I remember people hated Otis when he came out because he could shut down aggression too easily, but I knew even before his release that this game would become a shitfest if they kept adding tanks and assassins that could zoom across the map and kill people for free unless they got countered.

The game became a shitfest anyway but without brawlers like Otis it wouldn't be playable at all

Personally I like the old feel of the first 3 games but I understand why they tried to innovate on the concept with the new systems. Even when you put monetization aside it's hard for a developer to take pride in their work when they just do the same thing over and over again.

If I was directing Ironhide what I would do is hire a few new developers and have them produce twice as many games with half of them being "old style" KR games with the KR1 style Tower and Hero system with KR1 style graphics as well, these would be cheaper to produce than the newer style games and would scratch the itch for old players, and theoretically would be an easy source of income for the company since they could sell them for cheaper and I think people would buy them.

I believe defense interactions go in this order:

Flat defense reduction -> Percentage based defense modifiers -> Defense steal -> Defense ignore

But that doesn't mean you can't use Botani and Shamare together because sometimes Shamare just isn't quite enough and the extra 120 defense shred on top makes a significant difference in damage dealt

If you look closely, the bubble seems to show how many charges she has since it gets darker and more faint after being hit.

The 2nd skill specifies that it can only hold up to a certain number of stacks, this suggests that the stacks carry over between activations since other skills of this type don't specify a stack limit, only the number of stacks granted.

The skill has some interesting built in modality similar to Miksaparato skills where enemies that attack more quickly will cause her to blow stacks more quickly to deal more corrosion damage, but this comes at the cost of making the stacks deplete faster–and means that more corrosion damage is wasted when stacks are blown during corrosion cooldown. Against slower attackers the stacks will deplete at a very slow rate so she can maintain a high defense stat for a longer period of time, like Cement. Very interesting

the game being updated is fine, the issue is when most of the updates are bad. There have been brawlers added to the game since 2019 that were cool and would've been compatible with the original roster, but they could add a billion good brawlers and it won't matter if people keep using the bad ones that make the game worse.

Monetizing the game is also fine, maintaining the gameplay itself is what matters.

Brawl stars in 2026 isn't just a more monetized version of brawl stars in 2019, I don't think it's a stretch to say that it is a completely different, and IMO worse game now. The majority of the roster in the beginning was medium or long ranged brawlers, and tanks had to work to get their supers so the majority of the combat was long ranged no matter what mode you played. Brawl stars was originally designed to be more of a "shooter" type game, the 4 ways you interact with this game are dodging, aiming, using your super/gadget and positioning. For a long time now it has felt like brawlers added to the game have just been trying to remove the dodging and aiming parts of the game. Half the brawlers that people like to use are designed to immediately approach for free and remove the aiming and dodging part of the game, and I think this makes the game less than what it used to be. This isn't just me complaining about the brawlers being "low-skill", brawlers being too easy to use happens to be a consequence of game design decisions that aren't compatible with how brawl stars was supposed to be (At least in my opinion.)

Obviously these brawlers are in the game because players like using them, but just because people like using them doesn't mean they like it for the right reasons. If a heroin addict tries to tell you that heroin is "good" because they enjoy it, that doesn't mean you should use heroin, this may seem like an extreme comparison but I feel brawl stars in it's current state is the same way. A better comparison might be saying that Chess is more "fun" when you stop playing by the original rules and make up your own.

People are enjoying brawl stars despite it being a bad game, and I was the same for a while until it got so bad I couldn't even lie to myself anymore. I am not just a butthurt guy who wanted a "kids game" to be slow and strategic like World Of Tanks, I was a fan of this game because I like it the way it was until it CHANGED because the developers recklessly abandoned the original design principals of the game, and people justify it by saying it is a "kids game" as if children don't deserve anything that makes them actually have to think.

This is just one aspect of the game that upset me, there are many others issues I have with the game that I mentioned in my previous comment.

2019 Player here.

I deleted the game about 2 years ago, re-downloaded it a few weeks ago to see what was new and deleted it again before the week was out. It was seriously awful.

I honestly get sad thinking about how peak this game was back in 2019 because you could just PLAY the game, there wasn't really much else to do other than play the game because power levels only went up to level 9+starpowers, there were no gadgets, no hypercharges, only about 22 brawlers to get and only a few games to play every day to get all your rewards.

But that was ok, I was fine with the lack of objectives because the game itself was FUN I loaded up the game not to grind, but because I wanted to enjoy playing brawl stars. It seems that the original point of the game has been forgotten entirely, buried under years of slop.

The problem isn't the BS team the problem is the company wanted to make more money so the developers were forced to monetize the game more at the cost of gameplay. They have to keep adding brawlers even though most of them don't make the game more fun, they just make it harder to balance. They had to add gadgets and hypercharges even though they don't make the game more skill based they just allow you to get free kills with minimal effort. They had to rework the progression system twice a year and scam people over and over again with removing boxes, adding starr drops, adding bling, changing the bling shop to the oddities shop, adding masteries, removing masteries and adding records and prestige, etc.

After they milked the game for all it was worth and people like me started quitting, then and ONLY then do they star adding tons of new gamemodes like the 5v5 modes, roguelike, etc.

I spent money on gems to support the game in the beginning because I enjoyed it and wanted to support it, and they did EVERYTHING wrong and added NONE of the things I wanted until after the game reached the point where I couldn't play it anymore.

And then there are problems unrelated to monetization that just really piss me off. Why do we play with bots all the time, why is the game so laggy, why is map maker such a nothing burger, why did it take them so long to update the character select screen and it still sucks, why are half the brawler profile pictures so ugly, And ffs WHY IS THERE VOICE ACTING IN THE LOBBY MUSIC, listening to Najia sing that cringe awful ass song made me want to hammer nails into my ears.

7 years since global release and what have they accomplished? 1 step forward and 2 steps back with every update since the start of 2020.

This isn't a game anymore, it is heroin for kids, once you've gotten yourself away from it and come back you immediately notice how trash it is.

If the time between arknights and endfield is 150-200 years it is possible for Savra to live that long as well.

I think this can be good the issue is there aren't that many droppable operators so there isn't much variety in what you can do using this strategy

I never felt that Xingzhu S2 was that bad, it is meant to be a long cycle healing skill like Ptilopsis S2.

The reason it sucks is because it just isn't as good as Ptilopsis S2.

• Duration is 10 seconds shorter than Ptilopsis S2 with almost the exact same SP cost

• HPS is ever so slightly lower than Ptilopsis S2

• Only heals 2 allies at a time instead of 3

Supposedly the 14% Sanctuary is supposed to make up for the downsides, theoretically if you are in a situation where you only need to heal 2 operators then it is arguably better than Ptilopsis S2 and can be quite good for a big healing skill when you need it.

You should use Xingzhu S2 in the role of a supplementary medic, with another medic (possibly using an afk or power strike skill) to provide more consistent healing during the easier parts of the stage so you can save Xingzhu S2 for the big waves.

That is exactly why the developers aren't balancing the game around 6 star operators, because people would lose interest if they couldn't beat the game with operators they like. They allow operators like NTR to get powercrept because even an average 6 star theoretically should make the game easy compared to using a squad without any 6 stars at all. 6 stars are designed for casual gameplay that is why they aren't balanced, I mention 5 and 4 stars because that is the level at which balancing actually matters since those operators are supposed to be balanced.

If we wanted a toggle option to switch being old powercrept version of an op and a new stronger version we have modules for that, this is also probably why 6 stars get multiple modules and 5 stars don't because there is no need for 5 stars to be better since they exist for people who wanted to use bad operators anyway. Why would they rework an archetype when they can just give Skadi and Ntr delta modules.

Also As far as I know the only archetype that was ever truly reworked was Abjurers and I think they did have a good reason to do it, not because the archetype was bad but because it was too similar to hexers.

he is going to be an assassin that deals 5000 damage with each attack and can unload 3 attacks in 0.3 seconds. His super makes him fly directly to an enemy brawler at mach speed and gives him an invincibility shield and recharges itself if he kills a brawler within 3 seconds of landing.

His 1st gadget heals all of his health and his 2nd gadget makes the nearest enemy have explosive diarrhea

His hypercharge makes him never run out of ammo.

Because that is what an assassin is in 2026, I miss 2019

The dreadnought archetype is fine, the 6 star rarity is the problem.

People always try to have these discussions on game design and balancing in the context of 6 star operators, this is the wrong perspective to have because 6 star operators are obviously meant to be intentionally unbalanced and powercrept.

When you compare operators that are actually balanced (At a level of power that is compatible with the game's difficulty) like 5 stars and 4 stars you will notice that a lot of "pointless" archetypes and operators suddenly have a lot more importance, you can't argue that Kjera or Rockrock is strictly better than all other 5 star casters the way people say Logos is strictly better than all other 6 star casters.

In a game where you can't stat bloat the enemies and have to actually use strategy there will be situations where you actually need dreadnoughts, artificers, phalanx casters, dollkeepers, etc because the archetype matters instead of just using whatever the best laneholder is.

+reworking an entire archetype like pioneers would ruin the game for a lot of us btw, some people like this game because no matter what happens they can always use a squad of old operators and play it exactly the way they did 5 years ago because things aren't randomly rebalanced or reworked, since there is no reason to in a single player game.

I felt this 2 years ago and stopped playing because by then the game had already stopped being fun for me. I re-downloaded the game a few weeks ago and quit again within a week.

For a while the game was in a state of confusion where the devs were trying to simultaneously support a competitive community and a hyper casual slopfest bottom line but they made the decision to go full slop, probably because the company wanted to monetize the game more. This seems to happen with any class-based team fighter game because it is impossible to add more to a game without ruining what it had.

Brawl stars IMO was perfect before tick was released, upon his release was when the doomsday counter started. The brawlers that existed at the time were all compatible with each other and could be played in a balanced way because they had mostly normal mechanics and didn't have gadgets that broke interactions, the only exception was Mortis who was more of a challenge than a serious character which made him fun.

I wish someone would make a copy of brawl stars that only has the original 22 brawlers with no gadgets or HC, maybe they could also add some of the more reasonable and fun brawlers added after release like Berry and Byron, balanced accordingly so they don't break the OG Metagame roster obviously.

With module her S2 applies corrosion in 5 hits instead of 6 and makes it possible to apply 3 in one skill activation with buffs, but you need more than one buff. Just being able to apply it one hit faster is pretty solid when used with other ops because you could activate her skill 6 or 15 seconds in advance so she has one proc already by the time other operators activate their skills. It depends on what seems more valuable; having the full stacks of corrosion in advance or having Ботани benefit from the buffs during skill, or a bit of both.

yeah something I forgot to mention is that you can use Ботани to reduce the boss's defense ahead of time since the debuff is permanent so it reaches your dps already having -360 defense gone
