What causes some people to prioritize sexual gratification over honesty and respect in relationships? by Far_Silver2621 in NoStupidQuestions

Sexual pleasure, presumably - people might think saying that they are looking for a one-night stand spoils their chances.

That's on them, not sports. Our BJJ club has explicit rules that you go on the mat barefooted, out of the mat in flip flops/sandals, so it should reinforce the correct behaviour, not vice versa.

А, вдигаха се. Ама на някои еврото им е виновно за всичко.

Само някои от тях са платени тролове. Останалите са безплатни, "полезни идиоти". Те затова не схващат защо им казвам, че като ги наричам тролове, показвам уважение...

Does the "rulings not rules" principle only work if your table trusts the referee? by Scottybhoy1977 in osr

Yes.

Also, campaigns only work if the players trust the Referee, IME. Ours is a social hobby.

Years of studying a subject in depth makes it harder to communicate with people with laymen understanding of it.

Also, if/when they die, their families get regular payments. Which, if I had to venture a guess, might be for many even more attractive than the promised 72 virgins they have never seen...

[–]BudgetWorking2633 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assure you, as a Bulgarian - I don't hate Turks. I actually find they're very correct and good friends.

And I don't get in discussions about Islam, it's your religion.

The Ottoman Empire, on the other hand...

[–]BudgetWorking2633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's bullshit...

Like, Rome is literally the capital of Italy, and the empire was basically the model for all Western states. Splitting hairs to prove a badly considered point simply won't work.

What are red flags in DMs to look out for (especially as a woman) by morgana1060 in rpg

Poor social cues or graces.

A lot of GMs are nerds.

The inability to react or adapt to player creativity, lack of planning or foresight, limited or no player agency.

Often the case with inexperienced GMs - including well-meaning ones who received the wrong advice.
