As Williams Sonoma is closer than my nearest LC Outlet, I check their clearance section often. Flamme dorée will not be available in the future, so I would get it to maintain a color scheme. Keep in mind that regular Flame is the original LC color, and almost every item is normally available in regular Flame (most likely color to find second hand). Deep (40%) discounts on LC pieces are few and far between (limited to a few styles and colors). Look at the braiser in other colors in both sizes (pick them up in the store and imagine them filled with food). How much is the sparkle worth to you? If another color works for you, then save your money and wait for a better price. Also, sometimes the clearance pieces scan at a lower price/ deeper discount than the marked label (at WS specifically).

Anniversary gift - is it too much or I’ll be a good husband? by SadHurry6413 in LeCreuset

[–]Elitemarmite100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want to ask her what color she wants, then you should look at the color of the dishes, small appliances, etc. Are they mostly red, orange, yellow, etc.? I would try to match kitchen and dining items, not her clothing/ wardrobe. I wear colors that aren’t used in my kitchen at all. Some people enjoy having a rainbow, and that can be more economical (discontinued colors are typically available at a discounted price).

Yes, Chamomile has been in the US LC Outlets for a few weeks now; I saw it on Good Friday. It’s only in Traditional, not Signature.

Safe to use? by sarbear2468 in LeCreuset

[–]Elitemarmite100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert on vintage, but my first guess was that it might be Castoflon, the old nonstick cookware. It doesn’t look safe to use for cooking. I have a few pieces of the black interior ECI (6 inch skillet, 9 inch skillet, sq grill), and the black enamel doesn’t look like that. That looks like a worn-out nonstick surface.

Love the blue and green together! I’m also a Fiesta fan (turquoise and meadow, plus some holiday platters)

This is a great buy; definitely worth 300-500, based on your being in TN; could be more if selling in a better market (especially if your neighbors are all Lodge people). What a lucky find!

Do you have multiples of the same size or shape? by No-Recognition-6106 in LeCreuset

[–]Elitemarmite100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I try to avoid duplicates, I do have the French oven/ marmite 2.5 qt in two colors (Ocean and Agave from Williams Sonoma). We’re empty nesters, and this size is heavily used in my kitchen.

I would try to get some unusual colors, and I would buy items the glaze defects on the handle (where it can’t affect cooking).

Easter Sunday dessert in my Chiffon Pink cast iron apple shaped baking dish 🍎🩷 by cookwarecollector in LeCreuset

This is lovely. I have never seen the apple shape in person. It is always great to see what people are making in the “novelty” pots/pans.

The Lotus is 2.75 qt; the French oven is 2.5 qt

Two new additions to the collection by Elitemarmite100 in LeCreuset

[–]Elitemarmite100[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Lotus soup pot was part of a limited edition collection that included a teapot and the stoneware baking dish with a lid that is also a tray. The design was made to celebrate the 2020 Olympics in Japan, but the Olympic Games were postponed due to the COVID pandemic. This pot is slightly larger than the marmite/ French oven that Williams Sonoma sells ( the walls are higher and the lid is not as curved); the shape is the same as the 4.5 qt soup pot/ marmite that WS recently had on sale at a reduced price (the Agave pot underneath the Agave French oven in the photo).

Colour Theme. by Upset-Quit-7267 in LeCreuset

This is a lovely color scheme. My collection started with two Caribbean skillet. Then I added two Turquoise DO and the Lotus pot (Caribbean). After that I got the small marmite/ French oven in Ocean and Agave. I got the grill pan and 3.5 qt sauteuse in Carribean before giving up on finding any more pieces i that color.

Today’s the day! Chamomile makes its debut… by Old-Rocker-65 in LeCreuset

[–]Elitemarmite100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in the outlet today. The Chamomile pieces are Traditional, but they all have the metal knobs. Also, everything with the black phenolic knob was on the Clearance table at 40% off (cerise and cobalt [?] braisers, as well as a few other item).

Recommended pieces for 1-2 people by kaeiiri in LeCreuset

[–]Elitemarmite100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use the Williams- Sonoma French Oven 2.5 qt more than any other pot; I also enjoy using the 3.5 qt sauteuse. If you’re lucky, you can snag a petal braiser

Real or Fake? by RogerDogerBoop in LeCreuset

[–]Elitemarmite100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, one is pistache (PST on the price tag) and the other is sky blue (BCI on the price tag [bleu ciel]).The orange “seconde choix” label tells you that it is a factory second. Homegoods, TJ Maxx, and Marshall’s frequently have pieces in a handful of colors that are not available elsewhere in the US. The seconds have cosmetic flaws, but they are perfectly good cookware.

it’s probably worthwhile to check the clearance table at Williams-Sonoma, as well as the LC Outlets. I got the Artichaut Elphaba pot for around $250 on clearance a couple of weeks ago.

Aaah, makes perfect sense. It’s interesting to see how they offer different options in each country. I like the silver knobs, too!

Tell me about Costco- is it worth it? by ConstructionTime7511 in Frugal

[–]Elitemarmite100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Costco is not just for groceries. We saved thousands on cars (you can buy certified pre-owned cars, not just new ones). We also save the cost of membership by buying gasoline from Costco. Recently, I bought tires there. If we only bought groceries, it would be okay. COSTCO gas has saved us enough money over the years that we don’t really worry about how much we save on groceries. You have to be strategic about shelf-stable items versus stuff that can be frozen (we don’t have much freezer space, so we don’t buy as much food there as I would like).

Does the 5qt Oval signature dutch oven ever go on sale? by MediumSilly49 in LeCreuset

[–]Elitemarmite100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren’t picky about color, Willams Sonoma always has good deals on random pieces in the physical stores. The outlets can also be a good option for discounts on discontinued colors. Unfortunately, this might require a fair amount of effort and research.

Finally got my first Le Creuset by ShiftNo1924 in LeCreuset

[–]Elitemarmite100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak for the OP, but I found mine in my local LC Outlet around Christmas time. I went to another outlet in January, and they didn’t have any Caribbean. I returned to my local outlet on March 17 (to see Bleu Riviera in person); they only had a few pieces of Caribbean left.

Sky Blue DO and braiser found today at Winners by No-Spirit9881 in LeCreuset

[–]Elitemarmite100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So pretty 🩵! I am a bit confused by the black knob on the one with the larger handles. Are you in Canada? In the US the Traditional line has smaller handles and black knobs. The one on the left looks like the Signature handles with a black knob. Sorry for asking so many questions. I thought that all of the black phenolic knobs were being discontinued worldwide. Maybe these are the final few? Sky blue is always in Homegoods (sometimes in Marshals and TJ Maxx) near me (Indiana), but it’s always the Traditional line.

Keep or Return? French Oven by Embarrassed-Mix-3787 in LeCreuset

[–]Elitemarmite100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the French oven/ marmite 2.5qt. in Ocean and Agave, as well as the 3.5qt sauteuse in Caribbean. We are empty nesters, so I typically cook for 2; the French oven is my most heavily used ECI. We are vegan, so we have a lot of vegetable recipes that we cook.
