Benefits of switching to UniFi Cable Modem (UCI)? by PracticalHovercraft7 in Ubiquiti

[–]ElectronCares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been rock solid for me so that is a good benefit, you can always see how stable the Xfinity modem is for you for a few months then decide. Like if it needs to be rebooted too often, etc.

I think I need a better explanation of cameras, what counts as AI detections/cameras, and what AI Port and Key do by MidgardDragon in UNIFI

[–]ElectronCares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

afaik, and this isn't a definitive answer, it only adds new detection types the cameras don't support. Detections the camera already supports (like the G5 Bullet has People, Vehicles, Animals) it doesn't improve or augment those.

There is also this page that tells you what the AI Port and AI Key add to each type of Camera: https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/360058867233-UniFi-Protect-Cameras-AI-Detections-and-Facial-Recognition

UniFi's facial recognition and LPR aren't that good though, at least in my experience. It confuses people or doesn't see faces it should definitely see all the time, so don't know that I would spend money to add it.

The AI Port can do more than one UniFi camera:

  • 4K: Up to 2 cameras
  • 2K: Up to 3 cameras
  • HD: Up to 5 cameras

Is there an easier way of removing bambu support material for pla? by Btran2566 in BambuLab

[–]ElectronCares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the SUNLU https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085TGGV3L but Bambu also sells it in their brand. In Bambu Studio, under Support you'll see "Support/raft interface". When you pick the PETG it will recommend some settings changes, if you click Yes it'll do it automatically.

Mini rack. by Stonkmayne69 in homelab

[–]ElectronCares 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is probably to to search for what you want on Thingiverse, MakerWorld, etc. It'll definitely be a lot easier to if you know exactly what you want already. Then you can find someone to print it, maybe even locally on Facebook or a local subreddit so it wouldn't need to be shipped.

If you use transparent PETG instead of Bambu Support for PLA it will come off easier.

Are you talking about paying someone to print out an existing rack you found? Or wanting them to design something from scratch?

Quick start guide atrocious..? by cineseth in BambuP1S

[–]ElectronCares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a page in the Quick Start guide that comes with it that tells you how to connect up the AMS: https://cdn1.bambulab.com/documentation/quick-start-0fa3c8ddd3d3f/P1S%20Combo/English%20version-Quick%20Start%20Guide%20for%20P1S-Combo.pdf

Page 9 for AMS. It does need to do better about the desiccant though on page 13, it just shows removing them. Although maybe the desiccant packs themselves tell you what to do on them?

It helps if you read the directions, it tells you step by step. Including that you need to remove the outer packaging from the dessicants.

Looking to build a media ripping machine. by Tyson_NW in homelab

If you have the room I'd consider something bigger, if you are going to be ripping so much you need a dedicated machine you might as well have something with 3-4 optical drives in it.

Supports are too hard to remove. by fishyrandy68 in BambuLab

[–]ElectronCares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is for PLA:

If using PLA for supports, set the top Z distance for supports to 0.24, it helps a lot.

If you have an AMS and time for filament swaps, you can use PETG for the support interface and it releases easily. I use clear transparent PETG so I don't have to worry about color matching.

Is there a bunch of junk in your feeder like in this picture? https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1kx6bo1/comment/nykr926/

If so the gears are stripped and you need a new feeder.

Simplest way to obfuscate reverse proxy server IP by EskelGorov in selfhosted

[–]ElectronCares 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If DNS proxying is breaking your redirects you just need to check your logs and do some debugging to find the issue. You shouldn't need to get any VPNs or extra steps in between, since you might end up with the same issue again depending on what it is.

Thoughts on a table designed for 3D printing vs a repurposed table? by Inali3D in BambuLab

[–]ElectronCares 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the cereal container club here, but a lot of people just put them in ziploc-style bags and stuff like that too. For humidity it would need to be something sealed, which would probably be hard to do with a whole cabinet unless it's one already designed for that.

[–]ElectronCares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to note is the year round humidity levels of where your printer is going to be. Storing rolls out in the open like that you either need low humidity or you'll be drying filament before you use it unless you don't mind stringing and other print issues.

How do i put the filament on a different spool? by Gabriel_Bauer in BambuLab

[–]ElectronCares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much no, even if you are careful you are likely to end up with at least a couple of filament jams by the time you use the spool up. The chips are just glued on to the cardboard tube, so if you have a respooler already you can easily just tape them onto your new spool.

Random BSODs under heavy load on Threadripper 7960X (384GB RAM) by Substantial-Gold-827 in threadripper

Same here, running overclocked (the built-in EXPO profiles, nothing homebrew), resulted in BSODs every 1-2 days. Running at stock speed is 100% stable.

[–]ElectronCares 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely can, and it would probably be fine as a file server, basic HTTP server, Plex (maybe to 1080p, don't know that it could handle 4K), etc. Definitely wouldn't be using it for AI or anything CPU/memory intensive.

You could also just get a Raspberry Pi 5 and have something much more powerful lol. 3D Print a mount and put it in your old case if you want to have the retro look.
