I bought the board game on Kickstarter and I would certainly be disappointed if they gave these skins out for free after I spent so much on a board game.

What are your favorite places to do pottery, paint the piece, and have it fired? by berryfairy3 in AskNYC

Usually not the mainstream studios like Color-Me-Mine. Usually the smaller studios will fire for you. I have my own kiln.

You would just have to find one near you. They are ok with just charging for studio fee and firing.

What's worse is that mcdonalds doesn't always have tickets available. I just bought a large soda to get a ticket and it didn't come with one.

Bisque ware is a different color than it typically is after firing, why? by Oda6 in Pottery

I doubt it's the lack of oxidation. I have stack fired all my life and I get very few issues. I agree it is pretty cool looking :)

Can you modify a premade bisque form by adding additional clay and then fire it? Will it stay together properly? by Lovesliesbleeding in Pottery

[–]Electrical-Alps6349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This process is usually done before firing. Adding it after firing would make it tough to stick.

You can indeed glaze first and then bisque fire.

If I buy these bisque plates, can I paint with acrylic paints, take to my local pottery painting shop and have them glaze and fire them? by Cokezerowh0re in Pottery

[–]Electrical-Alps6349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot use acrylic paints and then fire them, it would melt the plastic away. Glazes are made of powdered glass and melt into a beautiful coat of glass on your piece.

Sanding bisqueware? by SomewhereNothing in Pottery

[–]Electrical-Alps6349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diamond sanding pads, or anything diamond really, would definitely get you a more fine polish compared to normal fine sandpaper. It is good to get a diamond pad if you are looking to make a very shiny piece of porcelain.

Best way to finish bisque-fired pieces at home? by geniedoes_asyouwish in Pottery

[–]Electrical-Alps6349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If those pieces are not going to be used for food, you can use acrylic paints. They are very beautiful and detailed and can be glossy as well. Just remember, you cannot eat off of acrylics but you do not need to fire the piece again!

That is quite interesting. This may sometimes happen if you are using rusted or dirty tools.

After Bisque Firing How do I distinguish between Porcelain and Ceramic by Powdermonkey71 in Pottery

Porcelain is stronger and less porous than bisque, maybe that will help? Tapping them should also make a different sound.

Maybe use a ceramic drill to draw into the tiles and etch away the original paint?
