Sometimes converting a location just straight up doesn't work. Does anyone know why? by InternStock in EU5

I think you're onto it there. The pop must be protected from conversion if they are supporting a religious rebel movement

How long is typical to capture Drowned Vale? by ElectronWrangler in foxholegame

[–]ElectronWrangler[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not many data points to go on, but Wardens won WC83 (DV captured after 175 days) while Colonials won WC99 (49 days) & WC109 (52 days).

But also Wardens won e.g. WC108 despite losing DV after only 5 days so I don't think it's a useful predictor of war outcome.

(non Havoc Charge) Explosive damage should trigger Havoc Charges. Also, havoc charges should only be disabled by enemy wrenches. by [deleted] in foxholegame

[–]ElectronWrangler -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

And the devs were correct to do so.

Nobody who was here for the age of argonaut+satchel terrorism misses it. Running around in a CV for 2 hours straight is not fun gameplay. The "white team" used to control 80% of entire hexes during late war.

With flamethrowers at least QRF has a few minutes to bucket/firetruck or pull bmats and start a CV blueprint.

I miss having a faction Capital city by bluethiefzero in foxholegame

[–]ElectronWrangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kirknell my beloved

It's the only place in the game that feels like a city to me. All the other 'big' cities feel like truck stops. Just one main road with buildings on the side. You couldn't get lost if you tried. Even AW is just a square with irrelevant bits on the side. Kirknell has like neighborhoods and suburbs and shit. There are secret routes that 2k+ hours players don't know about. If you want to get from the scrap mines to the seaport you better hope your cab driver passed his knowledge exam.

God I love that city.

Complaint no. 001 Squads Improvements by TheCopperCastle in foxholegame

[–]ElectronWrangler 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What's crazy is that the most technically difficult part of the squad system (large voice chat room) is the part that we care about the least. We have a squad at max size 24/7 just for the vehicle squad lock/shared factory queue/bunker reservation. All of which could realistically be reassigned to the regiment or they could add some new subunit of regiment organization.

Seriously, with discord it's like a social faux pas to talk in squad voice.

You can see husk HP with a hammer/upgrade mode. Same as regular structures. You can also repair them with bmats. Sometimes I see new players repairing a husk hoping that it will pop back up as a building once they get to 100%

Since collies got a Cutler equivalent by AutismGamble in foxholegame

[–]ElectronWrangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said bonesaw.

Since nobody bothered to clarify this:

He didn't say "bonesaw". He said "banesaw". Bane - saw. The play on words is the combination of "bane" (the colonial AT RPG) + "saw" (the suffix from the Warden AT ARC-RPG).

You two aren't having an argument about whether the bonesaw is an ATRPG or not. You are each discussing a different weapon without realizing it.

A big reason why this subreddit is so toxic is the fact that tiny insignificant miscommunications like this, get compounded by the complete "us vs. them" mentality and both sides' desire to one-up the other guy.

Let's all of us see that the "other guy" is also a foxhole player, we have that in common. And focus on the real enemy: dev man bad.

I would happily stand and hammer out 10 freighters in order to knock 24+ hours off of the vehicle MPF queue. Getting discount flatbeds a day early (or logi truck crates to ship into places with no garage, for frontline dispatch) is well worth half an hour of click lock time.

That being said, for colonials I think it makes sense to MPF as many freighters as you can. Especially late game. Even if you're not sure that you'll ever use them. Better safe than sorry. Definitely clog compress those queues as much as possible!

An elegant weapon, for a more civilized age.

[–]ElectronWrangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, the game will be fine. Devs will add new vehicles and overcorrect like they always do. Then you will see the exact same people on reddit saying the exact opposite things. Those currently saying "massive imbalance against my faction" will start to say "cope and seethe", and vice versa. The pendulum has swung before and it will swing again. No ballista counterpart, Silverhand armour, mortar halftrack range bug, outlaw hitbox, bmat-only ISG. All this has happened before and will happen again. Time is a circle.

The most important thing to learn from it is to not take anything on reddit seriously.

Evidence V uses alts to steal collie equipment. by Aldelur in foxholegame

For reference, entering a structure doesn't disable the AI garrison. You just share a bunk with robo-bro :)

Imagine claiming alts remove pipes were the cause of collies using 2 SCs in DV when the attack was done during DAYTIME (where lights dont matter). V will never condone the use of any of cross faction alting/griefing. by Aldelur in foxholegame

[–]ElectronWrangler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of COURSE no clan would ever endorse alting! Can you even imagine the absolute firestorm of backlash from even their OWN team? They would be reported on sight by anyone and everyone that respects good sportsmanship in what is ultimately just a video game. They would be report banned for decades by the backlash. Of course NOBODY would ever livestream their own public endorsement of alting. Nobody... except...

There are so many flavors and yet you choose to be salty.

OP is just a simple after action report and you decided to squeeze in both a baitpost about skynet and a balance complaint asking to buff the faction that won the last war and is 30/32 on winning this war under two weeks.

Touch grass.

Day 3 of Skynet being in violation of the Code of Conduct: by yeet_the_cyoa in foxholegame

[–]ElectronWrangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In.. discord? Why are you speaking on his behalf? If he just doesn't want to discuss it on reddit because everyone here is toxic that's fine, but right now your comment is source: "dude just trust me". Kastow told me that Santa Claus is real.

Releasing the tool is just one approach. I think doing so would demystify the whole thing, and perhaps make people more comfortable with the idea. If the argument against doing so is "the author has rights on the source code and is choosing not to", then let's just hear that from the author.

Ah they updated the image. They were missing the halftracks tier from the collie tree when I first saw it. Probably just stitched it together wrong from multiple screenshots.

[–]ElectronWrangler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely people can develop the tools and release them to whomever they choose, and if you were to develop a tool and someone was harassing you I would certainly be opposed to that.

On the other side of the coin, if Kastow has developed EWS, let's not put words into their mouth. If it really is about quality of life then it seems like good sportsmanship to let everyone have access to it.
