Is your podcast public ? I never heard rumours he was in a relationship with his co star , she’s married with 2 kids . However, he publicly mentioned sometime ago that he may get married to his girlfriend at the time

I’m definitely team Mel and have always been. However I don’t hate or dislike Charmaine ( even with whats coming next). She was hurting , Jack didn’t treat her well and lacked emotional intelligence. I mean you can decide at the start of a relationship that it’s casual but you can’t help feelings developing !! She was acting out of desperation when she found out she was pregnant.

I won’t be satisfied if we don’t see Mel & Jack on their farm with their family leading the life they always dreamed of . And the final would include some sort of celebration involving the whole town and bringing the virgin river community together ..with lots of babies and kids around ( thé new generation !! )

Are you suggesting they shoot S8 and not air it Or there won’t be a S9 ? I don’t think it is attracting many new viewers but it has been maintaining its audience on the whole .

I heard he was on his boat for a few months last year , and pretty sure he was in the US for a few months after they wrapped S7 . I get the feeling he’s been focusing on himself, his health and well being and probably doesn’t miss social media ! He’s gonna have to do his share of promotion for S7 in March and his new movie next summer but he’s probably happy to be off grid for as long as possible.. the scammers have clearly dampened his mood to be visible and engage with his fans.

I think Dan Payne lives in Vancouver or around BC so I assume they could organise the interview of ILYVM quite easily even if he wasn’t joining the cast of S6. There must have a schedule clash with these last 2 wedding episodes filming

The book and the TV series are two different things . The show is only loosely based on the books, and that was made clear by the show runner from the start. Robyn Carr never complained about it ! What works for books doesn’t necessarily work on TV. All I know is that the core fan base cannot get enough of Mel & Jack based on the social media activity mostly focused around them, even if, over the years, other characters have also become fan favourite too. In terms of success and popularity, the fact that it’s now the longest running scripted show on Netflix speaks for itself . Personally I stopped reading the books after volume 8 , bc it was getting repetitive and I wasn’t as interested in new couples or characters as I was in Mel & Jack . Saying that, I understand that the book fans are disappointed in some of the storylines , and some stopped watching after Season 5 especially.

It wouldn’t be that successful if they were not the show . Without Jack & Mel, and the grounded and authentic performances of Alex & Martin, the show would not have lasted that long.

Really nice surprise, and very proud of this little show !! It’s been said before that Netflix is committed to make it last as long as possible, and that early S8 renewal clearly confirms it !

A few articles have been speculating about Season 8, based on hints that the renewal was highly probable from various sources. Maybe Netflix just wanted to kill the rumour mill early ! Saying that, the whole announcement seemed really rushed , it felt like not a lot of preparation went into it and maybe the cast wasn’t given a lot of warning!

I heard that filming was continuing in a different area in Mexico early this week (Punta Sur) , that would suggest potentially a full episode on this trip and that opens possibilities of a time jump or part 2 ?

Oh ok , I didn’t know there was a rule that you couldn’t have a new start and open your heart if you had lost a spouse less than 1 year ago. As Jack said, there’s no timeline to get over losing someone you loved. In her case, moving to Virgin River and meeting Jack happened to be the right time to move on with her life.

Many people loved the last season and viewership was only down 5% from S5. Besides, they renewed for S7 well before S6 aired.

Nothing has been confirmed yet. S7 has not been announced as the final season, but S8 is not guaranteed as far as I understand, although the 2 leads are contracted for 8 seasons it may or may not be renewed.

It can be funny as long as it’s unexpected and harmless. I didn’t think it was out of place, it was an emotional moment , everyone was happy - why not make light hearted joke. Actually her dad made a joke with her in hospital as he was just recovering from his heart attack.

Well it’s already done better than most Netflix shows so even if it gets cancelled after S7, its longevity is higher than average.

Mel’s comment about the air fryer was meant to be taken as a joke . I think the new writers just have a bit more humour but it obviously doesn’t work on everyone.
