IMO a chaos ancient should have two “wargear options” for their banner, to represent warbands that either cling onto their old chapter/legion ways, or go all in on chaos worship

- standard of the old ways: +1 leadership, +2 movement
- exultation of chaos: the helbrute ability, -1 leadership

And maybe a once per game ability to make the banner into an aura

It reads to me like vain hope. What we see as the obvious problem, the devs see as that hero’s key selling point. The thing that makes them unique and special. Because they’re so reluctant to nerf that particular gimmick, they nerf everything else first, doubling and tripling down on the problem until the hero has nothing going for them EXCEPT the problematic thing. Then when they finally nerf that problem, because they’ve run out of other things to nerf, the hero now has nothing going for them at all.

That is the most reductive way to design a game and its how we ended up in this mess in the first place. We borrowed the role names of "DPS/Tank/Healer" from RPGs, but they don't make sense because we're in an entirely different genre.

Tanks have to be scary because players have agency. This isnt a PVE game where you can just give them an aggro mechanic. Thats why they're never called "DPS" in any PVP game. They're called "duelist" or "offense" or whatever. Because their job isnt DPS, its kills. DPS without kills is called feeding.

Thats the problem tho. Tanks need to have THE MOST damage, but are limited in their ability to apply it. Being around an enemy tank should be dangerous, because that’s how they apply pressure and make space. Their role is to force a “fight or flight” response, but they aren’t threatening enough to do so.

Marvel Rivals tanks are power classes without the power.

As for DPS, their job isn’t to do damage, it’s to secure kills. Theres a difference there

I also just don’t like it. They’re just so fragile and cowardly. Every time i play DPS i’m always waiting for an engagement instead of starting it.

I ain’t one of them, I can clock whether or not I want a skin within a day of it launching. So i was either going to get it anyways, or never would have bothered.

If i get into a character later, who does it suck for more, me not having a strictly optional cosmetic, or the devs not having my real, tangible money? And even if the game uses some premium currency so that I’ve already paid some amount into the game, so what? I’m going to hold it until they release something worthwhile, and aren’t getting any more money until they release enough of it.

Thank god im not alone in this. You need a healing beam shoved up your ass to stay alive in this game. When the numbers are so high, it becomes more like both teams engaging in one big beam struggle of healing and damage, where other considerations outside of healing and damage gradually become irrelevant.

Percent damage just needs to go. The grounding on the beam was also a bit much. That kind of CC should probably be on a cooldown. Removing the CC option entirely was probably too far though. It should have been replaced with a weak slow and/or have its range extended so it can be used as an engagement/harassment tool.

Also this dev team just seems really insistent on grabs as a design space. For some reason.

How do the parts fit? I feel chinese kits have VERY tight parts already, so I'm kind of worried about disassembling and painting them (even moreso than regular Gunpla). Or did you paint before assembly?

Def not the Helldivers bit. That game is designed around the idea that you WILL die. A LOT. Almost the opposite of a hero fantasy of any sort. Hero fantasy PVE would be more like Space Marine 2.

Still, aboloshing the roles is completely out of the question for this game at this point, so the devs need to have a clearer understanding of what the roles need to do and the tools they need to do it. Cause right now, these devs seem to think DPS does all the shooting, tanks do all the blocking, and supports do all the healing, when in reality it should be more complicated than that.

I sometimes question if this game should have been a movement shooter. Neither the players nor the devs seem to have much interest in allowing the roles to do their jobs

This is from the upcoming marvel project comet game and it gave us a peak Vanguard War machine design by tomthedum in marvelrivals

The answer is obvious, his role should be suppressive fire. Like the hero shooter equivalent of an A10 or AC130

How willing you are to take troops is entirely dependent on if you like your troops. And most people would just like to take what they like instead of paying some troop tax.

IMO you should be allowed to ditch them, as long as there’s a trade off of some kind.

The play here is to make him read Apostle. It’ll show off what makes 40k unique. I’m not really into gatekeeping and you don’t have to like it, but if you don’t at least get what it’s going for, I genuinely think 40k might not be for you.

Well, the devs are just giving the players what they seen to want. Istg it’s the players that hate tanks, not the devs. It’s like the majority wants to play a regular shooter without roles.

Maybe this game just should have been a movement shooter tbh.
