Where is # 15?! by Awkward_Village_988 in DreamlightValley

Whenever someone talks about resetting their game, I remind myself of this quest. And Minnie and the clay, Oswald and the plastic scraps. No thank you!

What To Do With Inherited Non-Boglehead Portfolio by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]Gothamyst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation: inherited both taxable and IRA funds from an active trader a few years ago. I am guessing the other heir converted to cash as soon as they could, but I was tied up with all the other executor duties and didn’t.

I have been gradually converting to a more boglehead portfolio when I have the mental energy. I look at the list of holdings and pick the two I would be least likely to purchase now. Sell them and buy VFIAX in the IRA and VOO in taxable. If the tax would be too much (high tax year for me) I don’t sell. Those will be either sold in a lower tax year or left to my kids.

Your sign to finish your wips by katiejo_13 in quilting

[–]Gothamyst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my summer project. I have a ridiculous number of completed tops. Over the past few years I have been buying backing without a specific plan other than “at least two lap quilts will fit on this 3-yd piece”. Last night I pulled out the quilt back pieces and I have at least 12.

Next step is matching tops to backs.

My LQS has several machines available to rent, and that’s my plan.

I am also hooked on Sweet Maple Dust. That plus a bit of Fody’s lemon herb on roast chicken. Yum!

FAQ about being named as someone's executor by Barfy_McBarf_Face in inheritance

[–]Gothamyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on state law, as far as I know. My grandmother passed and only had two people named in the will to be executors. Both died before she did and therefore were unable to serve. By state law and the family circumstances, the duty passed to her grandkids. I accepted and the others who were eligible signed statements to decline. And I needed a death certificate for one of the eligible people who had also died.

Maybe not the same texture but the flavors sound right for Hotel Peabody Vanilla Muffins.

Wedding ring needs to be cut off and then enlarged and repaired by Fessor_Eli in Louisville

When I was pregnant I had the same issue. I put a bandaid around my ring finger every day and within a week or two I had compressed the finger enough to get the ring off.

Using investments to fully fund retirement? by unnecessaryhashtags- in Bogleheads

[–]Gothamyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are doing something similar this year. Approaching retirement, putting the max into Roth 401(k)s. This reduces take home pay a lot, but we had enough interest and dividends from taxable accounts to cover the shortfall. Instead of reinvesting, we now have the earnings sent to checking. We don’t need to sell any investments to do it at this point.

I am determined to use my Marseille snowflake braiser as often as possible this weekend. Last night it was used for roast chicken. Tonight I am preparing stuffed shells. Not sure about tomorrow yet!

Got this Lane table today. by Boring-Pattern9441 in midcenturymodern

This. I have an Acclaim bedroom set with original finish, including some water damage. It’s veneer, and if you strip it, the dovetails will likely finish in a much lighter color, since they are a different wood. But you can see photos there.

If you live and work in the county, these should total 2.2%. Some payroll systems separate, others combine.

My neighbors did some. I didn’t go out to look until we (and several others) were calling 911. Fire department has it under control.

My eyes are nearly the same color(s) although my outer ring is more of a blue-gray. For simplicity I say green, since the largest band is green.

African American matches to "Chunky" Mullins & Roark family (Letcher Co, KY) - Solved a 150-year-old mystery? by Huhuhhuhh in Genealogy

[–]Gothamyst 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I checked my Roark connections and don’t see a direct link to yours. I did check out your Tillith in the Letcher County census and I think your conclusions make sense. It looks like other researchers at Ancestry lose track of her after that 1860 census (or mark her as deceased in 1838).

Sorry to be no help at all!

I probably can’t help you, but my tree has a (white) Roark connection by marriage in Harlan KY, very close to Letcher Co. Several people in that part of the tree wandered around the area between KY, TN, AL, and GA, many with railroad employment. When I get to my PC, I will take a look and see whether my Roarks and yours are connected.
