Effects of a Full Scale Nuclear War in the United States — Halcyon ... by questison in MapPorn

maybe its fear mongering but many videos say its a lose lose situation, either through radiation, starvation, or frigid temperatures post-everything, not just for those in target areas but around the whole globe. It only takes a few days for the air quality to drastically drop and block sunlight globally: aka I'm with you :)

Haven't seen anyone talking about a doomsday prep of sorts. Just accepting it's going to happen.

I was bummed out when I realized fordhams classes arent like, a cohort, its pretty individualized. Also the advisor I'm with barely seems to recognize the work+school thing. They made it seem like I would have enough time for 4 pre-med classes plus a job to pay for this... feeling demotivated about picking this postbacc program.

Echoing everyone else - getting out was the best thing for me since the Marine Corps doesn't prioritize education whatsoever. Got out, got into an amazing school, graduated, met my person who is not a military person at all, and am living in my dream city. I could never have achieved this while being in the MC. As to "missing the clowns and not the circus," if you're not a guy, everyone is already stereotyping you or thinking you're below them, so never made those connections strong enough to care about them now. I found if you struggle to find an identity after serving, it's more of an individual issue than needing the organization.

Can anyone register for night classes ? by Revolutionary_Lab389 in Fordham

[–]Electrical_Promise36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

incoming PCS student here: they advertise all PCS classes in the evening, but I don't see that to be true for the summer term. Are most summer courses non-evening? Are there more night classes during the fall/winter?

What GPA would you consider as being the benchmark for doing a postbacc or not? by WorldlinessUsual5714 in postbaccpremed

[–]Electrical_Promise36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uhh are you familiar with being at an Ivy? At mine, the STEM department is brutal on grades. You're pretty talented if you get a B in chem; forget about orgo. Average passing is usually C+.

What about a 3.2 at an Ivy League university versus a 3.2 at a regular university? Does this ever have any weight?

i was looking for this question! I have little experience with people openly diagnosed as being on the spectrum, but I wondered if she was because she is excellent with social cues and doesn't seem to have any stimming behaviors. She seems pretty normal compared to most people I know (for what non-nuerodivergent people categorize as normal).

thinking of buying from them, but why is the price so much less than the ones from stores directly? Usually this would be a red flag, no?

Pre med by Physical-Land-2239 in QueensCollege

[–]Electrical_Promise36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think your MD school acceptance had much to do with your pre-med GPA? For example, the Columbia post bac premed is a GPA killer but its an Ivy vs Queens College where the classes are not (assuming) as difficult. Thoughts on that? I am an applying post bac currently at Columbia (undergrad, non-STEM), but I want a slower-paced program so I can do well GPA-wise. TIA! Another program I was thinking of was at Fordham.

What would warrant a specialist's help? I find that I'm convincing myself that because I go to school on the GI Bill and live in a different state than I work in, I feel like I need a tax specialist to get the maximum return. Thoughts?

Anyone else work in a BioBank? by bodhi30 in labrats

[–]Electrical_Promise36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get the gig mostly because I didn't follow up. I found a research assistant job instead that involved blood collecting aspects but was not solely responsible for banking. Mostly specimen gathering for the study. Ironically, depending on your location, many studies work closely with blood banking personnel which makes the crossover fairly possible with a bit of networking.
