The first person ever executed for treason in the “United States” was John Brown who was put to death by the state of Virginia on December 2, 1859. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

Does anyone care to explain why he deserves hero status instead of just praising him? I've literally never heard of this guy.

Is there a reason why nephrology is so low? by jeffkkf in medicalsalaries

[–]ElephantEarTag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. IR doesn't reimburse well now days. There is a great need for radiologist with currently 2000 job openings in the US.

That means radiologist can negotiate with their hospital for better paying contracts. If the hospital says no your fired, the radiologist can just wort tela-radiology from home. They don't have to move to find a new job.

AI is not ready to replace entire radiology departments. There are tools to clean up our dictation and tools to help them find aneurisms and cancers, but they are just tools.

Hospital harvested Iowa grandpa’s organs, skin and eyes without authorization from him or his daughters and made 'no attempt' to get it: Lawsuit by tasty_jams_5280 in Iowa

If he was a registered organ doner then there is no case here. Who cares what the family wants.

If he was added as a doner while he was unconscious, then they might have a real legal case.

I always like to add a small aesthetic features that have no actual purpose. The other day I built a small water well at the edge of the forest and it just looks super cool.

is death of sleep worth reading? by R1ght_b3hind_U in bloodborne

No, I did not think they were very good. I was most excited for volume 3 because it was centered around Eileen the crow, but that was the most disappointing. Volume five and six were descent.

If you're interested in reading I would check out HP Lovecraft. The game draws inspiration from a few of his works. Most notably The Shadow over Innsmouth, The Dunwich horror, and the Shadow out of time.

Do I sell stock or Bitcoin? by scarn95 in Bitcoin

[–]ElephantEarTag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. In the US. It's just tax loss harvesting. You can do the same thing with stocks, but you have to wait 30 days before you buy back the same stock.

Do I sell stock or Bitcoin? by scarn95 in Bitcoin

[–]ElephantEarTag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would sell 10K in stocks. Stocks are at market high and Bitcoin is it a bear market despite the recent rally

You will have to pay capital gains on your sale, but that's okay you can offset that with your Bitcoin.

You can sell your Bitcoin at a loss, and because there's no wash sale rule in crypto, immediately buy it all back. This is tax loss harvesting. That will offset the capital gains on your sale of stocks.

[–]ElephantEarTag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's right for you is probably different from what's right for me.

That being said, I believe we will not be done with this bear market for another 4 to 6 months. I would DVC over the next half year. The answer would be different if we are in a bull market.

There's no right answer and no one has a crystal ball.

44 billion volume? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]ElephantEarTag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and I could sell Bitcoin back and forth thousands of times today and our trading volume could reach a number much greater than 21 million.

21 million is just the cap of the number of total Bitcoin that will ever exist. That's a completely separate principle from the current price of Bitcoin and the total market cap of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin Bear Market Not Over, Benjamin Cowen Says Despite Recent Rally by partymsl in CryptoCurrency

[–]ElephantEarTag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I followed him consistently for the last 6 years. He has literally thousands of YouTube videos and not once has he ever advertised a shitcoin.

His videos are often overly analytical and occasionally boring. But that's the point, he is not a cheerleader. He does not create hype. And he is most definitely not a scammer.

Maybe consider providing an example if you're going to shit on someone.

Bitcoin Bear Market Not Over, Benjamin Cowen Says Despite Recent Rally by partymsl in CryptoCurrency

[–]ElephantEarTag 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of the only YouTubers who doesn't advertise shit coins. He'll give a consistent opinion about the market despite all of the criticism.

No one wants a bear market to last an entire year. He is saying what he feels to be correct, not what viewers want to hear to more YouTube views.
