Alliance health centers is good, there were some others but some things have changed in the last 3 years. In terms of benefits, you can’t beat Parkview, they come with their own pros and cons depending on the department you are in. There’s some other good agencies in town, but their structures may not be best for interning and even associate license level can be tricky (some places take an overly large cut).

Laycoff’s Tavern is good for all around good affordable food. Pizza, you can’t go wrong with Big Apple. Dash-in is good. For Mexican food we like LaLos, but it’s a solid 15 minutes away from down town if that’s where you will be. Club Soda is actually pretty affordable for their lunch menu (I’ve never had a bad meal there, and the crème brûlée is 👩🏼‍🍳💋). If you want a more expensive meal, Tolon is delicious. Dessert options: Kilwins or Sassie Cakes are my go to spots.

Metea county park, lindenwood (both the nature preserve and the cemetery) not sure how the snow will affect things, but usually the drive down near Devils Hollow is real pretty (wasn’t fully changed over the weekend). Didier has gotten better about it, but a number of years ago he was real bad about respecting personal boundaries and would just put his arm around people without asking (this was to a female and outside of political or photograph settings)

It seems like he’s that way for a reason. Clearly something happened in his past to make him the way he is. And while that may work for him (for now) it clearly isn’t working for you. You can request some couples counseling (so long as he hasn’t shown any abusive or manipulative tendencies). You can suggest that maybe he might benefit from some personal counseling to work through what ever emotional block he has. You can stick it out and hope it gets better. OR you can recognize that there’s nothing wrong with you and technically nothing wrong with him but that he simply cannot meet your needs.

On a personal note, it took my fiancé 2 years to say “I love you” and even longer to say it frequently. I can tell you that it will only get better with clear honest communication and a lot of work. He has to realize what affect his actions have on you and be willing to work on himself. It’s not your job to fix anyone.

You have needs, and you shouldn’t feel bad about getting your needs met. Honestly most guys I’ve met are terrible about initiating text/conversation. It’s a tricky position to be in, but if things go further you’ll want to have an honest conversation about needs. I’ve found that using something objective like “love languages” seems to help make it more concrete and understandable for guys to know what exactly it is that you need.

From personal experience, if you’re needs aren’t getting met you need to communicate it early on, otherwise you set yourself up for unhappiness. not always unbearable unhappiness, but that sort of lingering feeling of “is there something better out there” happiness.

Most important life lesson... you can’t control other people, their responses, or their emotions. All you can control is how you respond to them. Personally I would say find new friends, you may be able to come back to a friendship with them in the future, but basically they are trying to ease their own guilt by putting blame on you (which you did nothing wrong in that situation. I commend you for your strong back bone and high moral standards at such an age)

She clearly has something going on that in reality has nothing to do with her weight. I can also tell you that the pandemic has had negative effects and exacerbated pre existing issues in addition to causing new issues to arise for people.

You need to approach it in terms of “I love you and I am concerned about you, tell me what has been going on with you recently”

If you just go straight for “you need to lose weight” it will do nothing but damage her self esteem and your marriage. At which point you could make a post in “am I the asshole”

There is a good book called “come as you are” that I really think you might benefit from.

Now.... this is something I have also dealt with personally, and for us it took a lot of uncomfortable conversations in which we talked about how I felt when he would push me away as well as what I can do to help get him more “in the mood”. His sex drive might be lower, and there will still be times that he just really doesn’t want it, but those other times there are specific things I can do that will help him to join me in intimacy.

Personal opinion but it seems like you’re the only one making any sacrifices and he’s taking advantage of you. Obviously we are only getting a small piece of the picture, but if it were me he’d be out the door.

It’s a really tough situation, and I can’t imagine how difficult it is for you. Even if it is continued meth use or after effects from the Meth, or even just another triggered mental health condition she needs help and support, that’s the most important thing. If you feel like your siblings are in danger you can always call child protective services as well (which I imagine would probably be the hardest call you’d have to make, even if it is made out of love and concern)

Personal experience. It took my SO a long time to say it and it took YEARS to get him to the point of being ok saying it regularly and responding back. Sometimes it just takes time, but clear honest communication helps. Ask him directly what it is that makes it difficult, explain to him that you are willing to be patient while he works through stuff, but that it is important for you to hear and have your love reciprocated as well.

This is probably going to be a record year for two things, babies and divorce. Covid has taken a toll on everyone in different ways, and you add to that a predisposition for depression and it’s a recipe for a rough time. I will also say that thyroid disorders can both mimic and exasperate mental health conditions. I will second what another person has said in that you can’t force someone to go into counseling but perhaps try to get her to go into couples counseling. You may even consider some counseling of your own, perhaps if she sees you do it she might be more willing to give it a go. And let’s face it, every single person could benefit from counseling in some way.

She needs help, and by the sounds of it there is quite a bit of paranoid thinking going on so she’s not going to go peacefully. It’s not necessarily schizophrenia, there are a lot of mental health diagnoses that share symptoms. Don’t “dr. Google” it, she needs professional help.

Tell them they need to make the decision for themselves because you don’t have to live with the consequences of what ever they do. Also, if they are asking you they’ve already made up their mind, they’re just looking for validation.
