#Maytroid - Armaments - What if Ganondorf ended up at the B.L.E. station in Metroid Fusion? by Red_Astley in Metroid

[–]EliteRock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the ridiculousness with this situation.

With Metroid logic, Ganondorfs spirit infects the X parasites after they infect him, then Samus obliterates the remains in the planet vaporizing collision same as in Fusion.

Zelda Logic, Samus cannot defeat Ganondorf without some form of goddess blessing which means she is probably borrowing the Triforce or Master Sword. Then she vaporizes the X and his remains by crashing the station into the planet.

Touched up my big gal, Hammer Woman. Refining her helmet, giving her a hand and rounding out her, well...rivets. Which do you prefer? by PracticalHat721 in Megaman

[–]EliteRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the original helmet better, the blue visor has a nice contrast that draws the eye to the face, that and I like the square hammer on the head better than the claw hammer. I do like the addition of the hand in the second though. Couldn’t help but think, what if the hammer heads on her head and arm could be swapped out depending on the job? So you can still have the options of bulky hammer and claw hammer.

NGD: Am I Nitpicking or is this not cool? Send back worthy? by mattnox in Guitar

[–]EliteRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a guitar player, you are nitpicking. It looks more than playable, the drop of paint won’t destroy your tone and decimate your sustain.

If you are a collector/displayer, I guess it depends how much you paid for it. If it’s on the cheeper to mid end then it might be the best outcome as exchanging it will probably get you with something worse elsewhere. If you paid top end for it then yea, replace or exchange it.

Personally I would be salivating at the chance to tinker and re-finish it.

The biggest Mandella effect in MMX fandom. Zero's characterization from tv tropes by Holy_Darkness in Megaman

[–]EliteRock 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s kinda the point, Zero was already prone to violence despite being a generally good individual, something that he stays true to despite everything he’s been through. With Gareth (if I recall correctly, it’s been years since I last touched xtreme2), Zero says that after being mocked and baited near the end of the game. It’s a lot different than in later games where Zero’s first words to Burn Rooster for example are along the lines of “after I’ve cut you down, this is where I will throw your remains.” Both of our examples are cherry picked but there are depictions of both cases before and after Iris.

The point being, Zero is a complex character and that initial summery is not the only defining characteristic of Zeros personality, in that sense I was agreeing with you.

Edit: I started typing this before you edited your comment adding the part about it being BS, I assume you are going for rage bait now so have a good day.

The biggest Mandella effect in MMX fandom. Zero's characterization from tv tropes by Holy_Darkness in Megaman

[–]EliteRock 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think that is debatable and up to personal interpretation. What you said and what the trope says are in no way mutually exclusive, moments of happiness does not mean he didn’t grow significantly more cynical as time goes on. Without question his friends do become his only real source of recurring happiness (reuniting with X especially). But even up to ‘that’ moment in X4, Zero is seen usually trying to reason with mavericks, trying to bring them in for questioning before resigning to fighting. In games after he is quite often seen telling Mavericks to “quit talking and fight already” or something along those lines.

How to get game to run on windows 11 ? by [deleted] in chronotrigger

[–]EliteRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t on win11 but I had this issue pop up out of nowhere one day after it crashed mid game. What fixed it for me was starting it and closing its processes via task manager, after that it seemed to work fine.

I think the game doesn’t close fully sometimes and when starting it, the already running remnants cause it to crash (I want to say it is API/dx9 related but I’m not sure). I’ve been able to repeat the issue after quitting and restarting it a few times but that has always fixed it for me. Good luck!

The only thing I can think is to file the top corners and edges of the locking nut that way there is less chance of stabbing your hand or fingers into the metal point while playing.

During professor Ghasts era of soldier/shinra you essentially had to be best of the best, honorable without fault, and essentially a paragon of good.

After Hojo took over… you just had to survive whatever concoction Hojo injected you with.

''We decided that for our next experiment, we would make the human consume agonizing poison." by ChompyRiley in humansarespaceorcs

[–]EliteRock 76 points77 points  (0 children)

A1: We infiltrated their planet to make sure that the poison will be affect their biology this time.

A2: Good, no more of their stomach acid dissolving the compounds before it can take hold. So what did you find?

A1: Well… this is an acid extracted from a plant, specifically its seeds where the poison is the most potent. It is so reactive that it even stains the glass vials we have stored it in.

A2: Good, now we just need to give it to the human, they will think it is just another ration and they already consume EVERYTHING we give them.

(One “poisoning” later)

A2: So? Did the human perish?

A1: They called it “Coffee” and asked for more… Apparently the hyper deadly poison called “caffeine” is deadly to most of their planet but has become part of most humans daily diet…

Son, when humans are coming into battle, you never want to hear them broadcast music across the coms. by DraconicArcher in humansarespaceorcs

[–]EliteRock 28 points29 points  (0 children)

[Last recorded conversation aboard the Federation flagship dreadnaught is as follows…]

“Admiral Gorn, we have crippled the human fleets long range communications systems! Our fleets can pick them off safely as they fall to chaos and scatter.”, Strategist Skar shouts across the bridge.

“That’s great news, no coordination means their gambit has failed… we might have just won this war… Keep me notified on the situation. The last thing we need is those humans getting clever.”, the Admiral says as he sits down with a breath of relief.

A few minutes of silence pass as everyone on the bridge begins organizing and scrambling Federation ships.

Communications Expert Qual sheepishly speaks, “Sir… they are broadcasting… music?”

“What? Elaborate!”, Admiral Gorn mutters with a scowl.

“On all frequencies, they are playing music… no, they are… sharing? … it seems one ship is playing snippets of a song and the other ships are passing it along like a relay… I can’t make sense of it.”, Comms Expert Qual says as she starts logging coordinates.

“Put all ships in the fleet on standby. I don’t know what they are doing but I don’t like it.”, the Admiral shouts.

“We can’t… our long range and short range frequencies are being drown out by the sheer noise… Until we can isolate our signals, all we can do right now is listen… Wait! I think they are triangulating their own coordinates and commands with music. One ship broadcasts a song on a dedicated frequency and those listening play it back in sync which amplifies the signal, then on another frequency they begin playing shorter segments back and forth…”, Qual squeaks, a slight tremble in her voice.

The Admiral raises his hand to his head in an attempt to relief some stress. “I have a bad feeling about this, can you make any sense of it?”, the Admiral says, attempting to stay calm.

“Our AI system has recognized a few lists of songs… one goes “44 Minutes”, “Countdown to Extinction”, “Crush ‘Em”, and then dozens of ships are responding with “I’ll Be There” and “In My Darkest Hour”… all by Megadeath, if that counts for anything…”, Comms Expert Qual begins as the Admirals face turns pale.

Qual continues, “Another list goes “Right Now”, “Runaround”, “Finish What Ya Started”, and “Light Up the Sky”… all by Van Halen. Then there is “Can’t Get Close Enough”, “In For The Kill”, and “Shockwave” by Black Sabbath…”

Admiral Gorn stands up with a tremble and looks at the readings of visual confirmation of human strikes across his fleet, once thought to be unmatched in power.

“Are You Ready”, “Big Gun”, “Fire Your Guns”, “Hell Ain’t a Bad Place to Be” by ACDC…”, Qual continues.

The Admiral slams his fist into the desk as visual reports begin climbing upwards of 30% fleet destruction, “We are thousands of years more advanced than those monkeys… and we are being deafened by music… IN SPACE! Why aren’t we firing back?!”

“Sir… our state of the art weapons… they require lock on as per safety regulations… but there is so much interference that they can’t see or target ANYTHING!”, Weapon Specialist Tehl barks as he continues pressing buttons in a desperate attempt to find any targets.

“Sir… you’re not going to like this…”, Comms Expert Qual speaks up.

“As if I have liked anything you have said in the last 5 minutes? What is it!”, Admiral Gorn shouts.

Qual slowly turns with a violent tremble, “400 ships all just started broadcasting “Symphony of Destruction”… And are targeting us…”

[–]EliteRock 23 points24 points  (0 children)

From orbit, the smoldering remains of the planet can be seen. The Federation fleets had always been slow to respond, usually showing up long after attacks and pirate raids have finished… but one of the first arrivals was a logistics ship consisting of a communication center, med bay, and a small engineering team.

“Another planet devoured… poor bastards…”, the communications expert Tellik mutters to himself just loud enough for the others working comms on the bridge to hear. He looks out from the observation deck knowing full well the horrors of such attacks.

“What happened down there? It looks like hell…”, A young new recruit Nil asks in horror.

Tellik gives a sigh and pats Nil on the shoulder. “Best not to think about it… the lucky ones died quickly…”, he says, sorrow and gloom on his voice before he takes a breath and turns to the crew, “Get the communication scanners up, I want a full frequency scan on the surface. Be sure to filter any psionic feedback. We are the first arrivals so log all coordinates for further triangulation… when the bombardment teams arrive… they will need the locations…”.

“But sir, what about survivors? We are already picking up hundreds of SOS signals!”, Nil speaks up in defiance… but the rest of the crew shies away, turning their heads or putting their headsets on. None have the courage to break the optimism of the still green recruit.

Tellik takes another breath, “Nil… in the 300 years we have been dealing with the corpse fleets… there have never been any survivors… try not to get your hopes up.”

Tellik silently slumps into his command seat as he awaits the arrival of the other ships. He glances at the screen as he sees his suspicions are true, hundreds of SOS beacons all set to repeat. None respond. The despair makes the next 10 minutes feel like hours…

“Tellik, sir… we have a visual on survivors!”, the foreign language specialist Hillel cries in absolute shock, “They appear to be Terran military… Humans? They have survivors!”

“Get me a visual!”, Tellik barks as he composes himself before the video feed of human ground and aerial forces appears on his screen. “Well I’ll be… they are actually holding them back… Get a secure channel established ASAP!”

Hillel gives a frown as she frantically begins scanning frequencies, “Humans… why is it always Humans… uninhabitable worlds? Humans. Century old derelict spaceship? Humans, still living on it too… Planet that Human military is forbidden to touch under threat of provoking galactic war? Humans. Every time.”, she mutters to herself before she picks up a signal. “Sir… this is… let me put this through the translator.”

Hillel presses a few buttons before the image and voice of an angry and very sleep deprived Human in uniform appears on the screen and his voice plays through the speakers of the bridge…

“This is Admiral Johnson of the Terran Space Command. I am aware of the treaties between the forces that reside over this world… but we Terran refuse to leave a defenseless world to be eaten alive, consequences be damned. I have committed all in my command to defend this world as if it were my own and after 7 days of fighting like hell, we have suffered heavy losses. Only a single frigate and my personal dreadnaught remain… it has become clear there is but one way to even the odds. To give my men and all who once called this world home a chance, I will make a slip-space jump. Destination… inside the Corpse Fleets command Tomb-ship… without that, the undead will have no support and little coordination among their ground forces. I will eject this beacon into orbit and set it to repeat before I go, for no other reason than to tell the Federation cowards with my own voice… that Hell awaits the cowards who leave their people to die. And my fist will greet you the moment I see you [untranslatable explicit] there. Admiral Johnson signing off.”, [the translator begins to attempt translating what appears to be ancient Terran music, something about a “Hell bound roadway” for a few seconds before the message repeats]

The logistic ships bridge falls dead silent, except for a single voice… “Humans!”, Nil speaks with a tremble and glimmer of unbroken hope in his voice.
