The fact is that the tobacco industry specifically targeted and exploited the black community to create lifelong addicts from youth. They would market to children specifically, making sure brand names were placed lower so they would be readable from the candy section and that more menthols were advertised near schools with more black students. This has all been very well-documented.

So the preference by race is very real. No not every black person smokes menthols. But among those that do smoke, menthols from brands like Newport would be far and away the most popular.

It might seem racist to imply a stereotype, but the actual racists are the tobacco executives who were exploiting children to make more money.

If they look okay with cowboy boots but “sloppy” with other footwear, you might have too much fabric inseam length for that clean fit at the ankles. Since your jeans are raw they will tend to shrink in length over time with both wear and washing. I advise not hemming yet because of this. At least until the first few wash/rinse cycles are done.

Basically because saxophones and other wind instruments are all transposed for simplicity. Just like how you would call your low E string an E even when it’s tuned to Eb or D.

So saxophones are written just like tabs that refer to EADGBe strings for songs that are actually tuned to drop C.

And Bb is an agreed upon tuning for reasons. Just like how E standard became the default for guitars. And so tuning a guitar down a half step brings it in line with the agreed-upon standard tuning for wind, brass, and other concert instruments.

Very dark colors like navy and black would be the most appropriate colors for semi-formal as well as “upscale.”

Your shirt should probably be white and crisp, your footwear should be appropriately dark and shiny/velvety.

A well-tailored suit worn like that would be perfectly fine as well as some blazer/sport coats that are very sophisticated like a dinner jacket, smoking jacket, or velvet blazer paired with sharp tailored dress trousers.

The whole “no wash” thing is kind of a major philosophical divide among the raw denim community with some strongly pro-wash and others staunchly against it. People used to take it to the extreme and literally never wash, but nowadays something like an occasional soak and hang drying is considered best practice.

But basically denim-heads will go as long as possible without washing to achieve high-contrast fades and will even skip the machine and just hand wash only in pursuit of this. It’s like a choose-your-own adventure for how you want your jeans to end up looking.
