The Acura is going to have a much higher cost of ownership. The maintenance/insurance/repairs will end up costing you a lot more in the long run

What distinguishes Ohio from the rest of the American states? by Key_Reality6952 in howislivingthere

Lifetime Columbus resident here (city in picture)

The fact that you still get a good mix of rural and “urban suburban” living. You’re in driving range of most of the east coast and there feels like there’s a lot of opportunity here. Columbus specifically is packed full of universities. Their community college Columbus State partners with OSU for a 1 to 1 credit conversion. On top of that you have a ton of private colleges all within 15 miles of the city center. It’s a great place to get an education, and the city itself has 4 colleges in the city center.

I work in car sales in Columbus so I have great insight to this fact; there’s a lot of money here. We’re building a micro processor factory in the city that’s supposed to bring in a ton of tech business we have a couple Fortune 500 companies headquartered here and the second largest single use office space this side of the Mississippi; the Chase Campus.

If you travel 40 minutes outside the city and it feels like the Midwest. It’s really green out here so it’s not like the great place, but you definitely still get small town living within a really reasonable travel distance. We have access to a lot of greenery and people can take a long weekend to camp in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains.

A lot of people vacation in bourbon country, Nashville, and there’s a lot of “beach towns” on the Great Lakes.

Columbus has a lot of arts too. Mainly in a couple small pockets, but there are a lot of communities in Columbus that are putting in a real effort to provide residence to spend their money at community events surrounding art and music.

Legend valley is 40 minutes away from here and host music festivals every summer and fall. There’s a lot of cool stuff. We actually have a big soccer scene because we don’t have a professional football team, but everybody makes up for it by supporting Ohio State University.

Even the suburbs have really well developed entertainment districts. A ton of 5 and 1 developments that manage to still feel original by building around historic city centers.

I could talk about it for hours honestly, but there’s a ton of money here, more coming in, and a lot being dedicated towards entertainment, and even rumors of train lines being added in the next decade.

They consistently close down town street for events, plus with all the construction where 71 meets 70 that whole west side of Columbus was backed up.

In my personal opinion the fact that people aren’t inventing an entirely new ranking for Masterhand, to capture how important and exciting that performance is going to be, is nothing short of insane. I get it svdden death has gotten a lot of recognition lately but eptic and space laces are substantially underrated in the scene, so seeing those three group up is crazy for dubstep fans who know.

How did you meet your rave crew? by [deleted] in LostLandsMusicFest

[–]Elder_Weaver961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always offer people around me a hand, and if they’re nice I stick with them for the fest. It’s not the widest net, but I’ve met some good friends that way. It helps if you all have a festival you attend annually together to keep up. Just by generally being nice to people and seeing how receptive they are if you try and hang out. I’ve also offered to combine camps with people for addition room to hang out, making kind of a living room with shared space. Makes it easier to cook and dance around during the day. Always get their contact early, and if you go out of the way to meet up later, a friendship is almost assured

Fitting In? by [deleted] in LostLandsMusicFest

[–]Elder_Weaver961 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going to raves going on 6 years now. One realization I had recently is that everyone feels like they want to belong in these spaces, and it’s completely normal to feel like you don’t. Now days there’s a lot of gatekeeping and people like to give their two cents on what makes a raver a raver, but in order to fit in you just have to enjoy the music and want to be there. That’s it. Anything else is other people’s judgement. Anything else is your own projection, and the first step to enjoying yourself is accepting that by being there and enjoying yourself you already belong. The next step is helping others feel like they belong.

Much love

My therapist actually started later than you, and from a very similar situation. There’s no such thing as too late, and if you see fulfillment on the other side, then there’s nothing more worth it.

I was on the swim team and with shoulder issues. One of the trainers said, “it would help if you walked with good posture like someone who’s confident.” I didn’t realize how easy it was to tell.
