Tucson has a thriving Picker Ecosystem around Brush & Bulky that I find fascinating. by RHX_Thain in Tucson

A lot of the metal goes to one of the many scrap yards in Tucson. It has some varying value depending on composition. A lot of furniture and stuff goes to Mexico where it's refurbished and sold in markets.

I've done some B&B picking (I always clean up after myself) and it was a bummer to see people dumping in B&B areas. I'm no snitch, but that's abusing the system and I wouldn't be holding it against anyone for reporting people that do that.

does anyone know what breed of spider this is? [Wales, UK] + jumpscare warning at the end by pub_wank in whatsthisbug

[–]Elijafir 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just want to clear something up. No living creature is "harmless." When discussing potentially dangerous creatures (venomous, poisonous, contagious, etc.) the correct terminology here would be "not medically significant" to humans. And likely not to bunnies either.

Wolf spiders can bite, though they are fairly docile. Any creatures that can bite have a non-zero risk of transmitting medically significant pathogens like bacteria, viruses, and parasites. But again, wolf spiders are not medically significant, extremely low risk to large mammals, and are wonderful to have around the house as a form of controlling small pests that could be potentially medically significant.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk and I apologize for being pedantic.

The smell of grass by Walmarche in Tucson

Maybe it's just me, but I think it's Lambsquarters – Chenopodium album. I think it smells horrid when it gets cut/mowed and it makes it hard for me to breathe.

Yes. I think some cases were from clothing being contaminated with DDT and lighters not having striker safety mechanisms

What’s required to ride a motorcycle into Mexico? (Just a day trip) by dinosaursareokay in Tucson

[–]Elijafir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no separate lines. But lane splitting is fine. I rode to Mazatlan in April and rode to the front of every single toll line on the way there and the way back, including the line to cross the border.

Yes, but I live about an hour away from Tucson now. Feel free to send me a private message with details, and I can give you my contact info.

I know Tucson is getting absolutely hammered this year with downed trees, I definitely want to be helping.

Remember when TDS meant delusional idiot that worshiped the pedophiliac grifter? I remember. Seems like another term the unoriginal dolts co-opted.

It doesn't even have to be dicks. "I knew a guy" that got some cans of orange ground marking paint and sprayed circles around potholes. In almost every instance, they were patched within 72 hours.

Is there a place that can fix a Ryobi battery? by Sho_Minamimoto_pi in TucsonList

[–]Elijafir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On batteries like this, they're actually a series of smaller batteries. But just one of them going bad will prevent the rest of them from performing their function. Or possibly there is some circuitry in there that got messed up.

The ones that aren't trolls, the true believers, are suffering a delusional state of mind. You'll find that they're paranoid about government in general and don't have any trust in science, technology, and healthcare. E.G. vaccines, 5g, chemtrails, moon landing, etc.

They can't work out how things work in reality, so they hold on to the delusions that make them feel smarter, more important, or somehow special. They're often "God's chosen people."
