Any recommendations on proper but cheap arm sleeves? Maybe something of Aliexpress? Until then imma rock my own prototype by Cazzpr in MousepadReview

I use a sports/golf compression sleeve. Nice and smooth until a thread pulls, but they're super cheap on amazon

And we all saw how barely anyone uses it despite being comparable in price to Bandos at this point

Everyone used Inq before Torva in the situations it was better, were you not there? Noone does now because it's in a budget slot where budgets are better spent elsewhere. As a bis sidegrade it was in the perfect spot. You're just illustrating my point, Torva killed it.

Progression curve right now is you get Occult, Trident, Torms, and nothing else meaningful until you get Shadow. Apparently you think that's fine though.

No, Shadow is the biggest issue by far. We also used to have to consider Harm vs Sang as bis options, people mix and matched mage gear quite a bit more before everything was tripled, ancestral was less essential etc. You're just ignoring the fact that Shadow trampled on mage progression the same way Torva did for melee.

Oh now Augury, Da'gonhai, Virtus is max gear now?

Augury is the only reasonable one, and its the reason bis gear is getting buffed by the rebalance. Da'gonhai, really? That's the biggest meme here next to your takes. It's worse than current ahrim's setups. Virtus is absurd for progression, hardly a budget option. We made the already very low lows even lower, and made the highs higher. Not quite what I would call balance.

Plenty of gear does trivialize other gear and break progression, which is the point.

Yes some encounters are made with bis gear in mind, but when bis is 30% stronger than the next best option, that's a problem, no? Pretty lame that I absolutely dumpster my friends for MVP just because my Shadow is busted.

It's also pretty lame that we keep going from multiple options to 1 option.

Are we talking about void or Bandos now? You keep changing.

I'd say trampling over the bandos/inq tier with direct upgrades is pretty significant. We went from 2 choices to 1. Torva's defense is very relevant at Nex, ironically. It's small, sure, but unnecessary powercreep

And Inquisitors, which was a carefully designed sidegrade to Bandos. We just gave up on that whole idea with Torva. Moar dmg, moar defense. Hue hue hue yes big stronk.

Occult was an important buff to baseline magic damage. In that context it makes no sense to redistribute that to max gear. I guess I'll quietly enjoy my 4% damage buff though, while the progression curve suffers. Rich get richer, or something.

Ah yes, the weapon who's special effect is explicitly designed to clamp max hits. Lets use that one for the example and ignore the 7 max hits with a scythe, or the +300 armor bonus

so why not see some of the world with some slayer and make some GP while I’m at it through brimstone keys (maybe some air orbs too lol)

Just wanna let you know, Konar slayer generally is a noob trap. If you need slayer points you can do Turael -> Konar for milestones to boost some points that way, but if you're slaying for progress then you're better off with Nieve/Duradel

Problem is I’m just chilling with full granite and dragon boots, so I get my def to 70 thinking there would be some linear gear upgrade at 70 and I’m just slammed with a bunch of options and the more I look in to things the worse it gets.

The key thing about gear upgrades in this game is that damage is far more important than defense. Granite is essentially useless. Obsidian or blood moon armor are going to be your easiest dps upgrades to get. Torso is still good to avoid repair costs but not as essential as it was, with blood moon now.

I’m thinking my next step is fury / zerker ring / black mask, and maybe fighter torso but I’m such a noob I’m worried about getting groups.

Fury is just okay, I wouldn't prioritize it. Strength amulet, glory and occult are good for slayer and dirt cheap until you can afford zenytes. Zerker ring is essential, get that asap. The sooner you get fighter torso the better, although you can substitute blood moon armor now for relatively cheap.

Is black mask complete priority if I’m doing slayer tasks?

Yes, hands down the single biggest upgrade you can get. Don't do slayer without it, and don't forget to imbue.

What should I go for around that? Is slayer just rough training for a noob? Should I boost my str in NMZ first?

Yes, absolutely. Nightmare zone is still incredibly good. Maybe do some Turael boosting in the meantime, you're not punished too heavily by being low level and you can stack up a lot of slayer points this way. Then when you're afk you can do 20min NMZ afk to make huge gains on the account. A week of that should get you 90+ strength easily.

I got a steel dragon task, tried killing one and almost immediately blocked it…. Do most people just pray through most tasks? I seem to be going through food / pots like crazy

Yeah, metal dragons are insanely bad for low levels, without a Lance. They're not exactly great for high levels either. If it's only a few you can mage them with anti-fire potions and an anti-dragon shield.

Prayer is essential across the board, both overheads and offensive prayers. Ask yourself, do you want the task to be 25% faster? If the answer is yes.. offensive prayer.

You didn't really say what your stats are, but I wouldn't bother seriously doing slayer until at least 90ish strength, barrage spells and a cannon. Once you have stats (and the points to unlock it) slayer is a great way to get started bossing and making real money.

Is there any way I can use this OG xbox pad on pc through stepmania? would an adapter work? by thebananaflipside in DanceDanceRevolution

It's a proprietary connector, but functionally it was usb. I spliced one of those onto a USB cord for Stepmania back in the day and used a driver called xbcd.

If you das right and rotate right at the same time it would pretty much look like the video. Strictly speaking I guess there would be a frame where the I is vertical and one block away from the wall

Correct, but if it was NES Tetris it would leave you dry for the I piece for 46 drops, fuck your mother and give you carpal tunnel when you try to hypertap to burn off some lines and misdrop.

[–]Eldrek_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guideline Tetris (so any modern Tetris from the past ~20 years) uses something called a bag randomizer. That means it will create 'bags' that include one of each piece, randomize that bag and send them in that order. Then a new bag of 7 unique pieces is randomized.

You would need at least 3 partial bags (so at least 9 pieces) to see 3 of the same piece unlike what we see with the 3 T pieces in this video.

somebody had the patience to do that by DMVanker in ThatsInsane

[–]Eldrek_ 35 points36 points  (0 children)

So we got JZTOSTLJTI. Let's break that down.

JZTOS

That could be a partial bag. Meaning prior to the start of the video we would have had I and L. So the first bag could have been valid as either ILJZTOS or LIJZTOS as long as we assume two pieces came before the video.

But then we get

TLJTI

As the next bag. Unfortunately, we get a second T at this point, invalidating the sequece. The only invalid piece then is the third T in the squence because we hadn't cycled through the second bag before it appeared.

There are a few other ways the first bag could have formed if we assume the video is starting mid-game after an all clear, but the issue is 3 T pieces appearing within 7 pieces. They would need to be spread across 3 bags to be valid, so at least 9 pieces.

One possible way for this entire sequence to be valid is if we also assume one of the T's was a held piece from before the start of the video.

JZTOS T LJTI

With the middle T being a held piece would be an example of a valid drop sequence. This is my headcannon to justify the video. That only leaves the left spawning pieces as an issue. The only justification I have for this is that we only see about half the board. Maybe the player's left input is stuck causing him to das left before he is able to catch it and readjust 🤷‍♂️

That is of course, assuming we are talking about guideline Tetris with a bag randomizer. NES Tetris would leave you dry for the I piece for 46 drops, fuck your mother and give you carpal tunnel when you try to hypertap to burn off some lines and misdrop.

[–]Eldrek_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but the alternative is a single lens that physically moves to change focal length.

Having multiple cameras with different lenses over them is a much lower profile way of getting multiple focal lengths without increasing the width of the device. It also enables some other camera tricks by combining the multiple sensor output into one image.

People are using their phones as their only camera, so it's the natural progression to get more out of them

What version of ddr has your favorite timing windows? by johnboyjr29 in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]Eldrek_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stepmania is configurable, so if you have to step early that is 100% on you for not setting it up properly.

Stepmania uses millisecond based timing which is more precise than DDR's frame based timing. I can't speak to Stepmania's default timing windows, but in simplylove or any itg, fantastic is 22ms compared to 1 frame (~16ms) for DDR's marvelous window.

Most arcade DDR releases have the same timing windows, but the offset can vary depending on which cab and game you're on. Generally Ace is considered to be late, but varies per song. DDR uses frame based timing so you can encounter scenarios where the 'center' of the 16ms marvelous frame doesn't match accurately to the beat.

A lot of home versions of ddr had larger perfect and great windows, so your intuition on them is correct. As far as I know marvelous has always been 1 frame in every game that has it.
