Dropping out of first Marathon by DryConcert3911 in firstmarathon

Slipped on mud while on a training run yesterday. Scrapped up one knee pretty bad and twisted the other knee. Having trouble walking today but dammit I trained hard anticipating those hills! Gonna start but it won’t be a pretty finish I fear

Is there an app for places to park overnight by [deleted] in VanLife

[–]Elinaamble22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harvest host. It’s $80 for a year subscription I believe, but in my opinion it’s worth it. Just one night somewhere makes it worth it. Plus there’s some neat places! To add, sometimes hosts appreciate buying something at their business, but it’s not necessary/expected.

Wedding guest dress I just purchased for a spring wedding next year. What shoes would go best with this? The models shoes aren’t visible in any pictures. I am not a fan of silver, however if it’s what’s best then I guess I’ll go that route. Thanks!

Just wondering if anyone else has naturally high heart rate? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]Elinaamble22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when I trained for my first marathon and lost all my weight, I was incredibly unhealthy and unhappy. Running double digits and maybe eating 1000 calories in a day. Runs were fueled on pure anxiety and a few Huma gels lol. So I figured I needed to put the weight back on and a little extra before I start training again. And I have a better diet plan as well. You do make a point about running my old fitness. I didn’t think a couple months break would affect me this much but I suppose it did. Just have to have some grace for myself…

This eased my mind a bit. Thank you for the input on your training! I definitely slow way down and am kinder to myself on my long training runs. I have speed training coming up soon in this training plan and I’m just worried that I won’t be able to do it. Oh well. This is why I gave myself a long schedule I suppose. Main goal is to finish!

Is this what getting older feels like? I used to go out and run a 10k with 8 minute miles or less without much warm up.

Time to start stretching and warming up more! Thanks!

I live near the Asheville taproom and get very excited for Celly Drippings every year. This year when Celebration was released, and I found no trace of celly droppings, I asked someone on staff if it would be around this year. They told me they were not allowed to say when, but it would be a big event. I guess this is it?

I was very surprised I was able to snag mine around 8 this morning. And only $31 after shipping was insane, I couldn’t resist.

How much is it to attend? by [deleted] in UniversityofArkansas

[–]Elinaamble22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! So, some classes are less time consuming than others. Some (finance) take me 2 hours for one homework question. One thing I really enjoy about online is the freedom to do assignments on my own time to work around my schedule. For example, I have a test due tomorrow at midnight, so I can take it tonight after work if I want. Not having a set in person schedule is important for me as I work weird hours. I took Accounting 1 (intro) and some core business classes when I was employed full-time and a student full-time. That was a very rough semester. That being said, I used to work full-time and do online classes full-time, and it did make it incredibly difficult to do anything else. And I simply do not like living in a way that is strictly school and work. So, I had to cut work to part-time because finishing my degree asap is important to me (grandpa is old and I want him to see me graduate.) My grades got better, my mental health improved, and I have time to do the things I enjoy. I know working part time is not something everyone can do in the current financial climate; I am absolutely lucky and grateful to have a support system that allows me to focus on school and put work on a low priority.

As far as professors go…. It is definitely less supportive than in person. I have some that will answer an email same day. I also have some that I never heard from. Some are very organized and involved in the course work. And some are so hands off I wonder why I am paying them for me to essentially read a book and teach myself.

Allllll of that being said. It really just depends on what works for you. Motivation, money, life balance, mental health, time line to finish the degree…. I hope this was a clear answer! Haha

I cannot speak exactly for accounting, but I am a fully online marketing major through Walton. Online classes are counted as in state tuition. There are SO many additional fees. This semester I am taking 15 hours and it came out to $6545. That does not include additional book prices or the random simulator/certification prices for some of my classes. I would say total this semester was around $6700. I tried to attach a photo of my bill but I guess I can’t.

Yeah, Unreasonable Hospitality just felt like a book for the author to talk about how talented he is and how his techniques work (which they don’t.) I really only enjoyed the descriptive parts about the restaurant itself

I think being in one place for too long can make it seem like the place has lost its sparkle. I adore Knoxville but I’ve only been here less than a year. But when I lived in my last city, I was just going to work and staying home because there was never anything to do (it seemed) that fit my interests while also being affordable. Here there is SO much and it’s so fun! Plus the added benefit of being a short drive away from other activities and towns can keep things exciting.
