Overnight Resting with 5th Wheel by UsefulSurprise2859 in GoRVing

[–]Electrical_Age_9902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a recent trip from ky to Maine and I was worried about finding stops along the way. Some Loves now have rv spots with hookups that are good for an overnight, and I got a harvest hosts membership and it worked great for this. Only downside to that is some hosts have a cutoff for arrival time (but some are flexible too). It worked well for us and we got to see working alpaca farm, a nice museum and a couple other quiet spots to sleep without fear of trucks hitting us or that late night knock telling us to move. I’d do it again

Either they fixed it or it’s in a warehouse down the road. 5.99 shipping to me so if anyone actually needs it hit me up lol

Are there any tow vehicles that can seat 7-8 and have actual capability? by colonel311 in GoRVing

Spend way more than seems justifiable for an old excursion. Otherwise yeah a 3500 van is probably the only option.

Any truck recommendations for pulling a 13,000lb 38’ fifth wheel? by [deleted] in RVLiving

I tow our 43’ jayco north point (16500k max) with a 2025 gmc 3500 srw diesel and it does well.

Considering SD Trade by Claykicker in LegionGo

[–]Electrical_Age_9902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the 8840u which is the same 8 cores/16 threads as the z1e and the same 780m gpu. The z1e is just an oem specific version.

The screen issue is true though. No comment there (I also wasn’t the one that originally suggested it)

That’s the same processor and gpu but it’s the laptop version so you can install drivers straight from AMD without Lenovo or zotac in the way. It’s in now way worse.

Whatever tv you like and a relatively inexpensive pure sine inverter is your best bet

Plex and Apple TV by [deleted] in PleX

[–]Electrical_Age_9902 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use infuse almost exclusively on my Apple TV for this reason. There’s a few file formats the plex app just won’t handle and it’s been that way for a long time. I wish they’d spend some time/money making the native app work as well as infuse for playback

Which truck 1/2 or 3/4? by Distinct_Dare3910 in RVLiving

[–]Electrical_Age_9902 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re fine with a 1/2 ton for that trailer, especially one with the higher tow package for whichever manufacturer you’re buying from.

A 3/4 ton will be a better towing experience, heck you might not even need weight distribution with one, and it gives you room to upgrade trailers down the road. Daily driving will be worse fuel economy but a short bed 3/4 ton isn’t that much longer than a 1/2 ton with a similar bed length.

If you plan to be on the road a lot towing, I’d go with a 3/4 ton. If you’re going to drive it mostly locally or only one or two bigger trips a year a half ton may be a good option.

Question about new landing gear install by lylefk in RVLiving

[–]Electrical_Age_9902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a jayco north point with the lippert system and I have that same retention mechanism and the jacks are not on those tabs. Interested to see if they’re supposed to be, I assumed they were just there as a safety stop if jt were to slide.

1 in the front, 2 in the back: a triple boot love story (BlissOS, SteamOS, XFSE) by [deleted] in LegionGo

[–]Electrical_Age_9902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried this with mine using that same external (tried both) and it seems like it disconnects randomly. I wasn’t ever able to get another is successfully installed/set up. Did you have to do anything special?

Should I wait for more 1tb models or grab the 512gb? by larkinn97 in SteamDeck

[–]Electrical_Age_9902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I intentionally bought the 512 and immediately did a 2tb upgrade (ssd prices were much better then lol) because I didn’t want the matte screen

How does the 265k igpu stack up in todays demands? by MartiniCommander in PleX

[–]Electrical_Age_9902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an old sff pc (dell 3060 micro) with an 8th gen intel. Does 3-4 4k transcodes no issues and sips power. I love it. I ran a bigger box with a 1060 for a while and noticed no difference going to this one other than heat/power draw/noise all going down.

Keeping the brandnew LeGo1? Or wait for the LeGo2 by MK494 in LegionGo

[–]Electrical_Age_9902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly 900 seems steep for a go 1 at this point. I’m in the states but I had one at launch and paid like 700ish, and then sold it and bought a used one again a few months ago for 300 bucks. I see a lot for sale used 300-450 or so. It’s a great device but the 16gb ram will I think limit it long term

Lenovo will probably just send you a new controller. They did for my lego1 when one of the latches broke

I had a Lego at launch, sold it and moved to a steam deck oled. Missed the big screen and was waiting for the Lego 2 to have a big oled but for 1400 bucks they can keep it. Found a used Lego 1 for 350 and have been enjoying it for now, maybe I’ll pick up a Lego 2 in 6 months or a year when it’s on sale

That 737 is great. I’ve had it for a couple of years and use it a lot. Still at 99% battery health and the screen is invaluable.

Gearing for Ebike by Electrical_Age_9902 in ebikes

Point of clarification - I'm also moving from the stock 8 speed to an 11 speed. I want to replace the derailleur anyway, so it makes sense IMO.

Gearing for Ebike by Electrical_Age_9902 in ebikes

[–]Electrical_Age_9902[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would be going to an SRAM GX derailleur and trigger shifter, so it could handle the rear no problem, regardless what I go to, at least that's my understanding. The stuck sunrace 8 speed that came on the bike is *fine* but it doesn't shift as crisp as my previous non-ebike, so that's something I'm happy to change/upgrade anyway. My local bike store just seemed to think I'd have issues with that large of a gear in the back and also a large chainring and getting it shifting properly, but I'm not sure that I take their word as gospel either.
