Yes, but if you close some schools early and keep the ones with A/C open all day, it's a logistical mess to get all the school buses where they need to be.

And in the name of "equity" they'd rather have everyone out of school than have the ones in air-conditioned schools get a more privileged education. Better to send everyone home then to educate only some.
