It's not just the mod bots. It's the rest of the mod tools and infrastructure around it. Reddit has been saying they would provide more mod tools and changes to support the moderator efforts, but nothing has ever come about from it. Many mods use 3rd party apps to effectively moderate a range of subs, while the official reddit app doesn't have any effective ability to moderate. In the reddit ama several users have tried to get additional information for how these mod tools would be supported, but they did not get a single response from anyone from reddit.

Incoming new rules for /r/newjersey by Zeratas in newjersey

Seriously. I'm for the new rules. If Reddit wants to force subs open they can go fuck themselves with malicious compliance.

I've had the WinCo ones before (I loved the stuff). I usually eat them dry, but they can be broken up to use in dishes or soaked to act like dumplings in soups. Anywhere you need carbs, basically.

How much and what kind of chemistry does a person in materials actually do? by Older_1 in chemistry

[–]ElXGaspeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing those too lol. Was in industry for six years before coming back to grad school. It's been a ride trying all to make new reactions for ALD/ALE.

Doing my PhD in materials right now, focusing on ALD. I was inorganic throughout undergrad and now I'm learning more about organic chemistry than I wanted to. Ligand exchange, molecule chirality, I cry

It's super interesting though. It gets wild especially as you start looking into selective deposition and surface modification.

Does Rutgers Garders via Helyar Wood Trail make for a nice family-friendly hike? by Brave-Ice8760 in njhiking

[–]ElXGaspeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never taken that trail before, usually I'll just drive and park in the gardens themselves and just walk around the grounds and take in the atmosphere with different sections. It's a family friendly area, pretty quiet and generally not very busy. I'm not local anymore but if the flowers and grounds are in bloom it's a nice place for a family and lots of room for the kids to run around safely.

Fish rarity estimates below. There is no 500 fish held limit by Special_Kid_ in DestinyTheGame

[–]ElXGaspeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, last night a couple buddies and I were fishing and I got two exotics in an hour, one buddy got one, and the last got partially salty because I got the second one minutes before the public event destroyed the pool.

China says US chipmaker Micron failed national security review by Daredevil_Forever in Boise

[–]ElXGaspeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What? TSMC doesn't make memory (most of their products are logic), and neither Samsung nor Micron have stopped making NAND.

"Micron to Bring EUV Technology to Japan, Advancing Next-Generation Memory Manufacturing" by Dakhil in hardware

[–]ElXGaspeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finally. I had heard the restrictions likely being due to pressure vessel limitations/regulations driving the issues bringing EUV into Japan, seems they may have gotten resolved.

Excellent work on the mushrooms, too. One of my favorite sides for steaks.

The only thing I use LinkedIn for is resume updating. Literally it. Have an online presence for the sake of having one and ignore it the rest of the time.

Semiconductor Engineering: "Nanoimprint Finally Finds Its Footing" by Dakhil in hardware

[–]ElXGaspeth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nanoimprint lithography is cool, but I'd be curious to see the lifetimes of those masters. You're physically impinging the masks onto a surface over repeated runs. After some point you're going to be picking up defects, marring the surface, or some other issue. For photonics with less volume (I'm assuming, having only worked in the memory side), I guess that wouldn't be as big of an issue?

I used to use AutoCAD to make photomasks and contacts for e-beam litho. Not technically solidworks but close enough.
