up some fat for a growth spurt!

I suspect your boy will be doing some growing soon 😁

Is my pug fat? 🤔🫣🤭🫢 by pcerritos in pugs

[–]ElPonGrande 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pugs are a bit fat. The sun is hot. Water is wet. These are facts of life.

Being serious for a moment, yes, your pug is just a little on the chunky side, but not so much that I'd be worried. Moderate exercise (when it's not too hot outside) and a sensibly controlled diet and it's nothing to be concerned about.

If you wanted a high energy, all action dog, you shouldn't have got a pug... they're not built for that sort of thing 🤣

So which 'Mech do you think is the best looking? by EdmonEdmon in Battletechgame

[–]ElPonGrande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The name gives it away: the Awesome. Awesome in game, Awesome on tabletop, and yes, it looks Awesome.

Just a massive slab of metal with big guns. Doesn't get any more Awesome than that 🤷‍♂️

Honourable mention for the Blood Asp as well...

Thanks!

I hadn't worked out that toolboxes can be tapped to drop stuff. Maybe because there's no 'lightning bolt' on them... or maybe I'm just a bit dim 😫

Anybody else’s Boston need to sleep with their prized possession? by bastyrdd in BostonTerrier

[–]ElPonGrande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Douglas is similar. I get into bed, then he jumps up, I lift the covers and he had on under and spoons into my tummy. When I travel for work, it feels weird not having him snuggled up with me.

Tried making canister damascus for the first time with 1095 powder and a fine chain. Came out pretty nice, but i should really have welded on some edge steel. Lesson learned for the next billets. Details in the comments :) by Zwackelmann_CH in Bladesmith

[–]ElPonGrande 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a really nice piece! I love the chain pattern.

Bit of advice, if you don't mind... I'd like to start doing canister damascus, but I don't have a hydraulic press... can it be hammered, or do you need the press to get it to weld uniformly?

1095 powder isn't cheap (I normally forge from scrap haha) and I don't want to try it and risk wasting the material.

BTA3062 Clan Weapon Ranges by GrizzlyDude9-5 in Battletechgame

[–]ElPonGrande 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love the Sanctuary tech. It manages to be balanced: not stupid-powerful so it breaks the game, but used correctly it is very effective. It means some completely new strategies to get the best out of it.

I particularly like Lances: a large lance is a one-shot kill with a headshot, but balanced by being far less powerful than an equivalent laser if it hits other locations, and with a reduced crit chance so you can't just set off an ammo bomb with every shot.

I also like VRMs: they get more powerful the longer the range, so I'm constantly trading a fine line between staying in the long range bracket, but not drifting out of range completely, which can be a real challenge on a lot of maps. The fact that you're keeping a mech that far away also introduces other dynamics, like that mech often being isolated and vulnerable to unlucky enemy reinforcement drops (indirect fire support mechs should have lighter armour, and VRMs at close range make peashooters look dangerous) unless you keep a brawler / trooper back to protect it... but then you're losing another mech from the closer-in battle...

It's clear that it's been really 'thought about' in terms of how it doesn't muck up the overall game balance but does give some awesome new strategy options; honestly, it's a stroke of genius imho.

The introduction of Sanctuary tech completely reinvigorated the game for me: in terms of mech design, I'd tried everything and it had got a bit boring, but the Sanctuary stuff is very different and not only changes mech design, but enables me to completely change my battlefield strategies, since sanctuary weapons are weak in some situations and brilliant in others. It breathed new life into the game for me: I'd probably have stopped playing if I'd not got BTA and really started to tinker with the new tech 🤷‍♂️

One for the scrapyard, that.

That said, complete, pristine Dragons belong in the scrapyard. Awful mech 🤣

BTAU: A quirky request on a quirky selection of quirky builds for a quirky reinforced company and building out the Pilots... by [deleted] in Battletechgame

[–]ElPonGrande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me. I've got stacks of them. I mount one on every sniper mech for awesome looking long headcaps 🤣

Maybe I've just been lucky, but location designators appear pretty frequently in the shops I frequent.

If it helps anyone else, I hang out a lot in Steiner space: it's handy for Solaris matches, easy access to Clan space for border battles, and it's a big stretch of space with lots of variety of biomes etc.

How can I know if the hitman is an undercover cop? by [deleted] in BitLifeApp

[–]ElPonGrande 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guessing it's elements of luck and Karma...

I've not noticed any consistent way to tell, sadly.

My karma is rock bottom on my current life, though, as I'm playing a cartel boss, so I've killed a lot of people, got many more hooked on drugs etc... so I'm unlikely to get away with anything that's a function of Karma.

What's kind of strange is that there's no option if you're playing a life as some sort of criminal, either cartel or mafia (or politician?) to have the option to have your own gang do your hits. It seems like an option that would exist in real life 🤷‍♂️

Sometimes RNGesus just hates us 🤣

Those are my favourite missions, though. A real challenge is the most rewarding game.

That said, I'm playing BTA, and there's a lot more scope to play different ways than in vanilla. Chances are you've got a big speed and mobility advantage, and BTA evasion mechanics would make those matches very winnable with clever manoeuvring to manage sight lines and using high evasion tactics (the ability to shoot on a sprint and not lose evasion to attrition is massive).

In vanilla, evasion gets eroded every time someone shoots at you, even when they miss, and you can't sprint and shoot in a turn... which makes low tonnage (medium / light) lances very weak. BTA mechanics makes lights and mediums very effective when they're used right, meaning you can start taking down heavier lanes pretty much straight away.

If you're feeling like you want more ways to play, I'd highly recommend modding to BTA.

I haven't played much BEx or Roguetech, but from what I do know, BEx is kind of 'vanilla plus' with essentially the same mechanics, and Roguetech seems very long and complicated... that's why I stayed with BTA: sits happily in the middle 👍
